By Their Fruits, You Will Know Them

Via Atlas Shruggs.

X_______ Dhimmi has produced her first video themed Antisemitism. It's clear over the past several years we've seen more and more attacks on Jews and so she wanted to make some kind of statement about the escalating murderous rage against our Jewish brethern. She used Atlas archives to help illustrate her point and I think it an extraordinary first effort.

Bad News: Adam "Azzaz" Yahiye Gadahn is NOT Dead

Al Qaeda's media wing, as Sahab, has announced an upcoming video featuring Orange County born Adam "Azzaz" Yahiye Gadahn.

Well, that just sucks. The last thing I need is to see that loser's face on a new propaganda video. Do you think The-Big-Guy-Upstairs would mind if we all unified in prayer for Adam's death?

Fun With Sharia Boobs

Seriously, you can't make this stuff up. MEMRI:

“Being together in private means being in a room with the door closed, so that nobody can see them… A man and a woman who are not family members are not permitted [to do this], because it raises suspicions and doubts. A man and a woman who are alone together are not [necessarily] having sex, but this possibility exists, and breastfeeding provides a solution to this problem… I also insist that the breastfeeding relationship be officially documented in writing… The contract will state that this woman has suckled this man… After this, the woman may remove her hijab and expose her hair in the man’s [presence]…
Jules Crittenden is amused.

Pakistan, How To Report Stray Nuclear Material

If you are rioting in Pakistan today and you happen to run across anything that glows a lot. Please report it immediately.

pakinukereport.jpg

Via Nature.com:

"A Pakistani public information campaign about what to do if you stumble across stray radioactive material is raising hairs on the necks of Western arms control experts. The ads, which appeared last week in several Urdu-language newspapers, featured the large, yellow radiation symbol and a warning to report any lost or misplaced isotopes."
Reports Pakistani police have promised not to shoot people returning radio active material that has not yet beed added to a dirty bomb were unconfirmed.

al-Qaeda Shrinking or Growing?

Neo-Neocon questions reports that al-Qaeda is growing.

Al Qaeda is a secret organization. It doesn’t publish statistics on how many members it has, and if it did we wouldn’t believe them anyway, because for al Qaeda propaganda trumps veracity every time.

And yet lack of specific knowledge doesn’t stop commentators from tossing out pronouncements, not only about al Qaeda’s size and its recent growth or lack thereof, but also about the reasons behind said expansion...

...in fact, a good case could be made that the Iraq War has caused a decline in al Qaeda sympathy, at least in Iraq itself, where most of the victims of al Qaeda seem to have been innocent Iraqis. But the truth is, no one knows, and yet that doesn’t stop many people from acting as though they do.

Newer Cancer Drugs Slow To Reach Europe/Britain

In fact this is worst in Britain which is often held up as the “Gold Standard” for nationalized healthcare.

Via Blue Crab Boulevard: British cancer patients are substantially more likely to die of the disease than those in other western European countries because of poor access to the latest drugs, according to an authoritative report to be published today.

While more than half of patients in France, Spain, Germany and Italy have access to new treatments provided since 1985, the proportion in the UK is four out of 10.

French women with cancer are 34 per cent more likely than those in the UK to still be alive five years after being diagnosed, while French male patients have a 23 per cent higher survival rate after the same period.

The report into cancer treatment in 25 countries found the uptake of newer cancer drugs was "low and slow" in the UK as well as New Zealand, Poland, Czech Republic and South Africa.

Another Iraqi Kid Out $129.95

puttingtoytogethertiny.JPGYes that's right the Army of Ansar al-Sunnah has released another of their famous "spyplane" vids. They claim to have shot down US RC UAV with a camera.

The only problem is you can order the parts and the plane on the internet or retail stores. The planes propeller is available at Hobby Lobby and Tower Hobbies.

During my.. er... uh.. research, I found that you can get most of the stuff at a discount for as little as $130 bucks. So even if it us a US "spyplane" it will take the terrorists oh about 50,000 years to bleed us dry by shooting up our toys.

I'm not saying the plane isn't cool but it's capabilities are probably similar to this one.

Man Sentenced to Jail for Saying Islam Not Tolerant!

Religion of irony alert: Court in Azerbaijan sentences journalists to four years in jail for suggesting that Christian teachings were tolerant but Islamic teachings were not.

We'll teach you to say we're not tolerant!

Al Jazeerah:

A court in Azerbaijan has jailed two journalists for writing and printing a newspaper article that was critical of the Islamic religion and the Prophet Muhammad.

Samir Sadagatoglu, chief editor of the Senet weekly newspaper, was sentenced to four years in prison on Friday, while Rafik Tagi, a journalist at the paper, was given three years.

The court ruled that their article 'Europe and us' was insulting to Islam and Muslims for saying that European societies were more successful than Muslim ones because Christian teachings were based on peace and tolerance while Islamic values, based on the teachings and actions of Muhammad, were not.
Islamic tolerance: I do not think that word means what you think it means.

Meanwhile, FOD notices that the al Jazeera story actually picks up on something that, strangely, is omitted from most of the wire coverage. Hint: fatwa.

The Honorable Senator From Connecticut

Joe Lieberman Via WAPO:

Last week a series of coordinated suicide bombings killed more than 170 people. The victims were not soldiers or government officials but civilians -- innocent men, women and children indiscriminately murdered on their way home from work and school.

If such an atrocity had been perpetrated in the United States, Europe or Israel, our response would surely have been anger at the fanatics responsible and resolve not to surrender to their barbarism.

Unfortunately, because this slaughter took place in Baghdad, the carnage was seized upon as the latest talking point by advocates of withdrawal here in Washington. Rather than condemning the attacks and the terrorists who committed them..

Man With Concealed Carry Permit Foils Burglars

They interviewed this guy on our local news. He said the one burglar kept saying, "But I don't want to go to jail." The man who caught him said, "so I took out my pistol and convinced him that way."

Via Courier and Press: There are three Evansville residents who can say their day on Tuesday didn't go as planned.

Two are behind bars at the Henderson County (Ky.) Detention Center, and the third helped put them there.

The incident began around 6:30 a.m. when Doug Myers, a tour guide at LST 325 which is docked near Marina Pointe was on his way to work....

..."There was a man with a bicycle leaning up against the building and he was standing on the crossbars" with his head inside a broken window, Myers said.

A second man appeared to be "the lookout," he said. Police later identified the men as Doyle Gene Rich III and Nathan Allen Smith, both 18.

When the two spotted Myers, Rich allegedly ran away on foot and Smith allegedly rode away on a bicycle.

"I'm 63 years old and I knew I couldn't outrun the 18-year-old on foot," he said. "So I followed the one on the bike."

Myers, who said he did not have a cell phone with him, drove behind Smith and kept him in sight until he could pull him over.

"I told him to put his bike in the back of my truck and then I told him to get in the back of the truck," Myers said.

Smith said he didn't want to go to jail and refused, Myers said.

"I had a small-caliber pistol, and I pulled it out and insisted that he get in the back of the truck," Myers said.

Heh, He insisted, nice work....

Mullah Dadullah About to Meet Allah, or Maybe Escape....AGAIN!

mullah_dadullah.jpg
We've reported that the Taliban's tactical commander, Mullah Dadullah, has been captured before, but this time reports are that he is surrounded. He's a serious bigwhig in the Taliban comand structure. Officially he's #2 to Mullah Omar, but he seems to be the real boots-on-the-ground commander.

What frightens me about the report that 200 Taliban have been surrounded is that it is Afghani forces doing the surrounding. As we've seen in past large-scale engagements, the Afghans are prone to negotiating with the Taliban rather than engage them. While the negotiations commence, the leadership gets out of Dodge. Many have argued that this is how Osama bin Laden got away when he was surrounded at Tora Bora.

Adjmal Nakshbandi, the translator for Italian journalist Daniele Mastrogiacomo, is said to have been beheaded on Dadullah's orders.....and the Afghans want to negotiate with this guy? Did any of you watch the History Channel's special on William Tecumseh Sherman? I did, and I believe our military strategists could learn a thing or two.....

AP:

Afghan forces have trapped up to 200 Taliban fighters in a southern village, possibly including the militia's military commander, demanding they surrender or come under attack, Afghan officials said Monday....

Khan told The Associated Press that Mullah Dadullah, a close aide to Taliban supreme leader Mullah Omar, and other regional Taliban commanders were at the meeting when the village was surrounded. The security forces were still positioned around the village on Monday, he said.

"We are trying to get him to surrender and to arrest these Taliban without fighting," he said.....

In unrelated Taliban news, Zarqawi chic rolls right along:
Separately, an intelligence service employee was kidnapped and beheaded by suspected Taliban fighters at a home in Ghazni province, southwest of Kabul, said deputy governor Mohammad Kazim Allayar.

Miss America 1944 Still Has Good Aim

Via CNN: WAYNESBURG, Kentucky (AP) -- Miss America 1944 has a talent that probably has never appeared on a beauty pageant stage: She fired a handgun to shoot out a vehicle's tires and stop an intruder.

Venus Ramey, 82, confronted a man on her farm in south-central Kentucky last week after she saw her dog run into a storage building where thieves had previously made off with old farm equipment.

Ramey said the man told her he would leave. "I said, 'Oh, no you won't,' and I shot their tires so they couldn't leave," Ramey said.

She had to balance on her walker as she pulled out a snub-nosed .38-caliber handgun.

"I didn't even think twice. I just went and did it," she said. "If they'd even dared come close to me, they'd be 6 feet under by now."... ..."I'm trying to live a quiet, peaceful life and stay out of trouble, and all it is, is one thing after another," she said.

Beautiful.

RIP Cpl. Jason Beadles

JASONBEADLESPAWBEARERS.jpgI just wanted to take a minute to acknowledge the great people of LaPorte Indiana and mark the service and passing of Cpl. Beadles. LaPorte has lost seven soldiers in Iraq. Quite a large sacrafice for such a small midwestern town.

Via Stan Maddux at the Post-Tribune:

LaPORTE -- Family members stood bravely, side by side, holding each other underneath a funeral home canopy. They watched as the hearse opened, exposing the casket that carried Cpl. Jason Beadles home to Indiana.

Beadles, who served in an Army engineering battalion that supported the 101st and was stationed in Camp Liberty in Baghdad, died April 12 while working cleanup duty. The military has released no additional information.

A plane carrying the 22-year old Beadles flew in from Maryland into South Bend landing about 8 a.m.

About a dozen units from the LaPorte County Sheriff's Office, LaPorte Police Department and Indiana State Police along with 16 riders from the Wall Gang, a group of motorcycle enthusiasts dedicated to honoring local veterans, drove the 30 miles from the South Bend airport.

Harry Reid's Main Concern

reid_will_break_you.jpgIs Senate majority leader Harry Reid concerned about America lsoping in Iraq? Is he concerned about the Iraqis, who will die in even greater numbers, if his "redeployment" is undertaken? No, Harry's main concern is how to play the politics of the war to, "pick up Senate seats."

FNS Via The Corner: Bill Kristol: John McCain said on Wednesday the Democrats are playing small politics with this war. The Democrats squealed. The next day, Harry Reid, the Democratic Senate majority leader, said . . . "We're going to pick up Senate seats as a result of this war. Senator Schumer has shown me numbers that are compelling and astounding."

What were the numbers that Senator Schumer, the head of the Democratic Senatorial Committee, showed him? They weren't numbers about casualties. They weren't numbers about whether getting out would hurt or help Al Qaida. They were poll numbers about Senate races. So the Democrats are playing politics.

For the Senate majority leader to say this war will cost the Republicans Senate seats is really a disgrace. And I think McCain is vindicated in his notion that he has made a serious argument about how we have to win. The Democrats have made no argument about the consequences of following their policy. They just want to pick up Senate seats.

Sundanese Goat Dowrys $50 Down 5&1/4

Via The Beeb:

A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal.

The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders.

They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi.

"We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said.

Déjà Vu

As the Democrats work to create a bill that would leave the Iraqi people to terrorist thugs, Larwyn points us to this article by Andrew Walden Via American Thinker:

"Do we sit on the sidelines and watch a population slaughtered, or do we marshal military force and put an end to it?" -- Senator George McGovern, August 21, 1978
The "it" McGovern wanted US troops to put an end to was the killing of millions of Cambodians in the late 1970s by the communist Pol Pot dictatorship. Three and a half years after congressional Democrats made that slaughter possible by cutting off all US aid to anti-communist forces with their so-called December, 1974 "Foreign Assistance Act", their leader McGovern had made a complete reversal and was suddenly calling for a new US war in Southeast Asia.

Why is this little-remembered footnote in history relevant today? Congressional Democrats' March vote for phased withdrawal from Iraq is a replay of McGovern's treacherous thirty-five year old script with McGovern consulting from the sidelines. Last November, the sixty-two members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, led by Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) and Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) sat down with McGovern to work out a strategy for withdrawal from Iraq. Those discussions led to the mis-named "Iraq Accountability Act", now heading for a veto from President Bush after passing the House and the Senate in March.

The more things change……

Al Qaeda Behind Abbas Assassination Plot?

We've written extensively about al Qaeda's presence in Gaza, so the story as outlined today in WND is plausible.

WND:

The officials, associated with Fatah, told WND assassination attempts against Abbas – including explosives planted in January along the route of his motorcade and reportedly intended for detonation while he was on its way to a meeting in Gaza and explosives found buried near his Gaza residence – were attributed to al-Qaida cells in the Gaza Strip and to groups in Gaza working on behalf of the global jihad organization.
As if Hamas wasn't also part of that global jihad organization....

Matthew 28: 1-10

(Sticky, scroll down for latests posts)

28:1 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” 8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

Nuclear Theft in Pakistan

Oh. Snap. Can someon please explain to me just WTF a "uranium based Ash analyzer" is and whether I should just be generally afraid about lax security in a state which is increasingly becoming Talibanized, or if I should be specifically afraid and start dropping some brick shaped turds?

The story says that the "ash analyzer" isn't dangerous......as long as the seal isn't broken. Let me just clarify....if the seal is broken thdn any one within a 1.5 km is in danger. That's about a mile. Which seems, you know, kind of freaking dangerous!

UPDATE: A friend e-mails and says that since this is a miniscule amount of uranium, there is really no radiation threat. Seems like the 1.5 km warning was simply made up.

Three Juicy Bits, and a Break

Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy!

I've decided to take a respite from blogging for a few weeks to attend to some important business. It occurred to me, however, that I shouldn't do this without leaving you with three juicy bits (all of which are easily located on the Intertubes today.)

The first order of business is linked by Drudge. From the WSJ (complete article unavailable without subscription), there is speculation that Pelosi actually violated US law by conducting her flawed "shadow diplomacy" campaign. USA Today and the WaPo are also none too pleased (!). Undermining the Constitutional authority of the President, in wartime or in peace, is illegal. Logan Act, passed in 1799. Google it. Better yet, read it:

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply, himself or his agent, to any foreign government or the agents thereof for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.

Next, we have a prime catch by Johnny Dollar. As Keith Olbyloon's proverbial thorn, he demonstrated quite hilariously that Olbermann doctored a quote by Bill O'Reilly to smear him on his daily leftwing hate-fest of a show (SOP for the failed sports anchor.)

The leftwing smear site "Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting," I'm sure, is all over Olbermann for this. NOT.

Lastly, we have a selection from the "liberal canard-busters" file. There is no "BLOOD FOR OIL" or "WAR FOR OIL." If you Bush-bashers have a problem with that, take it up with your pals at CNN:

Despite claims by some critics that the Bush administration invaded Iraq to take control of its oil, the first contracts with major oil firms from Iraq's new government are likely to go not to U.S. companies, but rather to companies from China, India, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
Stay well, all. I'll be back shortly. No mercy for America's enemies, foreign or domestic.

Happy Easter - He is Risen!
