Nuclear Theft in Pakistan

Oh. Snap. Can someon please explain to me just WTF a "uranium based Ash analyzer" is and whether I should just be generally afraid about lax security in a state which is increasingly becoming Talibanized, or if I should be specifically afraid and start dropping some brick shaped turds?

The story says that the "ash analyzer" isn't dangerous......as long as the seal isn't broken. Let me just clarify....if the seal is broken thdn any one within a 1.5 km is in danger. That's about a mile. Which seems, you know, kind of freaking dangerous!

UPDATE: A friend e-mails and says that since this is a miniscule amount of uranium, there is really no radiation threat. Seems like the 1.5 km warning was simply made up.
