Looks evil, loves al-Qaeda, who knows?

Via The Blotter: A suspect sought by the United States for allegedly plotting to establish a terror training camp in the northwest United States was extradited from the Czech Republic to the United States, where he arrived today.

Oussama Kassir, a Lebanon-born Swedish citizen who is an alleged associate of Abu Hamza al Masri, the radical cleric currently jailed on terror-related charges in Britain, was arrested on Sunday in the Czech Republic after a court ruled there was no reason to refuse a 2006 U.S. extradition request.

In August, an American credited with a key role in the terror training camp scheme pleaded guilty to terrorism charges n federal court in New York. James Ujaama, a Muslim convert from Seattle, admitted he tried to set up the camp in Bly, Ore., in 1999 and had informed Abu Hamza that he and others were stockpiling weapons and ammunition in the United States. The charges carried a potential prison sentence of up to 30 years.

Start connecting the dots between liberal immigration laws and jihad activity. While my guess is that most of these "Swedish citizens" were refugees from Arab countries, it's also possible that some of them were "home grown". Probably not hard to tell the difference between the two.

Scaninavia's liberal refugee laws have led to the place crawling with terrorists. With the cooperation of Sweden and Morocco, it looks like at least one of them has been captured. Via Aaron at Internet Haganah this news. Since it's a Swedish publication, you won't be surprised that the emphasis of the story is not on the fact that a bona fide al Qaeda commander had been living in Sweden, or the fact that he had apparently set up a cell there based in a mosque, but on the heresay of the terrorist's daughter who claims he had been abused in a Moroccon jail. They even bring out the torture card:

Ahmed Essafri, the Swedish citizen of Moroccan descent arrested in Morocco on December 25th, is reported to have spent ten days in a prison cell with his hands and feet bound and his eyes blindfolded. Moroccan security services have been questioning him about a mosque in the Brandbergen suburb of Stockholm, Dagens Nyheter reports.....

"The questions were all just about Sweden, about a mosque in Brandbergen, about who went there, what they did and what they talked about," said Essafri's daughter.

He was also quizzed about another Swede of Moroccan origin, who had his assets frozen by the US Finance Department in early December 2006...

The family previously told Dagens Nyheter that they received information from a Moroccan police officer that Essafri was arrested following a request from the USA....

"But this is psychological torture. He has now developed severe anxiety and an old stomach ulcer has resurfaced," she said...

On Friday he appeared in a Moroccan anti-terror court accused of participating in a recruitment network for foreign jihadis in Iraq.

Mohamed Moumou's extremist activities date back to the mid-1990's, when he traveled to Afghanistan to participate in the al Qaida-run Khalden terrorist training camp. A Moroccan national with Swedish citizenship, Moumou was the uncontested leader of an extremist group centered around the Brandbergen Mosque in Stockholm, Sweden. Moumou's leadership derives from connections to senior al Qaida leaders, some of whom he had met in Afghanistan and Pakistan in the late-1990s. Moumou reportedly served, at some time in the past, as Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi's representative in Europe for issues related to chemical and biological weapons. Moreover, Moumou reportedly maintains ties to al-Zarqawi's inner circle in Iraq.

However, Moumou could have been questioned about Najmuddin Faraj Ahmad, a Kurdish refugee in Norway who is a founder of the Army of Ansar al Sunna group. Long time readers know that there is a special place in hell for members of Jaish Ansar al Sunnah. And we've documented a long trail which connects Ansar al-Sunna to Sweden.

Perhaps Essafri "Moumu" is a critical link between radical Arab and Kurdish Salafis in Scandinavia? Since Essafri "Moumou" is being charged with recruiting jihadis to Iraq, and The Army of Ansar al-Sunna has worked with al Qaeda in Iraq in the past--both in an operational capacity, with members of al Qaeda (Tawhid wal Jihad) and more recently with Ansar's joining of the Islamic State of Iraq--this seems plausible. Moreover, Essafri is said to have been a part of the predecessor organization, Ansar al-Islam. Who else belonged to that organization? Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the former leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, now deceased.

Here is Najmuddin Faraj Ahmad's (aka Mullah Krekar) rap sheet, courtesy the U.S. Treasure Department. As of this writing, Krekar continues to fight extradition from Norway to Kurdish Iraq where a short trial leading to a death sentence is assured:

Krekar Provides Support to Ansar al-Sunnah
Najmuddin Faraj Ahmad, a.k.a. Mullah Krekar (Krekar), founded in December 2001 the Kurdish terrorist group Ansar al-Islam (AI), now known as Ansar al-Sunnah (AS), and served as AI's first leader.

As of spring 2005, a non-governmental organization founded by Krekar sent money to terrorist organizations and actively recruited European citizens into terrorist organizations. Branches of the NGO were, as of spring 2005, overtly and covertly gathering money and recruiting personnel for AS. Krekar has visited Germany several times and during these trips conducted fundraising for AS and performed logistical activities. Information shows that in January 2006, Krekar may have routed funds through associates in Bulgaria and Iraq to support AS in Iraq.

As of fall 2005, AS reportedly had established at least two sniper teams in Iraq; the founder of these teams claimed to be Krekar's representative in Iraq. Krekar also traveled regularly from Norway to the Iraqi Kurdish area. During one of his longer stays in northern Iraq, Krekar appears to have recruited and trained combatants.

Other Information
Apart from the instances of direct facilitation of terrorist groups which form the basis for his designation, Krekar has exhorted others to violence and supplied religious justifications for murder. In a 2004 interview, Krekar supported holy war in Iraq and identified legitimate targets, stating "Not just the officers, but also the civilians who help the Americans. If anyone so much as fetches them a glass of water, he can be killed. ... Everyone is a target. If an aid organization gives the Americans as much as a glass of water, they will become a target."

Three would-be jihadis were arrested for plotting to a terror attack against a Christian minister in Sweden. One of those arrested was the founder of the Islamist web forum Mujahedon.net, known only as 'Mehdi'. The Islamist forum, like most terrorist websites, has a disclaimer that it is unmoderated:

We do not encourage "terrorism"

. And we follow Swedish law and orders, i.e. freedom of speech

Interestingly, the three first met at the Terrorist Media website--a site originally dedicated to uncovering and unmasking terrorist propaganda which we've linked to on occasion. Notice that the url for Terrorist Media website includes "nukem" in it.

"Mehdi" has also been twice convicted on drug related charges and has served time in jail. Perhaps this is where he became interested in militant Islam?

One of the three men detained is a native born Swedish national who denies converting to Islam. His attraction to helping terrorists? It seems that something about the Islamist hatred of Israel and Jews resonated with "Johan".

The last of the men charged is the son of Bosnian refugees.

Rohde says that the 12 cartoonists have had their lives overturned and are now living in hiding, after receiving several death threats.

"And a daugter of one of cartoonist the was sought out by 12 Moslem males - they were looking to get to her. Fortunately she wasn’t at school," Jens Rohde said.

Wow, this is the first time that a Western government has forced an online publisher of blasphemy offline. What's really interesting is that the Swedish government cites national security as the cause.

There is a general call for solidarity for all Swedish internet sites by the Stockholm Specatator to republish the cartoon in defiance of the government's capitulation.

According to Dagens Nyheter, the Swedish security services (Säpo), in collusion with Foreign Minister Leila Freivalds, have forced the website SD-Kuriren offline for publishing the Jyllands-Posten cartoons (SD-Kuriren is the house organ of the hard-right Swedish Democrats).

“We think that this was the best decision after we were contacted by the Foreign Ministry and Säpo,” Anna Larsson, vice president of hosting compant Levonline, told DN. Freivalds told DN that “it is terrible that a small group of extremists are exposing Swedes to danger [by reprinting the cartoons].”

UPDATE: Via Michelle Malkin, here is an English translation of some the original article mentioned.

A Swedish Internet provider has shut down the website of an extreme right fringe party after authorities voiced concerns over a Prophet Mohammed drawing contest posted on the site.

Internet provider Levonline shut down the Sweden Democrats’ website late Thursday following discussions with both the foreign ministry and the National security police.

The foreign minister, Laila Freivalds however denies that the ministry ordered the internet provider to shut down the website. Speaking to reporters she said the foreign ministry and the security police simply informed the company of possible ramifications for Swedes abroad....

In a press release on the party’s website the party says it pulled the drawings after considering the consequences for Swedes living in the the muslim world.

14 While looking at pictures of various "protests" in various countries, I can't help but wonder why there are so many signs written in English being utilized in countries other than England. Many of them use the same verbage as those in England. Rather than being frightened by these persons who seem to want to point the finger at us no matter what their actual agenda, I suppose we should feel flattered we're so special and popular. And why no protests in the U.S.? I guess they've heard the phrase "don't sh*t where you eat".

17 The pictures are available throughout the western world - notice how all the protests and threats of violence are in a handful of Western European (Progressive) countries. They can smell the stench of weakness.

The signs are predominately in English cause the mullahs & boys back home can't read Danish or Dutch etc - most Western Europeans have a working handle on English - and they can send their threats of violence to Bush and America from the safety of 3000+ miles away.

Yesterday (Thursday) Mullah Krekar, the alleged leader of the Islamist group Ansar al-Islam who has been living in Norway as a refugee since 1991, said that the publication of the Muhammad cartoons was a declaration of war. “The war has begun,” he told Norwegian journalists. Mr Krekar said Muslims in Norway are preparing to fight. It does not matter if the governments of Norway and Denmark apologize, the war is on.

Although the Danish newspaper apologised, many European newspapers have reprinted the slanderous cartoons. Some have called it solidarity, I call it collective slander. Apparently much of Europe does not realise the difference between ‘freedom of speech’ and unacceptable slander. At least Great Britain did not jump on the bandwagon like the rest of these losers did.

While supposed ‘freedom of speech’ advocates chant on one side and Muslims argue for an apology on the other, I wonder whether this row would be so popular if it had not centered on Islam. The media has already proven to be islamophobic, and reading comments on this issue at this blog and others will evidence that many backing the newspapers are also against Islam.

As stated by Omar and Aquacool, the inconsistency is that when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denied the Holocaust there was an uproar and calls for him to retract his “anti-semitic” words. When a photograph that showed American coffins on their way back from Iraq was deemed offensive there was an uproar and the photographer lost her job. In each case action was taken against the so-called transgressor and the world did not come together to reprieve them, chanting freedom of speech and expression as a justification.

The first consistency so far in this issue is that Managing Editor of France Soir, the paper which has reprinted the cartoons, has been sacked. No doubt many will argue this is wrong, when the reality is that this should have been the standard from the outset.

And you lie if you say that images of Mohammed have not been published for hundreds of years. As a matter of fact, one of your favorite Islamic Republics? has been selling reproductions of Mohammed for years. This is nothing but an attempt to silence your critics. And we will not be silent. The majority of criticism I have seen of Islam I have found to be quite valid.

Isn't this one of the signs of the apocalypse? Word on the streets is that French and German newspapers have begun to reprint cartoons deemed so offensive by Muslims that the offending countries should be a) boycotted b) condemned by the U.N. c) cyber attacked d) bombed.

Islam is the only prominent world-wide religion which still adheres to the notion that blasphemy ought to be a criminal act. Worse, many Muslims, following the lead of Muhammed himself, advocate the death penalty as punishment.

A few days ago we brought you the news that the Glory Brigades in Northern Europe had threatened suicide attacks against Denmark. Today, word from friend of The Jawa Report Evan Kohlmann that the Mujahideen Army in Iraq has threatened Danish and Norwegian interests.

Settling for [merely] boycotting these cowards is a position of weakness that is indicative of a feeble nation that does not stand up in defense of its Prophet and the principles that it believes in. They started [the battle] and they should suffer its consequences.
