ABC Reported on "Phony Heroes" 3 Days Before Rush

Where was Media Splatters and their ever-capable army of incompetent interns? Did they miss this? Brian Ross of ABC did a report on scam artists that scam the military and the public, and they mentioned Jesse Macbeth in particular. Media Splatters? Nowhere to be found:

Just days before Rush Limbaugh was attacked by a number of press outlets for discussing "phony soldiers" on the air, ABC's Brian Ross did a segment on "World News with Charles Gibson" dealing with "phony heroes...scam artists...posing as the war heroes they never were, claiming credit for acts of courage in Iraq and Afghanistan."

Marvelously, this story was aired on Monday, September 24, just three days before Limbaugh made his comments. And, as noted in a NewsBusters posting by the MRC's Brent Baker, the report even mentioned the same "phony soldier," Jesse Macbeth (pictured to the right), that Limbaugh did on his program Thursday.

SO WHERE WAS MEDIA SPLATTERS? Do the have a "full transcript" of the ABC report that they could snip-snip for maximum smear potential? Why didn't they take on Brian Ross with their trademark brand of "snip-snip-then-put-into-Keith-Olbermann's-teleprompter?"

What’s obviously going on here is that antiwar advocates were deeply damaged by the MoveOn.org ad smearing General David Petraeus. They were desperate to try to climb their way out of the hole they were in — and so they decided this was their opportunity to find a way out. MoveOn.org attacks Petraeus, they say, but Rush Limbaugh attacks members of the military who want to withdraw as “phony soldiers.” So if Republicans are going to criticize us for what we said about General Petraeus, they should criticize Limbaugh for his slander.

The problem, of course, is that that the charge leveled against Limbaugh is obviously false; his phrase “phony soldiers” applied to Jesse Adam Macbeth — and the phrase itself was clearly based on the news headline.

This effort to manufacture outrage does not sustain even minimal scrutiny — which doesn’t mean this story won’t be picked up by some news outlets. But in the end, the truth will out. The Left in America clearly wants to take Limbaugh out, and for obvious reasons: he is a deeply influential conservative voice and during the last 20 years he has changed American politics and the American media in profound ways. The Left hates him — but they have found no way to stop him. Like the Mississippi, he just keeps rolling along. And one gets the feeling that (as Churchill said in another context) he will continue to roll on full flood, to broad lands and bright days.

Most usually the charge is insulting the head of state, damaging a state's reputation or some otherwise Orwellian charge of damaging society by speaking the truth or expressing an opinion. HRINFO expressed today its deep worries regarding the new sentence issued by Ras Kheima court against Majan.net writer Khalid El-Asly and Majan.net boss Muhammed Shouhi who received 5 months in prison. This is the second case against Majan.net; another two cases are expected to make it to court.

The second case against Majan.net saw a new development as the verdict against El-Asly and Shouhi was based on the criminal law on grounds of defamation in addition to the testimony of Ras Kheima electronic government's head who alleged that El-Asly is the same writer who calls himself" Hair" . The testimony wasn't based on substantiated grounds. The court didn't take into account the claims made by Asly and Shouhi's defense who said that the testimony is not impartial as the head of Ras Kheima electronic government kept on attacking Majan.net staff on newspapers before giving his testimony which is lacking technical evidence.

4 Red Cross Workers Freed in Afghanistan

Good news from Afghanistan (via the Times of India):

KABUL: Four employees with the International Committee of the Red Cross, kidnapped earlier this week in Afghanistan, were freed in good health on Saturday, officials said.

The four men - one from Myanmar, one from Macedonia and two from Afghanistan - were taken captive on Wednesday in central Wardak province while working to secure the release of a German hostage.

Mohabullah, the police director of criminal investigations of the Sayad Abad district where the four were taken, said the men had been released and were in good health. Mohabullah, who goes by one name, said he had no news about the German.

Continued prayers for the German hostage, Rudolf Blechschmidt, who was kidnapped in July along with his fellow engineer Ruediger Diedrich, who was murdered by their Taliban captors when he collapsed on a forced march through the mountainous region. Several Afghan co-workers were also abducted, and their fate remains unclear.

L.A. Times : Ahmadinejad Walks Away With a Win

One of the world's truly dangerous men, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, left New York a clear winner this week, and he can thank the arrogance of the American academy and most of the U.S. news media's studied indifference for his victory.

If the blood-drenched history of the century just past had taught American academics one thing, it should have been that the totalitarian impulse knows no accommodation with reason. You cannot change the totalitarian mind through dialogue or conversation, because totalitarianism -- however ingenious the superstructure of faux ideas with which it surrounds itself -- is a creature of the will and not the mind. That's a large lesson, but what should have made Ahmadinejad's appearance at Columbia University this week a wholly avoidable debacle was the school's knowledge of its own, very specific history.

The author proceeds to take Columbia to task for its close relationship with the Italian fascists and the Nazis in the 1930s, then turns his attention to the MSM's willful ignorance of Ahmadinejad and the threat he represents:

There are a couple of reasons for the media's general refusal to engage with radical Islamic revivalists, like Ahmadinejad. He belongs to a particularly aggressive school of radical Shiite Islam, the Haghani, which lives in expectation of the imminent coming of the Madhi, a kind of Islamic messiah, who will bring peace and justice -- along with universal Islamic rule -- to the entire world. Serious members of this school -- and Ahmadinejad, who was a brilliant university student, is a very serious member -- believe they must act to speed the Mahdi's coming. "The wave of the Islamic revolution" would soon "reach the entire world," he has promised.

As a fundamentally secular institution, the American press always has had a hard time coming to grips with the fact that Islamists like the Iranian president mean what they say and that they really do believe what they say they believe.

PSA: Las Vegas Police Searching for Small Girl [Updated, Bumped, BREAK OUT THE CHAMPAGNE!!!!]

The photos here are of a small girl named Madison who investigators described as horribly sexually assaulted . All they have to track her down is a video of the rape.

So they released the photos of her (deleted) and the scumbag who raped her(above right). They have a guy who turned in the tape but not the guy on the tape or most importantly, the little girl. Contact The Nye County Sheriff if you know the girl or the slimebucket in the photos.

LAS VEGAS - Nevada authorities on Friday identified a man they want to question as they search for a young girl shown being sexually assaulted in a homemade videotape.
Chester Arthur Stiles, 34, was being called a "person of interest" in the search for a girl with haunting eyes who authorities believe was 4 or 5 years old when she was raped and sexually assaulted in the video, Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo said.

The girl is called "Madison" on the tape, and it is "possible" that the man shown in it is Stiles, DeMeo said.

Stiles, whose last known address was Las Vegas, also was wanted on unrelated state and federal warrants on charges of sexual assault and lewdness with a minor under 14 years of age, the sheriff said.

The police say the only way they will be able to rescue the girl is with the help of the media.

LAS VEGAS — A young girl who was seen being sexually assaulted in a homemade videotape has been found and is safe with family members and sheriff's officials, an investigator said Friday.

"We found the victim. She's safe," Nye County sheriff's Detective David Boruchowitz told The Associated Press.

Now, let's hope Chester Arthur Stiles is found. Hopefully, whoever ID's him will have the fortitude to pound the snot out of him before calling the cops.

Tucker/Menchaca Torturer/Murderer Killed! UPDATE: Now with VIDEO!

Bumped: Video added of Abu Usama al-Tunisi's hideout getting bombed in an airstrike. Video at the end of this post.

The man who lead the al Qaeda cell responsible for the brutal murders of Thomas Tucker and Kristian Menchaca has been killed. The group later released two videos showing the bodies of the two soldiers being desecrated.

The cell also killed Spc. David J. Babineau before they took Tucker and Menchaca hostage. Others in the cell had been previously killed or captured.

In fact, some time ago I was asked by the US military to send them a copy of the video to be turned over to Iraqi prosecutors in the case. I don't know what happened, but I pray they got the death sentence.

Literally hundreds of others in the military have asked for the video. Some of them knew the victims and felt they needed to see it for some sense of closure. Some of them were very close to the family. Some in the family.

Others wanted it so they could use it in training to show what our enemies are really like, as they portray themselves in their own propaganda videos.

The first of the two Tucker-Menchaca videos is so sickening, that it's hard to describe. But it includes a decapitated head. The second Tucker-Menchaca video shows the victims' bodies being dragged behind a truck and later lit on fire.

Death is too good for Abu Usama al-Tunisi and all those involved in the murders of Thomas Tucker and Kristian Menchaca. His death will not bring them back, but I will sleep with a smile on my face knowing this piece of filth has been sent to hell.

French Oil Giant TOTAL to Continue Operations in Burma

Total SA is one of the biggest foreign investors in Burma. Per Pravda, "A spokeswoman for Total told Dow Jones Newswires that Total had no intention of leaving because a "forced retreat" would open the way for competitors to take its place." (The French retreat from everything except the advance of democracy.)

Wiki: Although Total claims to maintain a "socially responsible investment" program, there has been recent controversy over its corporate involvement in Burma, despite recent European Union sanctions on new investment in the country due to its poor human rights record. Democratic activists have accused Total of propping up that country's brutal military junta...Total is currently involved in a joint venture with the military regime developing an offshore gas field in the Andaman Sea. The Burmese government in exile also criticises Total for allegedly funding rape, murder and genocide in Burma, as a result of hiring members of the military to guard their pipeline.

Total has been taken to court by six Burmese people who claimed they were used as forced labour in the preparation of Total's pipeline in Burma. Total paid the villages to drop the case in 2005. In 2005 a 14 year old girl was allegedly gang raped by sixteen members of the Burmese army employed by Total to guard their pipeline. Many activists feel Total has not taken adequate steps to bring those responsible to account.

Seawitch says: The courageous people of Burma are mostly employing peaceful tactics to gain their freedom from the military junta. They are being met with clubs, bullets, clubs, batons, tear gas and now the junta has taken away the most potent weapon the Burmese people have: the internet. She urges readers to contact the Chinese embassy.

Al Qaeda Terrorist Arrested in Italy: Targetted US Bases in Iraq

Italian police have arrested an Iraqi man named Hussein Saber Fadhil said to be part of a group linked to al Qaeda. Some reports claim Fadhil was arrested at the Venice airport, and others in Padua, but it is clear that the arrest warrant was issued by a judge in Venice.

Hussien Saber Fadhil was on his way to Damascus, Syria, where he would then meet up with other jihadis who have already been involved in multiple kidnappings and murder in Iraq. The group is said to be "close" to al Qaeda in Iraq, whether it is the Islamic State of Iraq--which would make it more than "close" to al Qaeda, that is al Qaeda--or other Salafist terrorists affiliated with them has not been disclosed.

Reports say that Hussien Saber Fadhil is a former member of the Baath partyand indicate that he felt betrayed by nationalist fighters who have turned on al Qaeda in Diyala and Anbar. He recently learned to fly an airplane. The plot would have packed a small airplane with explosives using it as an suicide bomb.

The 45 year old man is said to have been carrying with him items which he would use in the plot. My best guess would be some kind of GPS equipment.

The police are also searching the homes of other Iraqis in Italy.

UPDATE: This AP story sheds some more light on Fadhil, that he:

had been in touch with aides of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the founder of al-Qaida in Iraq ....

"It is documented that he was in contact with the al-Qaida in Iraq terrorist group," D'Auria told The Associated Press by telephone. "He was organizing an attack against American bases in Iraq."

The attack would have employed suicide bombers, anti-tank weapons and ultra-light helicopters that the group planned to buy from an Italian company, investigators said.

Three other homes were searched, but the men were not arrested.

Hussein has lived in Italy for 25 years selling kebobs at a kiosk. 25 years in Italy, and he still supported al Qaeda? Talk about an integration problem.

He was sending $4,200 a month to Iraq to support the al Qaeda cell. How can a kebob seller afford to send that much money a month to Iraq? I'm guessing he also raised funds from others. Probably start at the mosque he attended and go from there. more...

Pigman: A Hero for Infidels!

Maybe I'm the last guy to get on board with Bosch Fawstin's "Pigman" superhero, but his graphic novel isn't even out yet and I've become a fan after listening to Tom Paine's interview with him at the Shire News Network's most recent podcast. You really have to listen to the whole interview to get a sense of where Fawstin is coming from.

Himself an ex-Muslim, Fawstin describes Pigman this way:

Pigman is a ruthless, counter-jihad superhero comic book created by an ex-Muslim cartoonist as a response to 9/11. It brings him face to face with the enemy in the form of his brother.

Pigman's superhero mask is made out of pig skin in an extra effort to offend the jihadis he fights.

The force is strong in this one.

Since Fawstin was born a Muslim, expect a death fatwa within hours of the book being published. The only thing the jihadis hate more than Scandinavians making fun of them in cartoon form is ex-Muslim criticism.

That is, if it is ever published. I can't imagine a publisher with the balls.....

Media Splatters: Anotomy of A Smear

The Media Matters/MSNBC/DNC axis goes into full swing again with a tragically ludicrous, lying smearjob and gets a gross of eggs on its face.

The axis of stoopid tries to pretend that Rush Limbaugh trashing serial antiwarbot Democrat fraud "soldier" Jesse Macbeth, with whom we are all intimately familiar, was actually attacking "the phony troops" who disagree with the war.

Who else couldn't be bothered to find out the truth or the basic facts? Salon, many local TV stations and their "news" teams, John Kerry, Jim Webb, and on and on. You can watch the lie spread like a virus at Radio Equalizer, who's highlighted news and MSM coverage taken from the Media Splatters site with no fact-checking, no comment from the Limbaugh show, or anything. The idiots just ran with it.

Sunni Insurgents Murder Iraqi Police lieutenant and Wife in Adhamiyah

BAGHDAD — The bodies of a murdered Sunni Iraqi police lieutenant and his wife were recovered in Baghdad’s Adhamiyah neighborhood Sep. 25.

The couple had been abducted several days before by Sunni insurgents, said relatives.

The bodies were discovered dumped in a pile of trash beneath a pedestrian overpass in the Sunni-dominated neighborhood of Adhamiyah in Baghdad.

Both victims appeared to have been killed by gunshot wounds to the head.

The police lieutenant also had drill holes in his face that indicate he was tortured before being executed, said 1st Lt. Daniel Lake with the 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, the U.S. unit responsible for security in the Adhamiyah area.

Lake said the lieutenant and his wife – both Sunnis – were most likely targeted by Sunni terrorists associated with Al Qaeda in Iraq or Islamic Government of Iraq because of their involvement with security efforts.

“They killed an upstanding local who was trying to help the Iraqi government defeat terrorists,” Lake said. more...

Futureweapons: PORN BOMB

I've talked about the use of porn as a weapon before. As much as I'm against porn in principle, I'd much rather saturate a country with pictures of hot nude women than with bombs.

Tripwire at Zone-H writes:

If you get exposed, and then used, to western porn, well, not only your private morality but even your public morality will became weaker over time. You’ll begin questioning the social order, family values and traditions, religion, women role in society, the government, everything: it’s much more effective than a high altitude bombing, indeed.

So, if sending porn to Saudi Arabia will weaken the power of the clerics, I'm all for it. I'm convinced that if things continue along the present tragectory, we will eventually be forced in to a hot war with them. And the Pakistanis. And Sudan. Etc, etc, etc.

If porn changes their culture so that we won't have to fight them, I can support the intentional distribution of it. Even if you despise porn, you have to admit that it's a lot less harmful than war.

But if there are really long term benefits to this tool in our arsenal, then it seems there are also near-term costs. Traditional Islamic societies hate us for a number of reasons, but our decadent views on sexuality are on that list.

So, the porn bomb? I dunno, makes sense to me on one level. But on another level I wonder whether we should give Muslims yet another reason to hate us?
