(Northern Ireland) Two homosexual men have been convicted in Reading Crown Court of molesting a young boy, starting when he was an infant and lasting until he was four and one-half years old.

A mannequin-dresser, 34-year-old James Rae (pic) and 39-year-old Alan Howitt, a former soldier, persuaded a female friend to allow them to babysit her son. The men were found guilty of repeated sex crimes against the boy.

Judge Christopher Critchlow heard last week that Howitt and Rae, lovers for more than 10 years, repeatedly sexually abused the tot over a four-year period - simulating sex acts with him and forcing him to have oral sex while he slept.

They photographed some of the assaults and one act filmed on video was described by the judge as "about as bad an example as there could be" of an indecent attack on a child.

The pair, who have since ended their relationship, stood side-by-side in the dock to be sentenced for offences against the boy, now aged seven.

In June last year Howitt admitted possessing and making indecent images of children, and four counts of indecent assault.

Rae was convicted of the same four sexual assault charges on the boy between the age of six months and when he was four-and-a-half.

Heh, contrary to frequent pronouncements that male homosexuality and pedophilia are not related, James Rae and Alan Howitt are examples that they sometimes are.

(Hartford, Michigan) In June 2007, two former foster parents and same-sex couple, Kurt Alfred Amundson, 42, and Robert George Shafer, 43, were indicted by a federal grand jury for alleged sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography.

Both were charged with exploiting a child by producing images of a young boy engaged in sexually explicit conduct. It seems the boy, described as under 13 years old, was a foster child of Amundson and Shafer.

In the latest development, both Amundson and Shafer have pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids to producing images of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Investigators found several images of child pornography, including images of a child befriended by the two men, on computers, cameras, CDs and floppy disks seized from the Hartford men's residence in June 2006, according to a news release.

Authorities said the two were licensed as foster-care providers and were in the process of adopting a child for whom they were serving as foster parents. The foster child and the child befriended by the two men alleged that Shafer and Amundson sexually assaulted them, according to the news release.

When asked about his role as a same-sex foster parent he said mentoring children was not satisfying enough for him.

"It was helpful, but I wanted to carry the relationship beyond that," he said in the article.

Shafer and Amundson are scheduled to be sentenced, respectively, in October and November. They each face a mandatory minimum 15 years in prison with a maximum 30 years. Fines of up to $250,000 are also possible.

A 25-year-old window cleaner, Keith Fenn, will be released after four months in jail for twice raping a 10-year-old girl.

Judge Julian Hall sentenced Fenn the rapist to two years but only four months remain after being given credit for time served.

Judge Julian Hall decided to be lenient because the girl "didn't look 10."

He caused fury earlier this year by freeing another paedophile, telling him to buy his six-year-old victim a new bicycle.

The judge referred to the 10-year-old as a "young woman," and called her "very disturbed, very needy and sexually precocious."

He told Oxford Crown Court: "She liked to dress provocatively."

Judge Julian Hall (pic) shouldn't be allowed to continue.

17 While I agree that this is disgusting I disagree that this came about because of alowing homosexuality or pornography. This kind of thing went on before either of those things became mainstream (although pornography has always existed) and people who did them did not need the rest of society to condone them before they did it. This was done in relitive secretness and back then it was done in relitive secretness in this incident. Moreover, incidents like these happened to a portion of a population that was probably not all that much smaller than todays. When you factor in things like the fact that things like this were not recorded very well even when they were known to have happened and the fact that things like sexual deviance DO appear in our histrory I don't think its safe to say that the problem has radically escalated in the way some say it has. There has been an increase in a lack of willingness to put down this kind of behavior that has lead to some increases in this kind of thing but it was still around in the past.
 
Many, many culture besides just the greeks allowed limited homosexual behavour in their societies for hundreds or thousands of years and never allowed bestiality to take root. Some form of Pornography was often present as well. So I don't think that things like this inevitably flow from them. The sexual want for a same sex partner and an animal somewhat different from each other in cause. Homosexuality provides more or less the same sense of satisfaction with an attractive partner and a need for long or short term companionship that heterosexual relations do. Bestiality seems more like a fetish.

As I understand google its the # of links to a story that increases its score. 

Also google searches the links and indexes the words.  So if you have
sick bastard a lot of times then sick bastard will be rated high on
your "relevance".  Something like that.

On regular google this story is no telling how far down.  Google news
is date driven though so I tried sick bastard there.  No luck but then
click on search blogs and boom #1.  heh.

I'm not defending any abuse of any human being here, but I have seen some intersting points raised in the comments, and I felt a need to toss my opinion into the ring.

Jake likes his definitions because they suit his agenda. Carlos is actually correct in his representation, as usual, but is any of this the real debate? The only thing I get out of thier argument really, is what constitutes a child is actually subject to interpetation. For example ...
 
'Children' tried as 'adults' for murder, and other crimes ... A judge makes a distiction based on the estimated mental and emotional maturity of the 'child' to determine if they are 'adult' enough to have been responsable for their actions.
 
I think this concept has merit. When I was 13 years old, I had to make a very adult decision about whether to use a gun to stop an adult in my family, from beating on another adult in my family. I'd seen an awful lot by that time in my life, and I'd been choked unconscious myself previously. Where would the judge have placed me, if I had chosen to shoot?
 
These little red legal lines actually piss me off. I took a couple of minutes to decide what was best, even as the violence in the next room continued. I made a choice. It was based on my desire for all of us in the household to survive and find away to grow past the behavior. I made the connection that my actions would have lasting effects, maybe far worse than what was going on already. I made an adult decision.
 
What is or isn't a legal adult/minor, is in reality a subjective decision made by a society. In many civilizations that have come before ours, an adult was an adult, when they assumed certain responsabilities, and were accepted as such. Age related judgements as to when that would occur, were of less importance than when the behavior warranted the change in status. Many cultures still have rights of passage that are used to determine when maturity is acheived.

Foley? Do I approve? Not hardly, but I think it's possible he was set up, and the left played the game of double standards. We do not practice the concept of 'innocent until proven guilty' like we should. If someone is our enemy, we are all to happy to jump down their throat on any excuse. Does this serve justice?

If a teen is a half an hour away from being 18, and they get touchy feely with a 30 year old, is it really fair to allow a Parent to pursue sexual assault charges?  How about if the teen lied about their age?The legal line says 'yes' in most places in America. Is that really justice? What if they are a congressional page merely exchanging e-mails? Was anyone even touched?  I'm just saying, this isn't always a clear area.

If your white rich kids who get charged with rape, some people say your finally getting what you deserve, never mind the facts. Never mind the lies. Never mind the fine line between a bad joke, or a racial slur. And never mind the actual damage done by promoting allegations when they remain unproven. It is easy to smear someone over 'allegations' and they don't have to be true. Duke Lacrosse anyone?

I had read elsewhere that was actually the case with at least one of the Foley incedents, but naturally with everything else going on it seemed to get pushed under the rug.  I'm not saying I approve. I didn't approve of Bill and Monica either. Technically I guess the act itself isn't illegal though, in the context your mentioning. Did you get a comment deleted? I thought I saw it ... but it would be strange if that particular comment got deleted when you think about it.

The saga erupted when Daniela Cicarelli, a model and ex-wife of Real Madrid’s Ronaldo, sued YouTube after a video of her apparently having sex with her boyfriend in the sea in Spain was posted on the site.

Judge Enio Santarelli Zulianio blocked internet service providers (ISPs) from allowing people to access the website.

But the latest twist has seen Judge Zulianio reverse his decision but only if YouTube permanently removed the video in question.

Cicarelli and boyfriend Tato Malzoni had filed to force YouTube to take the video down and demanded £60,000 in damages for each day the video remained online.

The case of Schmeca White departs from the customary sentence of a hand slap for female sexual offenders.

(South Bend, Indiana) In May 2005, former aide at Greene Intermediate Center, Schmeca White (pic) was arrested on felony charges of inappropriate sexual activities with special education students between the ages of 11 and 15. Specific charges included two counts each of child molestation and sexual misconduct with a minor, along with sexual battery, criminal deviate conduct, and battery.

Earlier this month, White was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor, vicarious sexual gratification and battery, forcing students into simulated sex and choking a student. Jurors had to listen to descriptions of White's disgusting classroom behavior which included one reported incident that she stripped naked.

Yesterday, Schmeca White, now 28, was sentenced. She received nine and one-half years in prison to be followed by four years probation. She was also ordered to register as a sex offender. According to Judge Roland W. Chamblee Jr., White's lack of a criminal record prevented him from handing out the maximum sentence.

White spoke at her sentencing and maintained that she is innocent.

"I still say that I'm innocent, regardless of what victims said I did," White said. " ... I did nothing to those children and I still say that."

Interestingly, there's already been discussion of White being released early for good behavior but this is inconsistent with current experience. Behind bars since her arrest last year, White has been a problem prisoner.

There are signs that the same type of classroom behavior that first put Schmeca White behind bars nearly 547-days ago, has continued, after her arrest, leading to at least three jail transfers.

"From her flat file paperwork, she's been aggressive with the, sexually, excuse me, sexually aggressive with the female inmates, and was moved to the medical unit, and she became sexually aggressive with male and female inmates at that point," said anonymously.

(Buffalo, New York) In April 2006, 35-year-old Malcolm Watson, an English teacher at the prestigious all-girl Buffalo Seminary, was arrested and charged with sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He was caught in a mall parking lot steaming up his car windows with a 15-year-old female student.

In August, Watson was convicted of child sex abuse and sentenced to live in Canada for three years. To my knowledge, the Canadians were never consulted.

Nevertheless, Watson begins his sentence today, eh?

In all candor, the idea of sending convicted American perverts to another country is quite appealing but I wouldn't select Canada. Someplace further away would be my choice ... maybe a nation in southeast Asia or Africa. Although not greatly distant, a reverse-Mariel boatlift to Cuba might also be doable.

John Mark Karr (pic) has been talking about the murder of JonBenet Ramsey.

"I was with JonBenet when she died," John Mark Karr told reporters in Bangkok, visibly nervous and stuttering as he spoke. "Her death was an accident."

Police said Karr, 41, admitted to the killing after he was arrested Wednesday at his downtown Bangkok apartment by Thai and American authorities.

Karr will be transported to Colorado in the next week where he will face charges of murder, kidnapping and child sexual assault, said Ann Hurst, a U.S. official with the Department of Homeland Security.

An arrest has been made in connection with JonBenet Ramsey murder case, Ramsey family attorney Hal Haddon told ABC News.

The arrest comes nearly 10 years after the 6-year-old girl was found strangled and beaten to death in the basement of her home on the day after Christmas, in a case that shocked the country and that has remained unsolved.

The Associated Press, citing U.S. law enforcement officials, reported that a man was arrested in Thailand in connection with the slaying. Federal officials familiar with the case told the AP on condition of anonymity that the man was being held in Bangkok on unrelated sex charges.

In related news, a known pedophile on the Australian National Child Offender Register was reportedly arrested last Friday at a checkpoint along the border between Thailand and Cambodia. Aussie authorities wanted teacher Paul Thompson, 57, on child sex charges.

Thompson was facing prison in Australia on child sex offences but fled to south-east Asia, where authorities are working to have him deported.

Acting Detective Superintendent Kellie Properjohn says Western Australian police have been liaising with federal authorities to locate Thompson.

The admitted pedophile offered a surprising defense Wednesday to 74 charges of rape, drugs and pandering obscenity to minors.

He told the judge, "I'm a pedophile. I've been a pedophile for 20 years. The only reason I'm charged with rape is that no one believes a child can consent to sex. The role of my ministry is to get these cases out of the courtrooms."

Distasio, a self-professed pagan friar, is representing himself on 74 charges. He said he's the leader of a church called Arcadian Fields Ministries, and that some of his congregants are among the victims in his case.

Mr. Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23 was accidentally shot during the raid of this Islamists home. They were searching for explosives but it turned out Mr. Kahar was producing another type of terror.

BBC: The shooting of a man arrested during an anti-terror raid in east London was an "accident", the Independent Police Complaints Commission has said.

The firearms officer involved committed "no criminal or disciplinary offence" when Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23, was shot at his home in Forest Gate, on 2 June.

The gun went off after contact between the pair on a "narrow staircase". Meanwhile, Mr Kahar has been arrested by police on suspicion of making pornographic pictures of children.

He remains in custody at a London police station.

After the June raid on the Forest Gate house, police hunting for a suspected chemical device later released Mr Kahar, who was shot in the shoulder, and his brother Abul Koyair without charge.

On Thursday, police said computer and electrical equipment had been seized during a search of a house in London - understood to be the same one raided in Forest Gate on 2 June - and passed to the Child Abuse Investigation Command for further examination.

They said the decision to question Mr Kahar had been made before the force was aware that the IPCC report would be published on the same day.

Police had a duty to investigate intelligence and allegations relating to child protection issues, a spokeswoman said.

Scotland Yard has released a statement saying it regrets that an "accidental discharge" caused injury.

(McMinnville, Tennessee) The saga of 28-year-old Pamela Rogers (photos), a woman who appears to be building an international reputation for irresponsibility, continues with new indictments being served on the former teacher at the Warren County Jail, her current residence.

Here's a quick recap of the Rogers story.

In August 2005, for her conviction on child sex assault charges, Rogers was sentenced to nine months incarceration and subsequent supervised probation of seven years, three months. Her sentence was quite lenient since she originally faced 15 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and 13 counts of statutory rape of a 13-year-old boy.

In February 2006, Pamela Rogers was released from jail on probation with specific orders not to communicate with her victim in any manner. Given the circumstances, a prudent person would have plotted out a squeaky-clean life of respectability, at least for the duration of the probation.

Unfortunately, Pamela Rogers isn't a prudent decision-maker. On April 11, less than two months after being released from jail, Rogers was arrested for violating the terms of her probation by repeatedly contacting her victim. She was set free on $10,000 bond until a July hearing.

Astonishingly, on April 24 Rogers was rearrested for the same probation violation, contacting the victim. She was discovered to have sent sexually explicit videos to the boy via a cameraphone. As a consequence, a judge ordered Rogers to stay in jail until her July hearing.

Inquiring minds await today's decision. I'll post an update after the court appearance.

A judge sent a former teacher to prison for seven years Friday for violating her probation by sending sexually explicit photos to a young teenage boy.

The ruling was expected. Nobody ever deserved revocation of her probation more than Rogers.

According to District Attorney Potter, the most recent charges regarding sending sexually explicit images via cameraphone will be adjudicated separate from the probation violation. No date was disclosed for court proceedings.

(Saginaw, Michigan) On Thursday, band teacher Laura L. Findlay, 32, of Ricker Middle School pleaded guilty in Saginaw County Circuit Court to 22 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person younger than 16 as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors. Findlay admitted to sexual contact with six male students. She faces seven years in prison per the agreement, however, defense lawyer James Piazza stated that Findlay may withdraw her plea if her sentence exceeds seven years. Frankly, it's news to me that a defendant can change a plea after sentencing.

"She made her choice," he [defense attorney Piazza] said. "If a jury found her guilty, she would be facing life. She decided not to roll the dice with the jury."

Six eighth-graders -- 13 and 14 -- testified during preliminary hearings that Findlay engaged in oral sex with them and gave them lap dances. At least two of them said they penetrated Findlay.

The teens, who were band members and basketball players, said the incidents occurred in the band room or in Findlay's sport utility vehicle behind Fort Saginaw Mall, at Holland and Outer Drive.

Board of Education members did not fire Findlay but laid her off as part of sweeping budget cuts.

(Garden City, New York) A 39-year-old putative "soccer mom" and married mother of two, Lisa M. Frodella (pic), culled a 16-year-old boy from her daughters' friends and groomed him for sex. At 16, the boy was old enough to deliver pizzas and, sure enough, soon he was regularly supplying the pepperoni deluxe to Ms. Frodella.

And, check this. Frodella would even call the boy's high school "pretending to be his mother, and say he was sick" so the pair could have sex during school hours.

In return, a gratified Ms. Frodella rewarded the boy with a souped-up black 2002 Mercedes-Benz S430, valued at $35,000. Understandably, the boy's mother was suspicious and alerted the police.

Yesterday, Lisa M. Frodella was arrested on two counts of rape and two counts of criminal sexual acts, each count carrying a maximum penalty of four years in prison. Bail was set by the Nassau County First District Court at $40,000 cash or $120,000 bond. Last I checked, she was still in the pokey.

By the way, the kid didn't get to keep the Mercedes.

(New York City) The convoluted story of Lina Sinha (pic), Manhattan Montessori school teacher and director, was exposed last October when she was charged with sodomy and rape of a student.

Sinha was accused of having a long-term sexual relationship with a student, starting when the boy was 13 years old and lasting until he was 17. She was arraigned and freed on her own recognizance, however, she was instructed to surrender her passport to prevent flight to India where she has relatives.

Since that last court appearance, more trouble has visited Sinha. Yesterday, additional charges were filed.

The female director of an East Side Montessori school was a little-boy-crazy "predator," Manhattan prosecutors charged yesterday, as they accused her of bedding two of the school's students - often on school property, and starting when they were only 12 and 13 years old.

The disgraced administrator, Lina Sinha, 40, who has worked for almost 20 years at the East 55th Street school founded and still owned by her parents, was also charged with trying to cover her tracks through lies and bribes of sneakers, cellphones and cash.

In all, Sinha faces 81 charges of rape, sodomy, bribing a witness and tampering with a witness and evidence.

"It is the people's position that this defendant is a predator," lead prosecutor Florence Chapin told a judge in Manhattan Supreme Court, after Sinha pleaded not guilty.

The most serious charges in the shocking indictment are for first-degree rape - for allegedly having sexual intercourse with the 12-year-old for a year, beginning in February 2001.

Two boys and 81 criminal counts related to illegal sexual behavior at a school -- for years! -- and nobody noticed? Come on! I don't believe it. Many people associated with the school had to be looking the other way, intentionally.

In the meantime, Sinha allegedly has been impeding investigators while trying to frame the first victim, who is now an adult and an NYPD officer, with fabricated assertions that he was a rapist.

Sinha's bail was set at $50,000 by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Carol Berkman and it was promptly posted. The next court appearance is scheduled for August 16. If convicted of the rape and sodomy charges, Sinha faces a possible 25 years in prison.

(McMinnville, Tennessee) Gorgeous Pamela Rogers (pics), the 28-year-old teacher who was convicted of a child sex offense last year and sentenced to nine months in prison, was released and then arrested earlier this month for violating the terms of her probation.

Contrary to the court's order, Rogers had contacted the victim's family via the Internet. At a subsequent hearing two weeks ago, Rogers was allowed to remain free on $10,000 bond until a July 12 hearing.

Well, hush my puppies! It seems Gorgeous Pamela Rogers was arrested again on Monday for contacting and sending sexually explicit videos to the now 14-year-old victim.

"These were videos of the defendant involved in sexual activity and she was nude in the pictures," arrest warrant records show. "The defendant requested from the victim he send pictures and videos, and phone records indicate she received the same on her phone."

(McMinnville, Tennessee) In February, Pamela Rogers (Turner) was released on probation from jail after serving nine months of an eight-year sentence for a conviction of sex with a 13-year-old student. Yesterday, Pamela Rogers (pic) was arrested for violating the terms of her probation.

Authorities say Pamela Rogers Turner may have committed as many as seven violations of terms of her probation. She had served six months in jail and was released February 26th. But terms of her conviction included an eight-year sentence and the prosecutor says his office might ask that Turner be sent to prison for the balance of it.

Terms include registering as a sex offender, performing community service, having no contact with the boy's family and not using the Internet.

4 I am torn in response. I know at fourteen I would have hit it, like a force of nature, however if it was my fourteen year old daughter and her twenty-five year old boyfriend or a teacher I would be outraged.
She maybe hot, but how many 20-25 year old male offenders are in jail for the same thing?
The law should be blind to her hotness, and treat her the same.

5 Not ever having been a fourteen year old boy I too am torn. But I can't help but think that just because a fourteen year old boy's hormones are raging, it doesn't mean he's emotionally ready for such a relationship. I could more fully understand it if she had also been fourteen. But this is an adult woman in the capacity of an educator and should set an example of moral behavior as much as any male should. This boy is not likely to suffer any adverse emotional problems and will probably brag about it when he's older, but that's not the point. What might it do to his perception of women later in life?

I have 2 children, one of each sex.
Male or female, I would expect the law to sentence anyone that molests a child to the maximum sentence allowed by law.(yes, I know - she's hot, she is a 14 year old's wet dream!)
What on earth am I saying?
After reading some of the guys'comments here, it appears that maybe boys don't grow out of it after all!
I must say, I believe this is the first time that "she's too pretty to be in prison" thing has worked.
I quite frankly, as a woman and a mother, am appalled! (BTW, I happen to be 5'3", 122 lbs and petite - doesn't mean I'm going to chase my son's 14 year old friends!) I am quite happy being the "hot, cool mom" (Embarrasses my son to no end when his buddies tell him that!)
Debra should be in prison and have her makeup taken away!

16 I realize you ladies are right, and I know we are not living in the 50's, and 60's. However, there is still a double standard, and I am a pig when my wife is not around.

If it was my son, I would be angry, and realize the event would be premature. If it was my daughter, ( with a male teacher ), the only chance for the teacher to stay out of the hospital would be for the police to get to him first.

17 I don't know about getting the high five's from his peers. Most likely they would be saying "Dude why did you tell your mom ?" And look at the age that both boys and girls are having sex now. Mom would you rather have your son banging one of his classmates or the teacher ? At least you know with the teacher there won't be an angry parent of the girl having the boy arrested.

19 Here's one for you...in my own father's high school in his northern Minnesota town of 2,000 or so bored souls, it was common knowledge that a female high school teacher had had a sexual relationship with one of her students. She quietly left the area not terribly long after. Wonder why this didn't make the TV news? Well, because no one had TVs...it was spring, 1950 ya see.

You all act like this is some kind of new phenomena signaling the end of civilization and morals. Well, kids were banging each other, teachers leaped on their students, and guys were screwing the neighbors' wife long before this crap hit the social conciousness and Entertainment Tonight. So relax, the kids are alright.

(Ocala, Florida) Former middle school teacher Debra Lafave (pic) and her lawyer, John Fitzgibbons, listened attentively in Marion County Court yesterday as unsympathetic Judge Hale Stancil expressed his concerns regarding a plea deal negotiated between the defense and the prosecution. The plea agreement specified no jail time for a sex crime committed against a 14-year-old boy.

In addition to having questions about the criminal justice and education systems, Judge Stancil stated that he is seriously considering throwing out the plea agreement and sentencing Lafave in accordance with established guidelines, meaning 16.9 years in prison. Being undecided, Stancil postponed Lafave's sentencing for a week to ten days to allow himself more time to think about the case.

As a reminder, Lafave received no jail in adjacent Hillsborough County when she was sentenced for related crimes.

So, the soap opera continues as everyone waits to learn what Judge Stancil will decide.
