The advancement of the Union of Islamic Courts in Somalia is continuing almost unchecked. They now control up to the border with Ethiopia and are increasing their control. Arresting journalists and closing radio stations that report any dissenting views.

Somalinet: Forces loyal to Islamic Courts have captured villages of Kalaber and Jawil in Hiran region north of Somalia and bordering with Ethiopia on Saturday - reports say. It is part of Islamists’ expansion policy to entire Somalia.

Sheik Nor Ibrahim, one of the senior Islamists in Baledweyn, confirmed today that they had seized control of Kaleber and Jawil, adding that they attacked the villages with 13 battlewagons and lost one soldier. The environs are about 400km (248 miles) north of Somalia capital Mogadishu.

All Africa: The UIC militias arrested the three HornAfrik journalists - Sahro Abdi Ahmed, Layla Sheik Ismail and Adam Mohammed Salad - at around 11 a.m. (local time) on 29 September 2006, one of their colleagues told Reporters Without Borders. Ismail is also the correspondent of the Somali Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), a privately-owned radio and TV station based in Puntland, while Salad is also the correspondent of the Puntland-based Radio Daljir.

The UIC militias, who arrived in Kismayo on 24 September, were also looking for reporter Hassan Mohammed Nur and Nasteh Dahir Farah, the manager of HornAfrik's branch in Kismayo. Both went into hiding at once. Ahmed, Ismail and Salad were released a few hours later after being ordered not to refer to the Islamic courts any more….

…The UIC militiamen said they had come to the station because it had broadcast statements by inhabitants of Kismayo criticising the militias and had referred to the disturbances in the city, the third largest in Somalia, since their arrival. Many of Kismayo's inhabitants have criticised the militias' high-profile presence, the restrictions they have imposed, their replacement of the Somali flag and the fact that they fired on protesters, killing a 13-year-old child.

We are however optimistic about what he said, because in the days of the first Muslims, when people spoke ill of the prophet (may God's peace and prayers be upon him), it was a sign that the Muslims would defeat them and conquer their lands.

This totally surprising story just in Via Haaretz:

OSLO - Norwegian authorities on Friday presented details of an alleged plot to decapitate the Israeli ambassador to Oslo and blow up the Israeli and American embassies in the city.

The four suspects, three of them of Muslim background, are also charged with firing at the city's synagogue last week, causing damage but no injuries.

The evidence against the suspects was revealed in the course of extending the suspects' remand, and is based on recordings of their conversations obtained by bugging devices placed in the lead suspect's car.

Jewish community representatives say they are shocked by the alleged plot....

..."They discussed in detail how to harm the Israeli and American ambassadors," prosecutor Uni Price said Thursday.

At the head of the group of suspects is allegedly a 29-year-old Pakistani-Norwegian with an extensive record of violence.

According to Price, the suspect consistently expressed "radical Islamic views."

Two other suspects are also in custody, one of Pakistani and the other of Turkish background, both 28.

Jpost: A Bangladeshi Muslim journalist arrested in the past for advocating ties with Israel now faces charges of sedition, a crime punishable by death in Bangladesh, and will likely be put on trial by the end of the month, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

In a court session on Tuesday in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, a state-appointed judge ruled that the government's case against Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury could proceed to trial and that the hearings would commence within 15 days.

As editor of The Weekly Blitz, an English-language newspaper published in Dhaka, Choudhury aroused the ire of Bangladeshi authorities after he printed articles favorable to Israel and critical of Muslim extremism.

Bangladesh does not recognize Israel's existence and refuses to establish diplomatic relations with the Jewish state.

In November 2003, Choudhury was arrested at Dhaka's international airport just prior to boarding a flight on his way to Israel, where he was scheduled to deliver an address on promoting understanding between Muslims and Jews. His visit to Israel would have been the first by a Bangladeshi journalist....

...In a May 20, 2005 opinion piece published in the Post, Choudhury wrote: "As a journalist, I counteracted the biased 'news' that promoted hatred of Israel and Jews, condemned terrorism, promoted the free exchange of ideas and urged Bangladesh to recognize Israel."

Describing the moments immediately before his 2003 arrest, he wrote: "Though physically still in Dhaka, my heart ached to kiss Israel's holy soil."

So it appears that being moderate is also a capital crime, at least in Bangladesh. If you are published in a Jewish newspaper or don’t want to kill the jooooos the Islamists will take your livelihood, harass your family and last but not least they kill you. No wonder.

Michael Ireland : MOGADISHU, SOMALIA (ANS) -- Somali Christian sources report that Ali Mustaf Maka'il, a 22-year-old college student and cloth merchant, who converted from Islam to Christianity eleven months ago, was shot and killed in the Manabolyo quarter of Mogadishu on September 7.

According to a report from The Barnabas Fund, quoting a Christian source inside Somalia, the gunman was loyal to the Union of Islamic Courts (ICU), the Islamist organization that took power in Mogadishu in early June 2006 and now controls much of southern Somalia.

The report states: "The gunman shot Ali in the back after he refused to join a crowd chanting Qur'an verses in honor of the lunar eclipse. (Solar and lunar eclipses are significant in Islam and are accompanied by special congregational prayers.) The ICU confiscated his body for 24 hours before delivering it to the grieving family."

The Barnabas Fund says: "It seems that under the new Islamist rulers, who include hard-line jihadi elements, the tragic history of persecution and martyrdom for Somalia's tiny Christian community is set to continue and most likely to worsen."

The group reports that in July 2006 there were unconfirmed reports that three Christians had been shot and killed by Islamists as they returned home from a prayer meeting.

It adds: "In October 2005 an evangelist and house church leader, Osman Sheik Ahmed, was shot dead by Islamist radicals. Children of Christian Somali refugees in Kenya have been kidnapped by Muslim relatives and taken to Islamic institutions in Somalia for 'rehabilitation.' "

The Barnabas Fund explains that the leader of the ICU, Hassan Dahir Aweys, promised to implement shari'a in all areas he controls.

"According to shari'a, apostates (those who leave Islam for another religion), must be killed. ICU leaders have even threatened to kill as apostates Muslims who are lax in their prayers, claiming this is commanded by shari'a. Several Muslims have been publicly flogged for drug related offences since the ICU took control."

Two Islamic Militant Groups The Mujahdeen Shura Council and , Ansar al-Sunnah have declared open war on Christians. First they insult Christians by describing them as, “cross worshippers.” This is an accusation of idolatry.

Times Online UK:Today an internet statement by the Mujahideen Shura Council, an umbrella group led by Iraq’s branch of al Qaeda, threatened reprisals against "worshippers of the cross" for the Pope's remarks.

"We shall break the cross and spill the wine. ... (you will have no choice but) Islam or death," said the statement, citing a hadith (saying of the Prophet Mohammed) promising Muslims that they would "conquer Rome... as they conquered Constantinople".

"We tell the worshipper of the cross (the Pope) that you and the West will be defeated, as is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya. God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the Mujahideen."

As usual with such statements, the authenticity could not be verified. It was posted on an internet site often used by al-Qaeda and other militant groups. It continued: "The Pope in the Vatican turns in the orbit of Bush. His remarks form part of the mobilisation for a crusade announced by Bush, to raise the morale of the crusader armies."

Two other armed groups in Iraq, Jaish al-Mujahedeen (the Mujahedeen’s Army) and Asaeb al-Iraq al-Jihadiya (League of Jihadists in Iraq), have already threatened the Vatican with reprisals in statements posted on Islamist internet websites.

Another militant group in Iraq, Ansar al-Sunnah, today also vowed to fight Christians in retaliation.

"You will only see our swords until you go back to God’s true faith Islam," it said in a separate statement, which called the Pope "Satan’s hellhound in the Vatican", saying he was "proud today of his hatred towards Muslims".

"The day is coming when the armies of Islam will destroy the ramparts of Rome," it added in the statement addressed to "Crusaders".

Islamic rulers in the past have forced Jews to wear small cows around their neck to remind them of the Golden Calf episode from the Old Testament. However it appears they did not learn the lesson very well as they are still bowing to a giant cube in the center of Mecca. It’s not that shape of the idol that matters.

I'm also offended by the claim I read the other day that if Jesus returned tomorrow he would be a Muslim. I can think of nothing more Anti-Christ than Muhammad's teachings. I find it an insult to Jesus.

Of course the followers of the religion of peace do have one solution to my faith. Kill me. more...

(Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India) The supreme Muslim body for Sunnis, Darul Uloom of Deoband, recently issued Fatwa 837 declaring life insurance illegal under Sharia Law.

"Fatwa had rightly stated that insurance of life is against Shariyat (Islamic laws). No true Muslim should go for it, because Islam prohibits gambling and earning through interest; and insurance is nothing less than gambling," said Khalid Rashid, Vice-President, All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Sunni religious leader.

However, there isn't common agreement among all Muslim leaders. According to Kalbe Javwad, a prominent Shia leader:

"In Shias, there is no such ban. This controversy has been raised for the first time; it has no big meaning for Shias. In Iran, there is no such ban on getting life insured."

Look, their guiding belief system sanctions and, some would say, encourages killing. There are "honor killings" and a variety of homicidal and suicidal acts of martyrdom, all ostensibly conducted with the approval of higher spiritual authority. An ambitious entrepreneur wouldn't need a John D. Rockefeller intellect to figure out how to rake in some lucrative life insurance payouts.

Muslims are more than adept at regularly killing each other in large numbers already. They don't need a profit motive.

According to BBC Asian Radio Network polling, 10 percent of Asian Brits condone murder of people "who disrespected their family's honor." Of course, only females can be subjected to honor killings since, for some reason, males don't seem to be capable of besmirching a family's honor.

Ten percent of the Asian population in Britain may sound like a small minority but not when it's correlated to actual census data. About four percent of 60 million Brits are classified as minority Asians. This equates to approximately one-quarter million people believing that honor killings are acceptable.

Although the polling was arguably unscientific, the results are meaningful since they show that a significant number of people are vocal supporters of the practice. Personally, I suspect that many, many more people effectively support the practice by not voicing opposition to it.

We linked Ms. Underestimated’s post on the Centanni and Olaf interviews here. Here is one interesting tidbit from the interview. I recall that one description of their location was a “garage” or “house” the other day. A reader via email points out that in this Video at about 12:35 the call to prayer was very loud and they could hear praying right above them.

Interviewer: “Did they say anything to you at that point about who they were or what they wanted?

Wiig: “ …..The guy next to me said, “You Are going to hell.”

Centanni : “And I didn’t hear that, he [Wiig] told me this later.”

Interviewer: “They took you then to another house another place right?

Centanni: ”The beach camp was the transfer point, they took us to the first house. Olaf [Wiig] calls it a Mosque. There was a loud call to prayer that may have been coming from the same building and he heard prayers upstairs. But we wound up in the same room together in that first house the first night.

It seems the Centanni is dismissive of Olaf’s opinion and insists on calling it a house. If you ask me Olaf should be the reporter and Centanni should be behind the camera.

If they were using a Mosque or part of a Mosque compound it would be far from the first time that terrorists have done this. While you will hear the screaming about the misunderstanding of Islam that it condemns terrorism. And what was this incident really other than terrorism? It appears that the mosque's imam and worshipers are among those many misunderstanderers of Islam that we keep hearing about.

What? You say that I'm wrong, that Islam disapproves? Then show me. Arrest and punish those responsible publicly. I suppose about a 120 year prison sentence is fair enough. I'm waiting.

"There are people claiming that Freddie Mercury is a Zanzibari but he grew up outside Zanzibar and then changed his name," the islands' association for Islamic Mobilisation and Propagation (UAMSHO) said in the letter.

"Associating Mercury with Zanzibar degrades our island as a place of Islam," UAMSHO chief Abdallah Said Ali wrote, adding that the singer was known to have been gay, died of AIDS and had lived a wild life many Muslims would condemn.

"Allowing such a function for a person known outside Zanzibar as a homosexual tarnishes the name of Zanzibar," he said in the letter, a copy of which was obtained by AFP. "Let us protect our good culture."

(Karachi, Pakistan) The Taliban and al-Qaeda are backers of illegal FM radio stations which can reach out to a radius of 10 miles in the mountainous regions of Pakistan. Frequently, they are mobile units.

Illegal radio stations in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province were preaching religious militancy and sectarian hatred, a senior official said on Monday.

Scores of illegal FM stations are broadcasting in NWFP and in the restive, semi-autonomous tribal areas bordering Afghanistan, and some have been accused of fanning violence.

"We are taking this issue very seriously. Because some stations are creating problems with their hate material which promotes violence," said Gul Bacha Wazir, the provincial interior secretary.

This year at least 26 people have been killed in clashes between factions led by Muslim clerics in a tribal area after one of the clerics used a radio station to incite his followers to attack families loyal to a rival.

It's a guess but I'd speculate that a large portion of the world's Muslim population has never seen nor met a Jewish person. Nonetheless, they are taught to hate them daily.

(Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) A 20-year-old Pakistani woman, Zarni, claimed she endured three years of being raped by her father before the authorities were notified. Subsequent to her father's arrest, Zarni was pressured by her mother to recant. She did and now Zarni is being sent back to Pakistan.

According to a neighbor,

"When she reaches Pakistan it will be her end, literally," said Umm Abdul Aziz. "She comes from a Balochi tribal family and they are known to be very unmerciful in rape situations. The only way they solve it is by killing the woman." It is generally referred to as honor killing.

Everything's bass ackwards. Even if Zarni filed a false report, which I frankly don't think is the case, she doesn't deserve to die.

He came to Israel to help with a camp for Palestinian children and got a knife in the back instead. From United Press International:

JERUSALEM, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- An Italian law student, visiting Israel to help with a camp for Palestinian children, was stabbed to death in Jerusalem in what police call a terror attack.

Angelo Frammartino, 24, was out with friends Thursday night when he was attacked near the Damascus Gate, Corriere della Sera reported.

Police investigators said they do not believe the attack was a robbery gone wrong but a deliberate attack by a Palestinian. A yeshiva student was wounded in a similar attack near by three weeks ago.

In a letter sent a few months ago to a local newspaper, Angelo expressed his world view: "We must recognize that in a situation with no violence is a luxury in many parts of the world, but we are not seeking to prevent legitimate self defense operations. I never dreamt of condemning the resistance, the blood of the Vietnamese, the blood of nations under colonial occupation, or the blood of Palestinian youths from the first intifada," he said.

A little cold perhaps, but not nearly so cold as a knife in the back.

I generally write for two kinds of people; those who are left-brain dominant get multiple paragraphs that stimulate the intellect; those who are right-brain dominant get one or two lines that go straight to the gut. Sometimes I split the difference and say to hell with everybody.

Mr. Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23 was accidentally shot during the raid of this Islamists home. They were searching for explosives but it turned out Mr. Kahar was producing another type of terror.

BBC: The shooting of a man arrested during an anti-terror raid in east London was an "accident", the Independent Police Complaints Commission has said.

The firearms officer involved committed "no criminal or disciplinary offence" when Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23, was shot at his home in Forest Gate, on 2 June.

The gun went off after contact between the pair on a "narrow staircase". Meanwhile, Mr Kahar has been arrested by police on suspicion of making pornographic pictures of children.

He remains in custody at a London police station.

After the June raid on the Forest Gate house, police hunting for a suspected chemical device later released Mr Kahar, who was shot in the shoulder, and his brother Abul Koyair without charge.

On Thursday, police said computer and electrical equipment had been seized during a search of a house in London - understood to be the same one raided in Forest Gate on 2 June - and passed to the Child Abuse Investigation Command for further examination.

They said the decision to question Mr Kahar had been made before the force was aware that the IPCC report would be published on the same day.

Police had a duty to investigate intelligence and allegations relating to child protection issues, a spokeswoman said.

Scotland Yard has released a statement saying it regrets that an "accidental discharge" caused injury.

(Amman, Jordan) There is no way to apply civilized reasoning for honor killings. The practice should disappear from the planet, like cannibalism and dinosaurs.

A 26-year-old Jordan Valley woman was hacked to death by her mother and sister after delivering a baby out of wedlock, an official told The Jordan Times Saturday.

The criminal prosecutor on Saturday charged the 69-year-old mother and her daughter with premeditated murder, the official said.

The victim reportedly received multiple axe wounds to different parts of her body while she slept, the official added.

"The victim, who has been divorced for seven years, became pregnant and delivered a baby boy on the day of the murder," the source said, adding that her enraged mother decided to "kill her to cleanse the family honour."

"The mother and daughter waited until the victim went to sleep, took an axe and hacked her repeatedly until they made sure she was dead," the source said.

The two then headed to the nearest police station in the Jordan Valley claiming to have killed her "to protect their honour," the source added.

Furthermore, it's my belief that justice is seldom achieved in prosecuting the perpetrators of honor killings. Even in those places that are attempting to reform, a drop in honor killings has been followed by a corresponding rise in 'honor suicides.'

The Dhimmifacation of Britain continues. Now a law against forcing a young lady to marry against her will has been shelved due to concerns it might offend Muslims. Tell me is there anything that does not offend Muslims

Commander Steve Allen of the Metropolitan Police said that a decision by ministers last month to drop proposed legislation had been greeted by some ethnic minorities (let me help you Muslims) as a signal that forced marriage was acceptable….

…The head of a South Asian women’s charity said yesterday that girls were already suffering the consequences of the decision.

Between 2003 and 2005, 518 forced marriages were recorded in London, and in 2005 more than 140 in Bradford. Campaigners say those are merely the tip of the iceberg.

Most cases in Britain involve Muslim families, although the practice is not restricted to any particular religious or ethnic group. Most victims are aged between 16 and 20 and many suffer physical assault, death threats and false imprisonment, usually at the hands of close family members…

World Net Daily:A Jewish activist was physically assaulted and his life was threatened during a planned "peaceful" rally held by the Muslim American Society in Boston, he told WorldNetDaily today.

"I have never been physically attacked before. I've had slurs thrown at me, got into heated debates, but what was amazing was that I was actually physically attacked," Seva Brodsky said. "Since they were the majority, and felt invincible, they threatened to kill me!"

Brodsky, who recently returned from nearly six months in Israel, captured some of the confrontation on video, available at the weblog Solomonia.com.

The event Friday at Boston's City Hall Plaza was the Muslim American Society's "Justice for Palestine and Lebanon Protest." Participants brought signs, including one calling for "victory" for the terrorist group Hezbollah and the "Palestinian Resistance."

The struggle toward 21st Century human rights principles among the followers of the religion of peace is demonstrated by this report from the Turkish Daily News.

A study by the Diyarbakir Bar Association Women's Rights Consultation Center showed that courts had accepted rape, rumors about cheating or simply walking around with men as mitigating factors in 46 of 59 "honor killing" cases in Diyarbakir courts between 1999 and 2005.

"Yes, your Honor. The fact that she was raped by her uncle was reason enough for her to die, however, I also read that she had winked at a man during a bus trip. Then I saw her walking in the company of men. For these immoral acts, the honor of the family was deeply besmirched and she had to be killed."
