Quebec Bans Veils at Polls

(Montreal, Quebec) Every time I go to the polls, usually more than one of the election workers makes sure that my face looks like the photo on my driver's license. It's inconceivable that I would be allowed to vote with a mask on my face.

Nevertheless, that's what the Muslims in Quebec wanted to do.

Muslim women will have to remove their face coverings if they want to vote in upcoming elections in Quebec, a government official said Friday, reversing his earlier decision to allow the veils.

Marcel Blanchet, the French-speaking province's election chief, had been criticized by Quebec's three main political leaders for allowing voters to wear the niqab, which covers the entire face except for the eyes, if they signed a sworn statement and showed identification when they vote.

But Blanchet reversed his earlier decision Friday, saying it was necessary to avoid disruptions when residents go to the polls.

Expect the Muslim community to claim religious intolerance, discrimination and violation of human rights.

At which point one must immediately respond by pointing out the
countless violations of human rights and religious persecutions
perpetrated by Mo-slimes under Islamic governments. Indeed Muslims
consider religious discrimnation to be their right.

2 It's called "Ahl al Dhimmi", and we shouldn't become that. It's time to assert our very reasonable values regarding personal accountability. Show your face, like all the honest people.

5 Guys,

I live in Québec City, Qc.  I can assure you the reason why the province's election chief change his mind about muslims voting with their veils on is not a consquence of the commentaries made by Jean Charest (PLQ), André Boisclair (PQ) or Mario Dumont (ADQ).

He change is mind because everybody talked about going to vote with their faces masked by a scarf, sunglasses, a tuque, a cap, etc.
I was planning to do this myself; my equipement was ready (it's still cold here in Québec)!  People are getting more and more tired with the muslims community, not only because of what the radicals represent with all terrorist issues, but also because of their ever more akward requests.

You probably didn't heard about this story, but it's a good one.  We have in the province of Québec places we call "cabanne à sucre" (litlle maple syrup factory).  It's an old tradition for families and friends to go there every Spring, eating tradionnal dishes (mostly PORK-BASED) and DRINK - A LOT!  People dance and have fun for the whole day.  In short, kind of place that dosen't fit with islam!  Well, 200+ muslims made a reservation to go at a cabanne à sucre and asked for all the pork to be removed from the menu (they where not the only people in the place).  Once they where there, at some point they stopped the whole party, displaced some more tables and chairs and started praying for ten minutes on the floor!!!  Other people where outraged and asked the owner to put a stop at this insanity!  But, as he explaned on TV, he wasn't sure about the law and he was fearing reprisal if he didn't let the muslims do what they wanted to do...  He later apologized since his buisness was going down.

6 A lot of people cancelled their reservation after this incident, feeling that muslim went, this time, out of bound.

A couple of weeks ago, a referee (?) in a soccer game was in hot water because he asked a muslim girl to leave since she refused to take off her veil while playing the game.  There is a security reglement that says you can't play soccer with someting on your head, but the muslim community were all outraged by this...

Sorry for my bad English, but I had to comment on this since a lot of stories like these happened in Québec lately and there's more and more anger from the average Joe in our province against these people who left their savage country to try do do the same things here...

I read this blog almost everyday and many thanks to the guys and girls who work at this site for exposing stories our media won't talk about (yes, it's the same phenomenon in Québec)...
