Irshad Manji on 60 Minutes

Irshad Manji, a self-described "Muslim refusenik", speaks with 60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon about Islamic reform, her new partnership with former terrorist Hassan Butt and Ijtihad (pronounced “ij-tee-had”), Islam’s tradition of independent thinking. For more 60 Minutes coverage of former terrorist Hassan Butt, see here.

Irshad Manji is a rare voice calling for reform from within Islam. The New York Times has dubbed her “Osama Bin Laden’s worst nightmare”, which she takes as a compliment.

1 All good and well, but the needs an image consultant. It looks as though she plugged herself into a 220 volt circuit and pulled at least 20 amps to get that hair.

2 10 bucks says they will try to make her "rare voice" look as common as possible.

3 Nice to hear a new voice on the hopes of moderating Islam, but she has got to told quit shaking her head in the "no, no, no" manner when she speaks.
Sit still, hold your head still and she will have more gravitas.

4 Someone once told me that she's a lesbian muslim leftist activist living in Canada.
The mind boggles.
