I'm proud to say that the Jawa Report helped stir the pot on "the first blog scandal of the 2008 campaign" several weeks ago by calling out hyperfeminist lunatic (recently turned John Edwards Official Blogmaster) Amanda Marcotte as the man-hating closet case that she is on January 12 (and piling on a few days ago). This was done using her very own catastrophically inept rantings and wild accusations during the unfolding Duke Lacrosse incident. Piece of cake - I may have even missed a post or two in my haste to assemble it.

The John Edwards '08 campaign hasn't even left the barn yet, and it gives me a certain feeling of comfort to say that if their staff couldn't bother to do something as simple as Google "Pandagon" or "Amanda Marcotte" and read her stuff before putting her on the official payroll, then I tend to worry less about their chances to stay alive in the long on-line and off-line YouTubed drive to November '08. Stay tuned for lots of fun!

NOTE TO INTERESTED PARTIES: Scrubbing the atrocious things Marcotte wrote at Pandagon isn't going to work (at least for the posts I linked here at Jawa Report). I have screenshots of all of them. In the interest of boring our readers, I wont' post them...right now. Let's hope the Pandas don't make me whip em all out in all of their revelatory glory.

Thanks to all the Sith authors and Padawan readers that made this month our best ever. I remember after nearly two years of blogging when we finally reached the 1 million visitors mark. This month it looks like we're going to have that many. Way to go Team America!

Mr. Right is running a good parody on global warming this week. Here is a taste for you.

Wow! Now that sure is a lot better than giving a tax credit for all student loan interest paid, like the Republicans did. Funny how the Republicans were able to help students without driving banks out of the business of making the loans. But hey at least they tried, right?

EIGHTH, we will submit and pass legislation that will mandate any questioning by US agents of Al Qaeda members to (a) be done in the presence of an ACLU lawyer, (b) never last more than 30 minutes, (c) be done indoors, in climate controlled conditions, (d) include an offering of proper food and beverage and (e) require every question to use the word ‘please’

They will also try stop the evil hellibacon from getting help on expensive deep water oil exploration. How this is going to help reduce the dependance on foriegn oil, I dunno. They also don't want any new clean(er) coal plants either. They like the old dirty ones so they can point fingers.

They say are going to put that dirty oil money in a trust fund. I suppose that the increased payroll taxes will also go into that trust fund to give them something to rob for their other programs. Or else they'll say say they've slashed the deficit, forgetting all about their criticism of including these trust funds when figuring the deficit.

I got to hand it to them they sure are slick. All these new do nothing bills, do nothing war plan. All in 100 hours! Which is about ten times longer than they spent actually thinking about what to do.

2 I really don't know is Global warming is real or not. I do know that down here on the Gulf its cold as hell the last 3 days. I also know that winter of 1931 was warmer than last year. How many cars on the road then. For now I will treat global warming as I treated Y2K.

A disturbance in the force has brought me home, once again. Don't believe me? I find your lack of faith in the force disturbing.

I'm especially grateful for my many co-bloggers who made December the best month ever for The Jawa Report! January was looking like it might top our December record-breaker, but now that I'm back I'm sure traffic will plunge to its normal lows.

California was fun, but for some unexplicable reason it's good to be back. In my own home. In my own bed.

Best part? Catalina Island. Spent five days there with my family. A blast, as always. If you live in LA, you really need to spend a few days in Avalon. Now is the best time of year--the offseason. And it was 75 degrees or higher 4 of the 5 days we were there.

Oh, and it's lobster season. I just found out that you can legally net lobster--after all these years of getting them the old fashioned way. In the water. With my hands. At night. In the dead of winter!

My return is especially glorious this year given USC's pounding of Michigan! I know a lot of you want to blame George Lucas, but I just can't bring myself to laying this at his feet. As we all know, Lucas only works for those pansy Jedis. USC is clearly a Sith team.

The only thing better? The Boise State victory over Oklahoma! Incredible. Truly the best game I've ever watched live. Ever. UPDATE: Allah has vid, but he didn't see the game. L-O-S-E-R.

As a special bonus, Flea sends this vid of Jawa vs. Nazis. I know a lot of you are going to want to give credit to the Jawas for helping Indie out of a sticky situation, but your take on this vid is all wrong. The Jawas were only in it for the Ark of the Covenant. They had a mutual interest with Indiana Jones. And like I've always said, you can work with Jawas--mutual interests--it's those pesky sandpeople (Tuskens) you have to watch out for.

The salmon have truly returned to Capistrano!

Timothy Zahn! He had more love for the Star Wars Universe, than he did for money it could make. It shows. I also know Andy Mangels, though I doubt he would remember. Some of his friends are my friends too. Anyway, I think he is pretty good also, but Zahn definitly gets the crown!

8 "In-N-Out Burger" has good burgers, but the fries taste like cardboard.  I moved from LA 14 years ago.  When I get back there, I have to have 2 things:  A pastrami sandwich from "The Hat" (Alhambra, San Gabriel) and a Tommy's Burger with Chili Fries.  Yowsa!

Their fries are julienned fresh from whole potatoes. Tell them to cook yours longer than usual and they'll be good and greasy. (They don't taste like cardboard that way.) You must be used to the freeze-dried, reconstituted grease sticks that other chains serve.


That's the secret to their burgers too: lots of grease. Even the buns are greasy, which is why they're so good.

11 I recently did a burger comparison test with my teenage son and we both agreed that in-and-out's quality has suffered a little with their expansion (at least the one near UCLA) , and Fat Burger's burger is better!

LA has it's good points, but so does Barstow. Irvine aint LA though. You wouldn't claim Inglewood as part of LA, and it's a lot closer. A lot more like LA, too. Irvine is an affluent town, and doesn't really have any dumpy areas. I don't even think it's in LA county, is it? (I've been gone a long time.)

16 Jeff:  I was wrong about Irvine. In and Out is  currently headquartered in Irvine  which until around the mid-80's was mostly ranch land and is  now affluent suburban tracks. And you're right - Irvine isn't really LA - although much of LA has moved down there.

In- and - Out came from the San Gabriel Valley - east of LA, but just a bit - dating back to the late 1940's.

LA was/is a gold rush town - literally and figuratively - and alot of nuts do live here.  From oil to real estate to being discovered by the movies, people come here to get rich quick. I think there are more religions registered here than anywhere else.   Reagan lived here.

I heart LA because it is a city which basically leaves you alone and I like that.
