The Struggle for the Soul of Young Muslims

While Osama bin Laden renewed the call for young Muslims to become "martyrs" (read murderers) in his newest video released today, other Muslims in Europe today began a campaign to be able to leave Islam without being killed as apostates:

A group of young Muslim apostates launches a campaign today, the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America, to make it easier to renounce Islam.

The provocative move reflects a growing rift between traditionalists and a younger generation raised on a diet of Dutch tolerance.

The Committee for Ex-Muslims promises to campaign for freedom of religion but has already upset the Islamic and political Establishments for stirring tensions among the million-strong Muslim community in the Netherlands.

Ehsan Jami, the committee’s founder, who rejected Islam after the attack on the twin towers in 2001, has become the most talked-about public figure in the Netherlands. He has been forced into hiding after a series of death threats and a recent attack.

The threats are taken seriously after the murder in 2002 of Pim Fortuyn, an antiimmigration politician, and in 2004 of Theo Van Gogh, an antiIslam film-maker.

Speaking to The Times at a secret location before the committee’s launch today, the Labour Party councillor said that the movement would declare war on radical Islam. Similar organisations campaigning for reform of the religion have sprung up across Europe and representatives from Britain and Germany will join the launch in The Hague today.

“Sharia schools say that they will kill the ones who leave Islam. In the West people get threatened, thrown out of their family, beaten up,” Mr Jami said. “In Islam you are born Muslim. You do not even choose to be Muslim. We want that to change, so that people are free to choose who they want to be and what they want to believe in.”

While there obviously should be no compulsion to join a religion one doesn't want to, there should also be no room in a civilized society for compelling someone to remain in a religion they no longer want to be part of. We take freedom of religion and freedom of conscience for granted in the West, but this right is threatened or nonexistent in large parts of the world. Prayers for those brave persons who want to be free to follow God's call or their own conscience wherever it takes them.

The Jawa Report and LauraMansfield.com have obtained an exclusive copy of an unreleased al Qaeda video featuring Osama bin Laden. The video is the last will and testament-- or "martyr" video--of Waleed al Shehri, one of the 19 hijackers responsible for the 9/11 attrocities. The first 15 minutes of the video is here. The video shows Osama bin Laden in the same clothes and with the same background as another 'new' video released of the al Qaeda leader this week.

Waleed al Shehri was on board Flight 11 and is thought, along with his brother Wail al-Shehri, to have murdered at least two flight attendants during the hijacking. Mohammed Atta flew the plane. The plane eventually was crashed by Atta into World Trade Center North Tower 1.

UPDATE: Just to clarify I see that CNN is now running a story saying the video has been posted. Not true. It hasn't. Laura Mansfield has the video, but al Qaeda did not post it on the internet. I think the word intercepted is more descriptive.

How could they have posted the video? All their favorite forums where they usually post are now offline. ;-)

UPDATE 9/11/8:00 AM: The video has been released, but what forum was it posted to? In fact, the only copies I now see are Laura's, SITE's, and Intel Center's--of which only Laura is making the video publicly available. Since al Ekhlaas, as Sahab's favorite forum, is currently offline, then where did they release the vid?

UPDATE: I love this screecap Laura grabbed. So, here we have an official al Qaeda video, with an introduction from Osama bin Laden, showing Waleed al Shehri sayings he's about to become a martyr, with an image of the WTC buildings burning in the background, and yet still the Truthers deny al Qaeda was behind 9/11.

What is that I keep hearing about 'there is no compulsion in religion'? I don't know what else you call it when an old German woman held hostage by the Arrows of Righteousness Brigade converts and then suddenly she's set free. A case of 'I saw the light while being held hostage'?

This video was released today. Hannelore Marianne Krause was released by the Iraqi terrorist group in July. Now we know why. Her son is still being held hostage in Iraq. The group is now threatening to murder him if Germany doesn't withdraw its troops from Afghanistan in 10 days.

Want Some Campaign Advice, GOP? Here!

1) Find out every candidate up for election in 2008 that recieves money, endorsement and/or support from MoveOn.org. Use Open Secrets.org for help (a Soros-funded site, no less!)

2) Retain copies of the despicable "Betray-Us" ad MoveOn.org ran in the NYT today.

3) Demand, demand, demand at every opportunity (to the point of calling numerous press conferences dedicated to just that purpose all the way up until 2008) that the Democrats distance themselves from this disgusting, anti-Troop, anti-Military rhetoric. Demand to know why this "mainstream" Democrat organization is representative of the Democrat Senators and House members if they don't denounce or distance themselves from the ad and the rhetoric.

4) If any Democrats waffle or try to spin, ask and demand they explain why they support the MoveOn.org rhetoric attacking Gen. Petraeus and calling him a liar (who they voted for 81-0 in the Senate) and why they won't distance themselves from it. If they're taking $$ from MoveOn, ask them why they take money from an organization that engages in such base political demagoguery.

5) Don't let them off the hook. Get cameras in their faces and get them on record. Put it on YouTube, LiveLeak, MetaCafe - everywhere. Go on offense, morons.

Now watch them do exactly none of this.

Federal Prisons Censor Christian/Jewish Books in Effort to Stop Islamic Terrorists

Our stupid federal government. I have a great idea, let's give them more power! NY Times:

Behind the walls of federal prisons nationwide, chaplains have been quietly carrying out a systematic purge of religious books and materials that were once available to prisoners in chapel libraries....

Traci Billingsley, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Prisons, said the agency was acting in response to a 2004 report by the Office of the Inspector General in the Justice Department. The report recommended steps that prisons should take, in light of the Sept. 11 attacks, to avoid becoming recruiting grounds for militant Islamic and other religious groups. The bureau, an agency of the Justice Department, defended its effort, which it calls the Standardized Chapel Library Project, as a way of barring access to materials that could, in its words, “discriminate, disparage, advocate violence or radicalize.” ...

The Bureau of Prisons said it relied on experts to produce lists of up to 150 book titles and 150 multimedia resources for each of 20 religions or religious categories — everything from Bahaism to Yoruba. ...

“Otisville had a very extensive library of Jewish religious books, many of them donated,” said David Zwiebel, executive vice president for government and public affairs for Agudath Israel of America, an Orthodox Jewish group. “It was decimated. Three-quarters of the Jewish books were taken off the shelves.”

Anything not on that list gets thrown out. A lot of Bahais in federal prison, I suppose.

I have an idea, why not just throw out all Korans. That pretty much covers all the hate bases.

It looks like OBL just can't keep away from the cameras. We already have several videos of the 9/11 hijackers, but not all of them. I'm surprised al Qaeda didn't release them earlier.

Since we already have a similar al Qaeda video in which Mohammed Atta and others speak, I guess we already know how the truthers are going to respond: it's all a CIA plot, man.

Yes, I know at least some of the websites they are talking about. No, I won't say what they are. Not now, at least. Patience Padawans, patience. But I will say this: they are written in English. Which might come as a major surprise to many, but it shouldn't. When a Pakistani wants to communicate with a Turk, they choose the language that most educated people speak: English.

Crude bomb-making instructions have been circulated on the web for years. But we found expert videos showing wannabe killers how to create home-made bombs, chemicals and poisons for mass murder....

But despite the setback, al-Qaeda increasingly use websites to give lessons in terror as they are harder to track than fanatics travelling to foreign training camps.

The story leads to this bit of editorializing:

Policing the net is no longer just about removing vile pornography or violent videos. It is now a matter of life and death.

Yemen Protests Death Toll Update

Sources report three killed and eight wounded in Al-Dahalie during a demonstration against President Saleh's regime.

Authorities prevented a sit-in in Liberation Square. I'm assuming that's the one in Aden, not Sana'a. That'a a total of eleven demonstrators killed within the last month. Details to follow. These are not professional protesters, just normal people who joined a protest to demand their rights.

Update: Demonstrations are treasonous and chanting slogans is illegal: President Saleh. Others may see demonstrations as a civil right and an important method of political participation. Its a constitutional right in Yemen. However, the Yemeni government rarely complies with the law.

Yemen Times: SANA’A, Sept. 7 - In a statement circulated to media outlets last Tuesday, the Supreme Security Committee (SSC), chaired by President Ali Abdullah Saleh, warned against any practices disfavoring national unity.

“Any practices that harm national unity and jeopardize the national ranks unity by any party, organization, group or individual, shall be firmly confronted and perpetrators shall be referred to the judiciary for high treason,” the statement said. This measure complies with the effective Yemeni constitution and laws applicable in the country, the statement claimed.

(Jerusalem) As odd as it seems, it's not illegal to hate Jews in Israel. The founding fathers and all subsequent leaders never thought there would be the need for such a law. Unfortunately, times change.

Israeli police announced on Sunday the arrest of a gang of alleged neo-Nazis, all immigrants from the former Soviet Union, accused of waging attacks on foreigners and religious Jews, in a case that has deeply shocked the Jewish state.

The eight men, aged 16 to 21 and including the suspected leader of the group, were arrested after a year-long investigation, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told AFP.

One of the members of the group has left the country and remains at large, he said, adding that the first suspect was arrested on July 23 and the last on September 6 when he returned to the country from a trip abroad.
