Today, Al Gore is making the same claims of a scientific consensus, as do the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and hundreds of government agencies and environmental groups around the world. But the claims of a scientific consensus remain unsubstantiated. They have only become louder and more frequent.

More than six months ago, I began writing this series, The Deniers. When I began, I accepted the prevailing view that scientists overwhelmingly believe that climate change threatens the planet. I doubted only claims that the dissenters were either kooks on the margins of science or sell-outs in the pockets of the oil companies. [...]

Somewhere along the way, I stopped believing that a scientific consensus exists on climate change. Certainly there is no consensus at the very top echelons of scientists -- the ranks from which I have been drawing my subjects -- and certainly there is no consensus among astrophysicists and other solar scientists, several of whom I have profiled. If anything, the majority view among these subsets of the scientific community may run in the opposite direction. Not only do most of my interviewees either discount or disparage the conventional wisdom as represented by the IPCC, many say their peers generally consider it to have little or no credibility. In one case, a top scientist told me that, to his knowledge, no respected scientist in his field accepts the IPCC position.

Inconvenient truth for the left and the Democrats. The rhetoric of "climate change" (formerly known as "weather") sounds like a desperate assault on reason formulated instead to pursue monetary and political advantage .

Irony as thick as Algore's burgeoning waistline.

Lying whore Solomon cited a 1991 Gallup poll that supposedly found that only a small minority of scientists thought there was man-made global warming.

One conservative group criticized the news media for accepting claims that there is widespread scientific agreement on global warming. The Media Research Center cited "a recent Gallup poll" that said only 19 percent of the members of the American Meteorological Society and the American Geophysical Union think that a warmer climate has been the result of greenhouse gas emissions.

The Gallup organization said the poll was taken in October of 1991. It noted that some people, opposed to claims that human-induced global warming is occurring, "have used the study to support their position."

"These writers have taken survey results out of context that appear to show scientists do not believe that human-induced global warming is occurring."

The statement from Gallup noted that when asked if they thought human-induced global warming was occurring, 66 percent of the scientists surveyed said yes.

11 DemocracyRules, I know you don't care.  But for everyone else who has not taken a course in Propaganda 101, the AP story is absolutely true.  But note the 'Bait and Switch'.  The reporter quotes the Media Research Center reporting the result of the poll question asking if greenhouse gases are causing GW.  That is the Bait.  Then the switch,  insinuating that Media Research lied about the figure for the Greenhouse Gas question by quoting the result of a very different question on the poll asking about ALL causes of GW.

Personally, I like the quote from Tim Blair yesterday.  GW Scientists are holding another World Meeting, this time in Carns, Australia, 1200 miles from the nearest Capitol City.  Why such a remote site?  Cus it has WARM, Sunny Beaches

12 Good Lt,  I praise your determination in keeping Gore under the lamp like you do. I look forward to every article that disputes the 'consensus', and relish every paragraph. The hysteria Gore and his bots work so hard to create is unhealthy for the nation, and needs to be countered. I say if your starting to 'bore' people, then your doing good work. Bored people are hardly ever hysterical alarmists. Mission accomplished when they are all finally bored into total indifference on the subject, and until then, keep up the 'heat'
