Yemen Releases Eight of Eight Foreign Weapons Smugglers

Yemen today acquitted the last of eight foreigners who were accused of smuggling weapons to the ICU. The other seven foreigners were already released without charges, although Yemen's official media reported that seven confessed in November. Two Australians who were released are the sons of Jemaah Islamiah leader, Abdul Rahim Ayub. Early reports in October indicated the arrests blew an otherwise productive counter-terrorism surveillance operation by the Brits, although other reports dispute this.

SANAA (AFP) - A Yemeni court on Monday acquitted a Dane of Somali origin, Abdi Osman Soni, of attempting to traffic arms to the Islamist militia which controlled central and southern Somalia until December.
But his Yemeni co-defendant on the trafficking charge, Abdullah Awadh Abdullah al-Masri, was sentenced to three years in prison. The court did not state why Soni was acquitted but the prosecution said it would appeal the decision.
Both men were arrested on October 16. They are among eight people suspected of trying to traffic arms to the Union of Islamic Courts militia which controlled Mogadishu for six months up to its eviction by Ethiopian-backed transitional government forces late last year.

5 BTW Jane I wanted to say how much I appreciate your incite in regards to Yemen. Water is a precious resource and natives are suffering, terrorists are a threat and the natives are suffering. Amazing. Alot of people don't realize how good we have it here in the states. The plight of the Yemen people is truly sad. The crash course Pelosi and her ilk are heading us on we all need a heads up(newbie readers) or we will soon be following the leaders of islamic jihad. 7 Now back to the troll issue....."whats the agenda". I suggest you read every post. The answer is in front of you. We believe in freedom from oppression. We do not believe in Sharia law. (I wonder how much you are aware of Sharia law). We do not believe of using our children to blow themselves up for jihad. We do not believe of shielding the islamic crusaders with women so as the women would be killed rather than the jihadi. We do not believe in stoning women, we do not believe in women having to cover themselves as not to "offend Allah" (this is a copout for guys that can't control themselves...hence sexual preditors..), we DEFINITELY do not believe in the 72 virgins BS of the martyr. He committed the ultimate sin and will burn in hell not "paradise". We believe in equal rights for all as long as those rights don't infringe on our liberties. We have the right to speak out against a known terrorist supporter and say such to a University he may be connected to. We have the right to boycott any company that is supporting terrorism to let them know they are. We have a hell of alot of rights and we use them. Any questions have at it....
