Wear a Hajib/Turban Day

(Fremont, California) Attention, readers! Tomorrow is "Wear a Hijab/Turban to Work/School Day" in Fremont. Among others, the event is being promoted by the Foundation for Self-Reliance, the American Muslim Alliance and SEMAH, a domestic violence group.

From InsideBayArea.com:

"This is more than just 'wear a hijab or turban' day," said Samina F. Sundas, founder of the Newark-based American Muslim Voice and Global Peace Partners. "It's about educating each other about our differences and recognizing that we should focus on what binds us together."

The idea for the event originated days after Alia Ansari, a 38-year-old Afghan woman from Fremont, was gunned down Oct. 19 as she walked with her 3-year-old daughter to pick up some of her other children from an elementary school.

Police have yet to declare a motive in the Ansari case, but the perception among some in the community is that the shooting had to be a hate crime because Ansari was wearing a hijab, the traditional Muslim head scarf.

So, although the police haven't identified a motive in the Ansari killing, the Muslim community is taking immediate corrective action against hate crime. Notably, this response is consistent with Muslim reactions to perceived hate crimes in other regions of the globe. In those cases, however, corrective measures are more strident. Instead of 'Wear a Hajib/Turban,' everyone is simply encouraged to don an explosive vest.

Presumably, the next time a Jew is killed in a suspected hate crime, organizers will promote a "Wear a Star of David/Yarmulka to Work/School Day." Of course, don't expect the media to pleasantly encourage the public to participate.

1 Ah yes, because we all know that wearing a hijab or turbin is what we all have in common that binds us together.

2 I wonder if members of the Sikh community will participate.
Somehow, I do not think there is much commonality that binds
Sikhs to muhammedans with/without the turbin.

Interesting how common honor killings are in the muslim community, but crickets chirping.  They're more concerned with the ever elusive "hate crimes."  Says a lot.  And Leftard silence also speaks volumes.

5 I have been following this story. Most of the articles at first went
ahead and claimed it was a hate crime and she was killed for only being
Muslim. Their proof.....why else would anybody randomly kill somebody
on the street in such a peaceful utopia as Fremont. What bullshit.

6 I guess you support freedom of religion, only if it is a religion that you approve of.

Christians and Jews are OK, right?

Of course, a lot of you are not too crazy about the Jews, either, since they are the ones that killed Jesus.

Any other religions that meet with your approval?

Which ones would you ban, in this country, if you could, besides Islam, since we all know that all Muslims are terrorists, don't we?

If I were you, I wouldn't be trying to piss off any more Muslims, especially the one million plus that are living in America.

There are still a few left, that President Moron, hasn't pissed off, yet, but he keeps trying.

And with your help, he is succeeding on pissing off the rest of them.

Kudos, all around, to President Moron and you guys, for helping to make the world a more dangerous place.

No, what binds you and your friends together is wrapping yourselves in the American flag and pretending that you are patriotic Americans, while you try to label everyone that doesn't agree with you as cowards and traitors.

Real Americans have voted the party of cowards and traitors out of office (except for the biggest one, who can't run again, anyway).

10 Oyster -

Actually, at 6AM, I was paying bills and praying for the tax increases on the rich, that will begin to get us out of the debt that President Moron has put us in.

Posted by: PuddleDuck at November 12, 2006 11:21 AM (qBTkS)

11 Yeah - of course it was a "hate" crime. Most crimes of violence involve an element of hating the other person. But I'd wager it's not a "hate" crime in the moonbat sense. It probably was a "honor killing". Consider, from the San Francisco Chronicle article on her killing:

1. The slaying marks the second time someone in the victim's family has been shot and killed in Fremont. . . The suspected gunman in that incident, upset over a spurned romance, also wounded Rahim Ansari's brother-in-law . . .

2. She typically drove to pick up two of her daughters from Glenmoor Elementary School, but left home on foot Thursday because of engine trouble. Witnesses said a man got out of a car, approached her and shot her at point-blank range before returning to the car and speeding away.

So - her family has fallen victim to a previous "honor killing" and her car just happens to develop engine trouble so she's forced to walk, where she gets killed. It sounds like an inside job - the person had access to her car to ensure that she was forced to walk to pick up the kids and the murderer knew she had to pick up the kids so he knew what time to hit his mark.

No. It doesn't look like a hate crime against Islam. It look suspiciously like a hate crime caused by the religion of hate - Islam.

13 When I first read this story, this woman and her children were actually living in  a shelter for domestic abuse victims.
Now tell me, how many domestic abuse victims are hunted down and killed in this country?
Why is that not being reported now?
Suddenly, this is a hate crime?
Where is the muslim husband she was fleeing in the first place?

14 Seems the moonbats are feeling froggy lately. I've noticed quite a few taking up space at various blogs since the election. Pity, they never seemed to have learned that a smart mouth doesn't denote a smart mind.

The Republican talking point is that the Democrats are going to "raise your taxes", not that they are going to "rollback the tax cuts".

What happened? Did you let your subscription to the Daily GOP talking points newsletter run out?

You're right, Oyster.

Even the middle class is going to ante up their fair share of taxes to pay for the economic disaster that President Moron has made of this country.

If we don't raise taxes now, all we are doing is putting more of a tax burden on our children and grandchildren or don't you care about your children's future?

And you shouldn't worry about taxes going up.

Since you are such a fucking genius, you must be rich and can afford to pay more taxes.

Yep, I would have to get up earlier than 6AM to outsmart you.

You continue, with each post, to further convince me of your superior intelligence.

The countries with the highest rates are overwhelmingly "christian"
In the United States the most horriffic recent mass murder was the killing of the Amish schoolgirls. In his suicide note the shooter wrote about how angry he was with his God

Honor killings occur in many countries, both christian and muslim. It was only in the past decade that Brazil finally outlawed honor killing of wives.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_killings

26 Excellent! I'm glad somebody on the correct side of the mental spectrum is weighing in on this.

I live pretty close to Fremont and it's driving me crazy that more people aren't seeing this for the crock that it is.

Whoever did this was described as a "Latino or Black" man--(I would also suggest Middle Eastern) Whoever it was got out of the car and walked towards this woman. So it's unlikely that the killer was just looking for any Muslim--it seemed like they were going after a specific Muslim woman. Add to this the fact that the husband, who owned his own mechanic shop left after the funeral with his children to Afghanistan citing economic reasons (as if owning your own business in the West is not as economically viable as living in Afghanistan)

Another thing that is not getting much media play--mentioned just once in the Chronicle after paragraphs denouncing video games, Christians, and talk radio--that four years ago a similar shooting took place in the same family over a "spurned relationship".

I'm willing to bet anything this was an honor killing. And here we are again sponsoring a Let's All Convert Day. . .

Good work, Jawa!

After reading your comments, I wouldn't want to be you either. So we're even. And since this is a right-of-center blog, what the hell did you expect, socialism?

Posted by: jesusland joe at November 13, 2006 12:06 PM (8PoNP)

55 My expectations are not the issue. I accept things as they are. From the way you express yourself you make your position clear. I'm not suprised by that.

Let me educate you on a couple of things. I'm
Sicilian. If my 2nd cousin calls me a dago we're cool. But IF, the Irish kid from the next block over calls me a dago...you know where we're gonna go. So if you call a queer a queer you best be one buddy. Otherwise you have insulted alot of good men and women. It's the same for people of other colors or religions.

Calling people towel heads is not cool.

Calling people kikes is not cool.

If you are in a resturant and you say hey look there's a queer....

Calling people a QUEER IS BIGOTRY. Ya got that?

If you truley do believe that's not offensive, and you meant no harm, find another way of expressing yourself.

BTW, how do you stant on Gay marriage. But before you get you undies in a bunch here's the definition:

56 NoFear,

this is CARLOS speaking to you.  stfu asshole.  The way you Leftards speak of christians one would think you are the most bigoted people on the planet.  Glass houses.  If you think we are bigoted, we learned it from the best (you).

57 Puddleduck:
Are you ever going to get around to answering me on the "Isn't it ironic?" thread? I am unsure if you're arguing with me, or just being sarcastic.

58 Here's the definition of marriage in the state I live. That would be the law, not my definition, just so you know.

Marriage-a legal union between a man and a woman.

That is what the law says, not me. It also happens to be my definition.

I'm liberal and a Christian. Christ was a liberal.

Problem with a Christian being liberal, Carlos?

How well do you know your Christianity?

For someone with Jesusland in their name, it seems they have little understanding of just who Jesus was.

Posted by: Liberal Christian at November 13, 2006 05:31 PM (311gq)

60 for a 'liberal' you seem to have little understanding that 'jesusland' is a derogatory term for the red states.

Posted by: davec at November 13, 2006 05:45 PM (QkWqQ)

61 So they're derogatory to themselves?  Fascinating!

62 No, we're showing you to be the hypocrits you are, dumb butt.

Posted by: jesusland joe at November 13, 2006 06:08 PM (8PoNP)

63 That makes no sense.  But at least it gives you the opportunity to actual say anything of real substance.

64 No, it was a label given by Liberals, after the 2004 election:

I however would prefer to live in 'jesusland' than the 'united states of canada' and not everyone is ashamed of it either.

Posted by: davec at November 13, 2006 08:03 PM (QkWqQ)

65 That makes no sense.

Because you're a dumb ass.  But if Jesus was a "Liberal", then God is a conservative.  Except Jesus wasn't a Liberal because although he loved sinners, he hated sin-- and Liberals LOVE sin.  You glorify it.  So no, he wasn't a Liberal.

66 "given these countries ARE our adversaries or enemies, how is the joooish lobby putting Israel's interests before our own? Methinks it's moonbats and Leftards putting our enemies interests before our own (as usual).
Posted by: Jesusland Carlos "

Of course they are "adversaries", because President Moron says they are (or is it just you JC that is saying that - I certainly wouldn't want to put words in President Moron's mouth, since he wouldn't know what to do with them anyway).

We will be invading these countries any day now, since they have been declared as "adversaries".

I thought Jesusland was a RW conservative Christian amusement park in Kansas.

I think it's right next to the Creationist Museum of Natural History.

You know - the one that depicts humans fighting with dinosaurs.

You guys seem like even bigger idiots, when you try to defend each other.

Keep up the good work.

68 Apparently subtlety flies right over your head, fuddlepuck.

Posted by: jesusland joe at November 14, 2006 10:16 AM (8PoNP)

69 piddle,

if you had even a tiny shred of intellectual honesty it might make a difference whether you call us idiots.  You don't, so it doesn't.  You know exactly what the term "Jesusland" is, who coined it, and why we adopted it.

Your other comments that Iran, et al, is our adversary only because bushitler said it was is also devoid of any honesty (or maybe it's brains).

Posted by: Jesusland Carlos at November 14, 2006 10:16 AM (8e/V4)

70 I'm saying it's a lack of brains, although fuddlepuck is devoid of honesty as well.

71 Hey Puddleduck:
Why don't you get back to me on the "Isn't it Ironic" thread where you claimed that Bill Clinton wasn't impeached?

Yep, Cinton was impeached?
Yet, he was somehow able to finish out his second term.
Posted by: PuddleDuck at November 12, 2006 08:13 AM
I would have thought that lying about a blowjob would be just as bad, if not worse, than covering up a felony breaking and entering, wouldn't you?

How did he manage to finish his second term, without being tossed out?
Posted by: PuddleDuck at November 12, 2006 12:24 PM

It's funny that you don't know that the Senate had to censure him for him to lose office, he was impeached -- impeachment does not mean you're automatically kicked out of office , and your Nixon example is even funnier because he never waited to be censured, he resigned.
How's it feel to have a 'foreigner' tell you how your own countries Government works?

Liberals ARE foreigners for all intents and purposes, always siding with our enemies and adversaries, always threatening to sail to Fwance when they don't get their way.
