Virgil Goode's Letter

Despite all the blog buzz over Virgil Goode's letter, I had to dig a while to find the full text of the actual letter. Here it is:

Thank you for your recent communication. When I raise my hand to take the oath on Swearing In Day, I will have the Bible in my other hand. I do not subscribe to using the Koran in any way. The Muslim Representative from Minnesota was elected by the voters of that district and if American citizens don't wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran. We need to stop illegal immigration totally and reduce legal immigration and end the diversity visas policy pushed hard by President Clinton and allowing many persons from the Middle East to come to this country. I fear that in the next century we will have many more Muslims in the United States if we do not adopt the strict immigration policies that I believe are necessary to preserve the values and beliefs traditional to the United States of America and to prevent our resources from being swamped.

The Ten Commandments and "In God We Trust" are on the wall in my office. A Muslim student came by the office and asked why I did not have anything on my wall about the Koran. My response was clear, "As long as I have the honor of representing the citizens of the 5th District of Virginia in the United States House of Representatives, The Koran is not going to be on the wall of my office." Thank you again for your email and thoughts.

Sincerely yours,

Virgil H. Goode, Jr.

1 "Virgil Goode position on immigration?"

Is that sort of like the People's Elbow or the Stone Cold Stunner?

2 Virgil must be a very arrogant person who cares about his own ego more than a beautiful woman about her hair. I dislike him if I only read his letter.

Thank you for sharing this story with me !

I can relate to the sentiment, but Rep. Goode did not articulate his position very well.  What people need to understand is that islam demands dominance over all other religions and sociopolitical structures, and is incompatible with a western, Judeo-Christian constitutional republic.  Someone who swears on the koran -- and follows islam -- cannot uphold and defend the consitution of the United States.

4 The solution is simple. OUTLAW ISLAM.

5 Another queston needs to be answered. Is this Muslim representative an immigrant muslim or just another white hating dingbat black from a balck majority district. I've always said blacks would elect O.J. Simpson or a black baby raper to office merely to iriate white people. In New Orleans, blacks don't care if the candidate is a crook (Willie Jefferson), thief, whatever. As long as he is black he is elected over a honest, intelligent, competent white person. This guy Ellison (spelling?) may well be from one of those districts.

9 I don't think the Quran is a helpful source of inspiration for being a US politician, so I relate to Goode's point of view if he chooses not to display one.

I doubt I'll be saying much else here.

USA, all the way!

10 I think elected officials speaking out against muslim bullshit in America is good. It's a start. I would like to see more.

11 It appears in fact that Ellison is your typical white hating black muslim from the ghetto.
