Recently, the parents of convicted Taliban supporter John Walker Lindh have been engaged in a media campaign to have their son's sentence reduced. This was prompted by the lenient sentence imposed upon Australian David hicks, who will reportedly be free in another nine months.
Lindh's parents have been interviewed by several news outlets over the past week, and it seems their intent is to capitalize on the new national 'mood', now that several years have passed since the 9/11 attacks. They seek to build media momentum in order to force the issue to the president's desk, where they hope George W. Bush's 'capacity for compassion' will prevail.
It is understandable that Lindh's family would do whatever is possible to protect their son. However, the news media has no such motive, and I suspect their agenda is somewhat less wholesome.
Regardless, John Walker Lindh betrayed his country, took up arms in the name of the Taliban and supported those who seek America's destruction.
My response to the Lindh family media campaign is below the fold.

This video show’s us just how backwards the liberal mind works. These people actually think because an Austrian got 5 years in another country. That we the American public will stand by and watch a true Trader to our country walk free after serving only a 5 years of a 20 year mandatory sentence. They see the truth, they hear the truth, but they only live in there fairy tale version of life.
Johnny Taliban's own views. According to Newsweek, Walker admits not only to being a member of the Taliban, but also a member of al-Qaida. He says he trained in bin Laden's terror camps and even met the "Shayk" himself. And most convicting of all, he expressed, out of his own mouth that he supported the 9-11 attacks.
The liberals see traders as heroes; they see terrorist as freedom fighters, be headers as Muslim liberators, while we see them as the scum and filth of the earth and that need to be purged right down to the last one. Europe can no longer control the Muslims in there country because they are over run and almost a majority. Arewe going to let that happen here?

I understand they're his parents, but I can't believe the interviewer didn't call them out on this. He wasn't convicted of converting to Islam or crossing the "temperature" of the country, he was convicted of taking up arms for a hostile foreign government. Hello, consequences. And the twenty year sentence was itself a plea bargain. Letting him out early would only be taken as a sign of weakness by his fellow travelers.

Another victim of Liberalism.
He was raised in a cultural and religious vacuum by "citizen of the world" Liberals who don't believe in anything, and radical islam rushed in to fill that void in him.
As the old saying goes, if you don't believe in something, you'll believe in anything.

Of course, they should then go get Robert Hanssen and Earl Pitts and do the same.
