5 Americans have been busting their asses for decades building war products to avoid going to war.  Now that we are fighting a war, it's only natural that we use these weapons; ugly killing machines that they are...but so beautiful when viewed behind them.  Hell raining on our enemies!  Soldiers excited and willing to play this deadly game.  Can it get any better?  You bet...when they lose and the good guys...that's us--win!  And if anyone doubts we are not the good guys, I ask this question:  "America, my country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty!"   I think this just about says it all.  Remember those purple fingers sticking the air over in Iraq?  Wonder how those people will feel some years hence if we are allowed to win that war in their country along side with them?  Free people, deciding how to live, having access to a political process.  I know what we are fighting for.  Noble. Good.  Now, let's shoot some more bad guys!

6 This is only a portion of a video that's about five minutes long.  How do I know?  I know the guys flying the helos.  That's a mixed section (Cobra/Huey) over Haditha (I think, can't remember - might be Ramadi) from my MEU, probably Nov 2005.  The Army unit they supported that night (all the guys whooping and hollering) were so impressed they sent the video to us about a week later as a thank you.  Sadly, I never got a copy for myself, but we all watched the hell out of it.

7 By the way, the best comment on the whole video from one of the soldiers got cut out of this version.  As I recollect, even HE thought our guys were being gratuitous.  After the second rocket run, and THIRD dose of minigun from the Huey, the quote was something along the lines of "JESUS CHRIST!... I mean kill 'em, but JESUS..."

9 Brings back some good memories, I was a crew chief on a OH6A, D Co. 158th, 101st. We were a AH1G Cobra outfit flying north of Hue, 1970-1971. You would not want to be on the receiving end of 20mm from a mobile platform.

Doriangrey, nothing would please me more than that we all said "USA, all the way!"  I don't claim exclusivity. It is what our Founders worked for, so that we would have a nation where we could be free. Thanks for feeling as you do!     USA, all the way!

11 Sure does look pretty - especially when there aint no return fire.

Not all action is visible in all vids. There are a lot of weapons that don't use tracers when they fire. Also, you don't know that what you were seeing wasn't in response to an initial attack, in which case it was probably supressing fire intended to keep the enemy pinned.

It could be that they were suppressing a forward observer for a mortar position. We don't know, so the lack of visible return fire is not a big deal. the secondary explosions indicate enemy munitions wen't up when hit, so I think it's safe to say there was a battle going on.

           USA, all the way!
