Remembering the 7/7 London Bombing

Howie-unionjack.gifBy the time I get this posted the one year anniversary of the London tube bombings will be fast approaching. In fact it's already 7/7 in London now as I'm typing. It was a normal Thursday morning I got up and checked the news and there were reports of some bombs or electrical problems in the London tube. I checked the blog and Mike Pechar had The Jawa Report on top of things. His post received a huge number of trackbacks. As the day wore on it became clear that London, like NYC and Madrid before, had become the victim of a serious attack by a terror cell loyal to al-Qaeda.

This was espcially tough to swallow here in America. To know that our mother country was under attack and suffering for standing with us in the War on Terror. I cannot help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. Though the birth of the United States caused great pains on both sides, we and the British are one. The bond between our peoples is unbreakable and enternal. One will always stand for the other. This event brought home with deadly gravity what it means to have a true ally. Stand together we shall and we shall never forget!

I've collected up a few links one here and more below the break. They are The Jawa Reports account of the hours and days following this cowardly attack. Special thanks to Mike Pechar, who's work on this event really stands out.

The events start here with Mike Pechars post breaking the news. Demosophist. The Madrid Strategy.

My post rounds up some of the first official statements.

Another post by Demosophist about the percieved sophistication of the attacks at the time.

Howie updates again in the late evening of the bombing.

Mike Pechar al-Jazeera claims Al-Qaeda not involved the next morning along with MSM roundup

Scotland Yard's first press conference.

Fly the Union Jack.

Dr. Rusty Shackleford reminds me, "Lest we forget some of the Islamist reaction".

The Jawa Report Archive for the entire month of June 2005. It's an impressive record of the event.

1 As we speak, terrorist supporters and their enablers are having a conference on Islamophobia, when what they are direly in need of is psychiatric care.

My disgust for these Islamists is only matched by my anger and alarm for the average Britain. Can they not see what is going on right in front of their faces? The cheek of these Muslim heathens is unbelieveable.

3 I'm surprised Mick Pechar would blog about 7/7 given that it has absolutely nothing to do with women accused of pedophilia.

What is with all the sexually-obsessed bloggers you have brought on?

Jesus, if it is not Chris with his yellow-fever and half-naked shots of buttless, hipless, fake-tit Pinoy trannies, it is Mike Pechar waving his pitchfork in support of a school-teacher witch-hunt.

4 G-d Save the Queen! Fly that Union Jack!

We're behind you, UK.

You too, Mr. Nobody - America loves ya.

5 I do believe Darth Vag has got his panties in a wad.

6 From the crusades to the holocaust to 9/11 to 7/7. How many people have died in the name of religion? Is this really human nature. Today i don't just mourn those who died but i mourn humanity.

7 Darth Fag is just another iteration of the resident idiot known as "greg the retarded", and so exists to remind us why it will be okay to point and laugh when they're dancing at the end of a rope and shitting themselves.

9 How about before the Crusades, rob? When the Muslim armies were slaughtering millions. Surely you didn't forget that little piece of the puzzle. Wouldn't want to leave that out, now would we?

10 I don't know. Darth Vag sounds pretty racist to me. Racist against Asians? Hmmm. Difficult. There are so many different ones. But the Japs are our equal. That I have decided. Proof is in the UFC ring.

11 To reiterate - as an average english bloke, I hope I can speak for most average english blokes in thanking you people for the kind sentiments expressed on this grim anniversary. I'm just one random nutsack amidst several millions, but it meant a lot to me.

I replied more fully in the post above (the one entitled 'to our brothers and sisters in the uk'). I even wrote a crappy attempt at an off-the-cuff poem. I only wish I was better-able to vocalise the appreciation that most of the UK feels for your continued support.

Cheers, people. If you ever come by my way, I shall buy you a drink.
