2 It's nit-picking I realize, but that muzzy gunman should be holding a baby in one arm and pointing the AK with the other arm - that is a more accurate depiction of the cowards.

5 Exactly, that's why there are close to 400 Lebanese dead as compared to 30 Israelis. As much as Israel have every right to attack Hizbollah, displacing half a million, killing 400 innocents so as to liberate a couple of privates seems a bit disproportionate........

I love the peaceniks. I really do. Their ability to come up with mindless arguments and then parrot them incessantly never ceases to amaze.

This "disproportionate force" idea is only the latest example.

The primary reason there are only 30 Israelis dead is that Hizb'Allah is firing small, unguided rockets. If they were using precision ordnance, I guarantee there'd be a lot more than 400 Israelis dead.

If this "disproportionate force" idea were applied domestically, cops responding to a lone hostage-taker with a .38 special could only send out one cop--armed only with a single .38 special. Sending in the SWAT team would be "disproportionate force"--especially if the hostages were just two secretaries. (Apparently, the social status of the hostages is very important to the left, for some reason.) The responding cop can carry no more bullets than the hostage-taker, and can't shoot unless & until the hostage-taker does, and then only one-for-one. If the hostage-taker empties his revolver, he must, of course, be given ample time to reload. He gets unlimited "time outs" as needed. He can do this at any time by calling for "negotiations" (a fancy word for "time out"). And it'd be preferable if the cop wasn't a particularly effective cop. Sending in Dirty Harry would, for example, be disproportionate--even without his .44 magnum. Dirty Harry has been known to use even common household objects in an unconventional and "disproportionate" manner.

8 Allowing an armed group of Jew hating terrorists to exist as a country/army within a sovereign nation, while allowing them to be supported by other Jew hating hostile nations is disproportionate. Particularly when the Jew haters instigated the fight.

Syria actually instigated it at the behest of Iran. Syria and Iran want a pressence in Lebanon. Instead they are being driven back even further.

BTW, Iran has promised a response to the Nuke issue in mid/late August. Don't be too surprised if it is a missile launched at Israel.

9 To further elaborate (or rather, to take a long, convoluted list of examples and say the principle involved) on the Good Lt's point, "proportionate force" in response to evil is an advocation to aid the evil person. In a war, an advocation to use "proportionate force" is an advocation that the war should become a stalemate. This only helps the weaker side, in this case the evil one, as it can keep the war going on indefinitely, chipping away at the stronger one and then retreating behind the mantle of "proportionate force."

Here's the big secret: To win a war, you use disproportionate force.

11 Where would we be if we attacked the Japs using a proportional force? (I mean during WW2) the whole concept of limiting your attacks to a level which allows the enemy sustain their own operations is stupid. It is defeatists and originates from losers. I mean the left.
