A little Instapundit post like this one can cause such a reaction from my little blog bitch Oliver Willis and Kevin Drum at Washington Monthly......is......there must be some truth to it. Stuff just doesn't get that kind of reaction unless you feel guilty about err something, like say maybe selling out your country for political gain?
Updated: (below the fold) Ooops had two ls in Oliver, Sorry about that Oliver, My bad. The only way a little blog post by Howie can get this much attention.....

Just to let you know about Buzz Patterson's relationship to reality, here's a quote from July 6, 2005:
"The war is being won, if not already won, I think," Patterson, who is retired from the U.S. Air Force, said. "[Iraq] is stabilized and we want the soldiers themselves to tell the story."

Hmmmm, I've often wondered that, if maybe the left thinks we can afford to play politics with the war because, "we can't lose in the long run anyway." It seems to me they discount the danger somewhat.
But it was a forgone conclusion that we would defeat Japan eventually as we went Island hopping to Okinawa. But it was still going to cost dearly to do so. That was the entire resoning behind the descision to bomb Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
I'll be the first to admit that George Bush's leadership abilities and Charisma are way way way below those of FDR. Leaving him to lead this war by himself is a piss poor strategy. All the more reason we need the congress and the people, both left and right, to help pull the f*cking load.
We need to push traditionally leftish issues of tolerance, political freedom and woments rights in the Islamic world just as hard as we pursue the military and diplomatic fronts.
We need the left to help with the war effort and with morale at home.
Not just the left but the entire congress abandoned their duty to help lead this nation to victory in the war with their cowardly "authorization" of Mr. Bush to act. al-Qaeda is not a state but was acting as a insurgent group intending on establishing a new state and states. I say the by God yu can desclare war on them as an aspiring state actor and we sure as hell should have.
Where are the limits on use of fuel to starve the ME of capital to run around blowing shit up? Why are states raising the speed limit during a time of war, To send more money to the enemy? To increase the cost to fuel our tanks? Where are the public service ad compaigns? People are dying out there and America is at the shopping Mall. My cousin just arrived in Iraq, he is 20 years old, trying to help change the world. Don't let him down.

It Didn't Work
By William F. Buckley Jr.
"I can tell you the main reason behind all our woes—it is America." The New York Times reporter is quoting the complaint of a clothing merchant in a Sunni stronghold in Iraq. "Everything that is going on between Sunni and Shiites, the troublemaker in the middle is America."
One can't doubt that the American objective in Iraq has failed.
