The Bottom Line.

This is a good article over at The Conservative Voice. Personally I think Hezbollah and the rest of the Middle East is laughing their ass off right now. Our concern for their manufactured hardships was easily predicted and shows our weakness. Yes we are being played like a fiddle.

The Conservative Voice: In this brave new world of political correctness and human rights for Islamic terrorists who have vowed to destroy Western civilization and all who adhere to civilization in general, only terrorists are now being given the green light to wage war. The arguments (AKA excuses) for this insane line of thinking are few and tepid. But, they are apparently powerful enough for those who continue to maintain a hatred for the Western world and a love for the â€œpoor oppressed terroristsâ€ in our midst....
...The Israeli airstrikes against Hezbollah rocket launchers in the village of Qana resulted in over 50 women and children, located in an apartment building, being killed. But, it appears that no men were killed. Hmmm. Interestingly, this is a standard terrorist Hezbollah tactic. It removes the men (so that they can continue to fight with Hezbollah) and leaves women and children for â€œcollateral damageâ€â€”to be used as a public relationsâ€™ ploy for the world press. It worked and continues to work to Hezbollahâ€™s advantage. Hezbollah was and is not blamedâ€”only its victims (in this case Israel) are. The leftist mainstream press drinks long and hard from the wine Hezbollah and other worldwide terrorist organizations provide to them and then proceeds to become drunk on it.
The bottom line? Only the terrorists should be allowed to fight. Yeah. That should do it!

1 Heard on NPR this morning one of the 'fathers' pledging his life and loyalty to Hezbolla. No word yet on whether he was simply repeating a past pledge or if this was one of those newly minted terrorist the left constantly reminds everyone that killing Islamists creates.

2 I am beginning to think that even the loss of a city or two will not be enough to wake up our governing elites. And I imagine the next day any protestors in cities yet to be targeted will gleefully take to the streets and blame the usual victims. More and more frequently now I am told by ersatz feminists that "wearing cover" might not be so bad and that they are beginning to appreciate the way it "shows respect for women". On the other hand are the Coughlinites - who somehow think they are conservatives - who share the Islamist hatred for Jews and think they can surf the jihad back to their imaginary 1950s.

This should be so easy: Democracy over dictatorship. Liberty or death. I do not understand the mystery. I see no nuance here.

Maybe something breaks inside when people live comfortable lives. Maybe the Light has to endure a new Dark Age before we regain our senses. Time to re-read Heinlein, folks. We are going to need the advice.

3 Flea, I am of the opinion that the Left is seeking to use the Islamists as a springboard for a return to power in the US. As I observe what is going on in Sweden, for instance, I could hardly argue with your premise. The Left is in power in Sweden, and they are apparently serving up the non-Muslim citizens for chicken soup, if one is to believe the statistics coming out of Sweden on the numbers of rapes and murders committed by immigrants, i.e. denizens of Islam. Look for more of the same in the rest of Europe, and eventually the US as well.

BTW I would like to see where feminists are saying the burka is respectful and acceptable. That would be an interesting read depending on who said it.

6 Well, Dreamer, the sleeper is about to be awakened. And I'm afraid it will be by another manifestation of the jihad. The nightmare is about to be real and fun time is over. Besides, you can only have fun for so long, and then more important matters tend to pop up, like being an adult. Our fetish in the West for adolescence needs to end, and end quickly, or we will find everything we have worked for so long "gone with the wind". Others have suffered before because they refused to take things seriously. It can happen again.

He also said something about attacking your enemy's weakness, and the biggest weakness of the West is their compassion. It's also a weakness they can depend on to be there tomorrow because even secular Westerners build their identity on it. If Western tanks had some weakness that allowed them to be knocked out, that weakness would soon be recognized and the tanks modified to erase it; but the when the weakness is kindness they will not modify their philosophy to protect themselves. You can resign yourself to watching your countrymen get jerked around by Hezballah's ilk for as long as they can show raw bodies to the camera crews.

9 Thankfully, I have yet to see the pro-burqa "feminist" line making much headway yet. Though the fact is that NOW, women's studies programs and basically everyone who was anti-Taliban up until the current administration decided to do something about it are now largely silent on the issue of women's equality in the Muslim world.

I am relating what I am personally hearing from some nominally feminist women. I am not alone in hearing this kind of talk. Writing for The Age a couple years ago is Monash prof, Karen Green. "The burqa stripped bare" describes how her sister's greatest act of rebellion against her tolerant family was to become a Muslim. Shades of John Walker Lindh. I expect we are going to see much, much more of this in the coming years and decades.

12 Flea, I noticed at LGF this morning that one of the protesters at whatever venue in Seattle had gained her outrage at Israel by gaining "knowledge" of Israeli atrocities from the "Paleostinian" giving her free lessons in Arabic. I live in West Texas where there are few if any mosques, so is it common for these mosques to give free lessons in Arabic to attract visitors, and perhaps converts? Do you know, or does anyone know the answer to that question?

13 I don't know about the free language lessons but I expect it is a common practice. If you belong to a proseletyzing and believe the closest thing to the word of God is written in 7th-century Arabic it would make sense for people to be able to read it. For what it is worth, I wish more Christians would take the time to pick up a little Hebrew and Biblical Greek. The Greek is actually pretty straightforward once you get the alphabet down.
