Saudi Inheritance Laws Shaft Women

Here's an interesting little glimpse of life in a Muslim country courtesy of the Arab News. It appears that Saudi Arabian women are entitled to only one-half the amount of inheritance given to Saudi men. Check this example of a man dying with six surviving daughters and one surviving son.

he property would be divided between the one son and the six surviving daughters. It should be divided into eight shares, giving one share to each of the six daughters and two shares to the son.As a result, the surviving son receives one-quarter of the total inheritance despite the fact that he was only one-seventh of the number of survivors.

Women's rights groups should probably protest. Of course, it's possible that Muslim women are satisfied with the unequal treatment under Sharia Law since they receive extra measures of peace. Or something.

1 You idiot

A man can have four wifes. If they each could inherit as much as a son they would have four times his property.

Since they can only get a half share (and since Arabs produce lots of kids) then assume a typical Arab family. Two boys, Eight girls. One boy blows himself up as a suicide bomber. Four of the other girls get killed as part of a honour killing deal.

At the end each of the four girls gets a half share leaving her and her fellow three wifes with a share equal to what their husband gets. Oh yeah, incest is pretty big there too.

2 They can't protest, unless someone rewrites the Qur’an. Which of course can never happen. A modified version of the holy book of Muslims only happens when a new copy falls from the sky! Which of course (again), will never happen!

But I don’t think it is such a problem. Those women are going to spend it probably on useless stuff anyway. Like, 450 pare of shoes, a trillion dresses, tons of make-up, large phone bills and of course boxes full of jewelry.

3 There is a UN Convention against this sort of behavior:

"The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW)"

Notice it says "all forms of Discrimination" and that includes religious discrimination.  You would think, 'No way in hell the Saudis will sign that' right?  Guess again, they did.

That also added a note, that they will complay as long as complying does not conflict with Islam. (A couple other countries did the same thing.)  Lets call it the Sharia Examption.

So in the end, the UN has a victory for Women's Rights and the countries that abuse women have an exemption from having to comply.  What did the UN do about this?  Nothing.

Just one more victory for the UN.

4 Is this really a problem to the west? Who gives a shit about muslim women? Aren't they the ones screaming "death to America" aren't they the ones training their children to be sucide bombers in the name of Allah? I could care less what happens to the bunch of sluts. Screw them. If you can sink that low. My dog Sam would turn down a stinky muslim.

5 Greyrooster;

When we contrast the treatment that women recieve under Islamic Sharia, with the rights they have under western systems like our US Constitution, WE WIN!

They want to hold Sharia up as some sort of perfect thing. We reveal it is imperfect by making noise about how they treat their women. It doesn't hurt us to show how Muslim women are not free, or how they are often victims of severe repression.

Plus there are plenty of hotties that are of middle eastern descent, and oppose the jihad against western freedoms, so try not to be so mean

Other than that, I'm with you on Muslim women who promote terror, and send their own children off as martyrs. Those kind are twisted caricatures of motherhood.

I hope you agree we should at least draw attention to the differences between our way, and sharia?

Happy New Year!
USA, all the way!

6 Women have no rights in Islamic countries.  That's really disgusting.

7 Saudi women are screwed by inheritence and divorce laws, but American men are screwed even harder by our misandrist inheritance and divorce laws.

The only person who should decide who gets what is the person who earned the money. That includes custody of children. Fuck everybody else, especially Big Brother. Government sanctioned gold digging has to end.

8 OUCH! Jeff ...

I honestly hope things work out for you.

Don't lose your passion.

9 My brilliant oratory is completely offset by the fact I'm at the approximate emotional level of a seventh-grader. Which is why my common-law wife left me and took the kids.

10 I wonder why? Some women are so misunderstanding.

11 Michael Weaver:

Thanks for the concern, but that hasn't happened to me. It could, though. It happens to other men every day in America.

Troll Jeff Bargholz:

Your chimpish mockery puts you at a seventh grade emotional level, not me. I notice you always leave your verbal feces on old threads, hoping to avoid me. That's the sign of a gutless coward.

I'm sorry you cant satisfy a woman sexually, but don't take it out on me. Try a bow-up doll, I hear they don't complain. Oh, wait--you already married one, didn't you. My bad. If anyone can get a blow-up doll to complain about lousy sex, it's you.

Maybe you can marry an Arab muslim woman. Most of them are ugly enough to marry anybody, and they aren't allowed to complain. You can take your frustration out on her, instead of the internet. That would probably turn a freak like you on.
