Qana : WaPo Defends Hizb'Allah's Honor
The Washington Post's Jefferson Morley comments on the bloggers questioning Hizb'Allah's Qana story:

I think some combination of cynicism, complacency and insulation has stifled the instincts of very good reporters. I also think there is also a failure of leadership at the senior editorial level. The issues raised ... are very serious. To pursue them is to invite confrontation. This means that ‘beat’ reporters cannot realistically pursue the story. I say all this way of explanation, not rationalization. There are several natural follow up stories ... that we should be pursuing right now….Oh, wait... wrong quote. That was Morley's comment on the Downing Street Memo. Here's his comment on Qana:

My question is: What is it about the photos from Qana that made Israel's supporters prefer fantasy to fact?Apparently, the standard of cynicism in the wake of inconsistent facts varies widely based on which side Morley's on. I made my call here. The questions isn't if the town was hit. It was. The question isn't if people were killed. They were. The issue, and the hoax, is that the cr^p that was spread all over the TV was staged by Lord Green Helmet.....and no one in the MSM is willing to call them on it. It is pathetic that a bunch of part timers like bloggers are have to do the heavy lifting.

Why doesn't the media get some people in these areas who can either be trusted, or else quit using their staged photos? When I looked at the names of these reporters, I knew they couldn't be trusted. You see, with these folks, Islam first, everything else last. Lying to the infidel is what old Mo told them to do. They are being good Muslims. So anyone in their right mind should have known these photos were staged without bloggers having to tell them.

Islam, purely through weight of numbers, has largely dug its own grave. There are good muslims, no doubt about that - but they tend to have grown up under the aegis of non-muslim governments. I dated a muslim lass in the UK - she was beautiful, friendly, and her family showed me nothing but kindness. A far cry from most muslim governments, who'd have chopped off her hands for fraternizing with an infidel.
It's a genuine pity to see a rational argument hijacked by ignorant white-supremacists. Yes, I'm looking at you, Greyrooster. Distasteful as it is to do so.

I don't think many of you know greyrooster very well. He is outspoken, but he does not hate people of color just because they are of color. What he says about NO, La, is basically true, as I have been connected in one way or another to that city for years. So has greyrooster, and he has the racial politics of that city down pat. And if disgust for such people as Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson makes me a racist, then racist I am. But I do not believe that is the litmus test. Greyrooster has a familial attachment to the Phillipines, whose people are hardly lily white. And I know he would honor any black, brown, white, yellow, or red person who served honorably, no matter the venue, so criticism there is unwarranted.

Actually, JJ is right. Greyrooster invites misunderstanding through his dialog. But many of us have been around long enough to understand him more thoroughly. Frankly, if push came to shove, I'd want Greyrooster on my side regardless what color I am. And while I'm at it, Maxie too. They both get radical in speech, but in action I suspect, nay, I "know", either could be counted on to be on the right side. And I don't mean "right" in a political sense.

Now whether or not yourself's personality and intelligence can stand alone without augmentation of superfical literary props is - well - up to you.

I have a couple of popints that may actually go along with GR's earlier staements about how some folks are willing to give the Mulims a pass.
Those wearing the Malcome X shirts probably don't realize X was on his way out of the Nation of Islam, and leaving behind his message of hatred. It is suspected he was killed for these reasons.
Anyone who can say the muslems did nothing to them, probably did not have any money invested in the market on 9/11. If they had, they would have seen the consequences over the following days and weeks as the value of their accounts tanked.

I'm pretty much opposed to GR, and I'm pretty surprised at the support he has here. He's a complete racist, who judges people on the basis of their skin color. I don't really care what experiences he has had that lead him to think that way. Let's review all the stupid things he has said lately:

2. He's said that descendants of blacks who served on his family's plantation are in public housing, so he's still "paying" for them. Uh, did you ever pay them back for two hundred years of free labor? For rapes? For family separation? For another 150 years of living in segregation? For living under fear of lynching? I don't support reparations, but your stupidity and hatred makes me want to support reparation taxation on dumb whites.

But all those people who have been defending him as an "interesting perspective" and as someone who "calls it like it is" or whatever other rationalism you use, please read his post above. He just said segregation worked. That we didn't have these problems them. That is among the most disgusting, ignorant statements I've ever seen. Look at infant mortality among blacks, or housing, or education, or income, since desegregation. Look at the gap between white/black since then. Desegregation and de jure equality finally pulled blacks out of the terrible hell America left them in.
