Iranian Threatened with Beheading on Hostage Video

An al Qaeda linked group has threatened to behead a captive Iranian security officer named Shahab Mansouri if the new President did not release all members of 'The Organization of God's Soldiers' from Iranian jails. Al Arabiya television ran parts of the video in which the group is described as saying:

....it would send the hostage's head as a gift to the elected president if its demands are not met,
One should remember that Salafist groups such as al Qaeda are both anti-Shia, which Iran's ruling clerics are, and opposed to democracy in any form--even pseudo-democracies such as The Islamic Republic.

1 Hmmm, I hate to say it, but this could be a good thing, to some degree, in the WOT, at least against Al Qaeda.

2 Yeah, I guess unless you're the one having your head sawn off.
I'm not sure how anyone getting beheaded is a good thing, period?

3 This is probably a staged set up and a charade.

Osama is probably in Iran (according to the CIA Goss). The Wahhabis are receiving money and some say manufactured car bombs and parts from the Revolutionary Guards of Iran.

Most likely, this is a staged kidnapping so that it will make it appear that the Wahhabis are at odds with the Iranian regime. They are not. Iran's primary focus is to destablize Iraq. Its secondary focus is to take over the government.

This is designed to drive the Shias more into the arms of Iran, and to make it look like the regime in Tehran is hostile to Al-Qaeda.

4 Oh God! I hope they don't think Bin Laden is in Iran, last time we relied on the C.I.A for "intelligence" that targetted a specific country, the U.S looked like the biggest Jackass.

5 What's interesting here, is that al Qaeda believes that Iran is
holding al Qaeda prisoners. Why don't we pressure Iran to turn them
over?

6 The video was real. He really was beheaded three weeks later. I feel sorry for him.
