Pelosi and Company Give Us a Preview of Dem 'Leadership'

From the Washington Post:

A showdown over the House majority leader's post today has Democrats bitterly divided only a week after their party took control of Congress and has prompted numerous complaints that Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and her allies are using strong-arm tactics and threats to try to elect Rep. John P. Murtha (Pa.) to the job.
Murtha is best known for his brilliant proposed strategy of redeploying our troops to Okinawa, and being an unindicted co-conspirator in the Abscam scandal. That's probably why he's blocking new ethics rules:
Murtha, 74, a former Marine who was among the first on Capitol Hill to call for a U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq, may have hurt his own chances Tuesday night when he derided the Democrats' ethics and lobbying package before saying he will push for its passage anyway out of deference to Pelosi. His statement, at a gathering of conservative "Blue Dog" Democrats, was cited by backers of his rival, Rep. Steny H. Hoyer (Md.), as further proof that Murtha's controversial ethics record disqualifies him to lead the party in a new political era.
Meanwhile, loose cannon Russ Feingold is working to make the US phone system safe for terrorists, and Dennis Kucinich wants to make Iraq safe for terrorists by cutting off military funding.

1 Actually, this is just a preview of the next two years. Nothing of importance will get done, divisions will widen, the presidential election in 2008 will get nastier than ever, and the Islamists will consolidate their positions all around the World, while the liberals fiddle...fiddle...fiddle....while Rome...well, you get the idea.

But it will be fun for us bloggers. We will have a field day, with more fodder than ever before. But our country will go to hell.

2 Instead of fiddling, why don't you go out and support your candidate, whoever that may turn out to be in 2008. In the meantime, you might want to support the government that was elected. That's what I tried to do.

Be constuctive. Not destuctive. Give them more that just a few days. After all you had 6 years to try and get it right. There's corruption on both sides JJ. And there always will be.

3 If the Democrats do an about face and decide to support the country and the troops, then I will support them. If they persist in their pre-9/11 blame-America-first mentality, I will not.

4 Bluto, that's about where I stand, also.

What makes you think the Dems don't support the troops. My son enlisted.  I didn't want him too.  Not for this war, not under this administration, but there it is and so is he. I want what is best for him and this country. For me it is what do we do now. What path to take. Period. We have to stop throwing good after bad and figure a way out. We can only do this if we communicate.

6 NoFear, I have no doubt you support the troops, but when we have people like John Murtha making ridiculous statements like redeploying to Okinawa, where we don't even have a base, or soon won't, many serious people have little faith in the Left side of the Democratic Party. How could someone in his position not know this? And his rush to judgment, and his accusations against some of our troops, even before any investigation had taken place, leaves me with little confidence in his abilities as a leader.

7 Well, Murtha's out, Hoyer's in. Looks like those with questionable political resumes don't move ahead in the Democratic party!

10 Except for Pelosi, Reid, Jefferson, Hastings...

Well, recalling few laments from you Bluto as Delay, DeWine, Ney and company forwarded their careers and party objectives, I think I'll hold judgement until I see what really comes of it all.

11 Hastings! God, what a joke on the American people. I thought the dems ran that creep off for good. Guess he found enough black bigots to elect him. This asshole is millions in the hole and hasn't a pot to piss in. Where do you think he plans on getting the money to pay his bills? Murtha, Willie Jefferson, Hastings. How can the lefturds be so stupid.

Whoa! Wait a minute here. These idiots will screw up and embarass the dems by 2008. There's something good in everything.
