Paper, Plastic, or Shari'a?

Via Kansas City Star:

MINNEAPOLIS - Beryl Dsouza was late and in no mood for delays when she stopped at a Target store after work two weeks ago for milk, bread and bacon.

So Dsouza was taken aback when the cashier - who had on the traditional headscarf, or hijab, worn by many Muslim women - refused to swipe the bacon through the checkout scanner.

"She made me scan the bacon. Then she opened the bag and made me put it in the bag," said Dsouza, 53, of Minneapolis. "It made me wonder why this person took a job as a cashier."

In the latest example of religious beliefs creating tension in the workplace, some Muslims in the Twin Cities are adhering to a strict interpretation of the Quran that prohibits the handling of pork products.

Instead of swiping the items themselves, they are asking non-Muslim employees or shoppers to do it for them.

2 Maybe it's against my religion to pay someone who won't swipe my bacon.   That didn't come out right.

3 Sorry, but that is when you leave everything on the belt unpaid for, especicially the bacon.

Good reason not to swipe the credit card until the service has been provided.

In another piece of twisted logic, the flying imams are suing for being kicked off an airplane carrying pork, dogs and alcohol, while their followers are kicking customers out of their cabs for doing the same thing.

Seems they missed lesson one of their 'Welcome to America' tutorial.
 - Welcome
 - Shut up and do your job

We have women in the DC area at the grocery checkout.  They have no problem handling my pork.

4 Call me unbalanced but I would have been tempted to open that package of bacon and shove some of it down her burka.

6 I would go to the register that see works on with two full carts of can goods and place the bacon and ten hams on the belt last. Then walk out. Twice every day.

7 If Target chooses to hire these ragheads then America should boycott Target.

8 Isn't target a french owned company? She must of been manager of customer relations...... isn't it great when people put being something else in front of being an American?  This is exactly the kind of bull shit that happens. And it's just the tip of the pigs snout... just wait for pelosi to require stores to hire seperate people to swipe the pork cause.... we wouldn't want to offend anybody with our way of life!!!! They might not want to bring their culture here!!!  Why the hell doesn't anyone care about hurting the pigs feelings? If the dems could get pigs to vote, look for it to happen, hell they already know how to get the dead to vote, twice. Check out harold fords aunti who got elected that way. ( That lateffa's in west TN )

9 I'm sure there is some law against not hiring a person who refuses to do her job. The ACLU would probably come to her aid if she was fired.

10 Target is not a French owned company. It is a U.S. Public Corp headquartered in Minnesota. Talk about______________

11 I could of sworn it was a french company, but if not, then thanks for setting me straight on it. I suppose I really should rely less on memory and more on the internet. Grand Isle shrimp will do that to you.

12 Grey Rooster is absolutly correct in that Target is not a french owned company, it's just acting like one. Thank you for that correction Rooster, love and puppy dog kisses..... WB

13 Shame even the muslim women are getting crappy. Dumb broads. Don't they know what Islam is all about.

Gotta go workout. I'm going to Roy Jones, Jr. place this Saturday. Have to stay in shape in case he gets uppity and I have to bitch slap him.

14 I have read some of the Koran but I think I missed the bit about not swiping bacon and pork bar codes. Maybe it is in the Hadiths. I guess when God says not to eat something then becoming completely phobic of it, to the point of blacking out Piglet cartoons from Winnie the Pooh books is a logically understood necessity.

64:14
O ye who believe! Lo! among your wives and your children there are enemies
for you, therefor beware of them.
And if ye efface and overlook and forgive, then lo! Allah is Forgiving,
Merciful.
