Oriani Fallaci, anti-dhimmitude activist, RIP

oriana_fallaci_young.jpgOriana Fllaci has died. A hero devoted to upholding the values of Western Civilization. A voice of warning in Europe's wilderness.

We hope Europe will wake up, but doubt it.

WaPo:

Veteran journalist and writer Oriana Fallaci, a former war correspondent best known for her abrasive interviews and provocative stances, has died, Italian news reports said Friday. She was 76....

Fallaci, a former Resistance fighter and war corespondent who was hardly seen in public, had lived in New York for years....

Her recent publications _ including the best-selling book "The Rage and The Pride," which came out weeks after the Sept. 11, 2001 _ drew accusations of inciting hatred against Muslims.

What WAPO fails to mention is the reason for the Italian journalist being in New York. She was in exile from a country which has enacted draconian hate speech laws. Fallaci's crime was for "defaming Islam".

She will be missed. Hat tip: Tom

1 How sad. I loved her books. She had been struggling with cancer for years and finally lost the fight. RIP.

3 What you say is right. But it can be said that her attitude was even more valuable since she changed her mind in a moment, something that torn her from her former life and beliefs and threw her out of "intellectual" life in Europe for some years.

8 What a remarkable human being is gone! Out of the silent timid hundreds of millions with their mouths shut by the ugly political correctness, she spoke her mind so passionately and valiantly. I feel like I lost a beloved sister...

9 she was not "in exile" due to "draconian hate speech laws." she has lived in new york for many years.

10 She can rest knowing that she did her part. It's a big loss for Europe, but sadly they'll never realise it.

11 Tim – I disagree with you. The reason she lived in NY for many years is because the “progressive” governments of Italy, France and Germany declared her “persona non grata” in the early 90’s. When she was in any of these progressive countries in the late 80’s and early 90’s she was hounded by the government of whichever country she was in spending lots of time in court and lots of money on lawyers. This century she was tried in absentia in France for one of her racist, xenophobic stories.

12 A light went off. A very bright light in the West. One of the few left to guide us on rough and threatening seas. I will miss her. Go with God, Oriani.

13 All of you who defend Oriani Fallaci's right to demonise Islam, do you also defend Mel Gibson's right to demonize Judaism?

18 idiot randal

you are a Jew hater - and you are defending the religion of beheadings brought into the world by the 7th century nomad who had delusions that allah spoke to him.

the koran verse surah 47 verse 4 is what is used to justify beheadings. there is nothing in the old testament that does that.

furthermore this year in the country where the religion of beheadings originated [saudi arabia] between january 1 2006 until september 4 2006 there has been 86 beheadings.
