Official Definition of Honor Killing
It's not clear what benefit is to be derived by having an official definition for honor killing. Nevertheless, here it is. It comes from the Culture Manager for Sanliurfa Province, a region abutting the border with Syria in southeastern Turkey.

"Honor killing applies to the ones escaping from their homes or betraying their wives or husbands. It does not apply to innocent ones."As a definition, it's quite vague. It's also unnecessary if one believes, as I do, that honor killing is simply murder.
However, it's worthwhile to note that within the context of the above definition, or an interpretation thereof, a reported 1,806 murders were committed in Turkey between 2001 and 2006.

Narcissistic response to being insulted beyond one's control: Honor killing...an attempt to return to one's self an image of respect and control. Like the Greeks who sought honor in battle, but twisted in the application of logic to justify one's actions. Ignorance plays a very important and active role here.

Only in a barbaric, uncivilized culture is murder redefined as "honor killing". Do these ignorant cretins understand that this is the 21st century and not the 9th? Obviously not.

"Honor' is a verb in that phrase ... because they 'honor' ... KILLING ! The are a walking culture of 'final solution'. If it doesn't behave as you would like, KILL IT!
