Not So Veiled Threats

"May you live in interesting times." - Ancient Chinese curse.

Yea, that is a curse when you think about it.

So is this:

TOKYO - Japan has the technological know-how to produce a nuclear weapon but has no immediate plans to do so, the foreign minister said Thursday, several weeks after communist
North Korea carried out a nuclear test.

This is welcome news. If there's anything that the ChiComs and Norks fear, it's a militarily resurgent Japan. One that is closely allied with the West.

3 But of course as we have seen with Saddam in Iraq todays ally (against Iran)  maybe (will be) tomorrows problem.
As far as I am concerned conventional arms is all they need.

4 John Ryan:

Are conventional arms all China and North Korea need, or do you think it's alright that they have them. How about Iran?

6 If the Japanese want to have nuclear weapons they will build them. We couldn't stop them any more than we could stop France or any other modern country. Would Japan be larger dangter than Pakistan or India?  I don't think so. Besides the Japanese are smart with their money. As long as we pay the bill to protect them from nuclear attack, they will accept it.
