Here is the animated picture released with the video by al Furqa media, an al Qaeda in Iraq production company. Yes, I know it's hard to believe, but al Qaeda has several production companies

The helicopter appears to have been downed with an anti-aircraft missile. A few days ago the same Islamic State of Iraq claimed to have discovered a "new method" for shooting down helicopters. But it is increasingly becoming clear that this "new method" is the use of anti-aircraft SAMs, probably brought in from Syria or Iran. Update: Roggio thinks Iran. See below.
As is common with al Qaeda linked jihadis, the announcement claimed that 15-20 "Crusaders" were killed, and not the 7 that actually lost their lives.
SITE:
The Islamic State of Iraq, through its al-Furqan Foundation, the official producer and distributor of multimedia for the group, issued today, Friday, February 9, 2007, a two and a half minute video of their claimed attack from February 7 in which a Chinook helicopter was downed in the area of al-Karma, in al-Anbar governorate. In the prior communiqué, the Islamic State indicated that the craft was shot down by its “Anti-Aircraft†battalion and this was purportedly witnessed by hundreds of people who shouted “Allah is Great!â€. The message from today introducing the video notes the U.S. Army announcing the death of seven soldiers; however, the group claims that eyewitnesses observed 15-20 bodies removed from the scene.UPDATE: Just found this by Bill Roggio. Excellent analysis. As a little background, the Islamic State in Iraq claims to have organized cells specifically aimed at downing helicopters.Footage shows a Chinook helicopter in flight and then fire erupting from its tail end. A smoke trail follows as it plummets to the ground.
The cells are thought to be armed with Russian made Strela SA-7 anti-aircraft missiles, a first generation shoulder fired anti-aircraft missile which is widely distributed throughout the world. These weapons are not as sophisticated as U.S. made Stingers, which were used with deadly consequences by mujahideen in Afghanistan against Soviet fixed and rotary wing aircraft. U.S. aircraft have systems to deter missile threats (jammers, flairs, chaff) but there are no reports these systems were deployed during any of the engagements....UPDATE II: Bill Roggio updates with the news that the helicopter probably was shot down with a more advanced SAM:It is surprising al-Qaeda has not made a more concerted effort to bring down Coalition aircraft. The military, political, and propaganda value of destroying U.S. helicopters is too great to be ignored. It has been speculated al-Qaeda in Iraq didn't possess enough weapons systems or training to effectively field the missiles.
The suspicion is the Islamic Republic of Iran is behind supplying al-Qaeda with the needed weapons, training and logistical support to supply and field a successful anti-aircraft force, much as the United States provided the mujahideen with Stingers in Afghanistan in the 1980s.
Sources indicate the cells may actually be using the SA-14 Gremlin (or Strela 3), which "has an improved system of overcoming countermeasures, increased range and flight altitude," according to Global Security, and was "developed for destroying low flying aircraft and helicopters." This second generation surface to air missile was developed in the late 1970s.An intelligence source indicates "a large batch of these Strelas were transfered to al-Qaeda," but would not identify the country of origin. We noted, based one multiple sources, the likelihood is Iran is providing the weapons to al-Qaeda, and the timing of the activation of these cells is to close to the rise in tensions between Iran and the U.S. to be a coincidence.

Dr. S.,
I hate to say I told you so, but Sir, I told you so!
Another reason to suspect the IRI rather than Syria is that the former has the oil revenue to finance the whole chain of activity from purchasing the equipment to the logistics support to training etc etc etc.
Syria does have some oil revenue but nothing like the IRI.
In my opinion, the only good member of the IRI regime is a dead one.

As I understand it, the best way for a pilot to thwart ground based RPG attacks is by dodging them because of the tell-tale signature and slow speed of the RPG. The shitbags have modified the RPG7 exahust ports now with a metal pipe so that the exhaust signature gives off a false direction of its trajectory, thus pilots are not able to dodge them as efficiently.
The RPG27 and RPG29 are both faster weapons plus they carry larger payloads that are designed to thwart armor in a more efficient manner. They are all produced by "our friends" the Russians.

I mentioned this before, but it bears repeating. SAMs are the perfect weapon for Shiite Iran to supply to Sunni Al-Qeada. Its not like Iran would be worried about them being used on their crappy Air Force. Its a weapon that would almost exclusively kill Americans.

That doesn't mean that the film is fake, but this possibly could be a remote-controlled helicopter used in a missile test, or it could have simply been mis-captioned.

I don't quite understand where you get off being critical of CNN for something you do yourself.

My question is, are you holding this blog' to same high standard as media outlets, or are you holding CNN to the low standard of a blog.
Posted by: BohicaTwentyTwo at February 09, 2007 05:50 PM (oC8nQ)
The accusations against CNN was that they were traitors for showing that footage. Whether it's a major network, a blog, or granny's newsletter doesn't make a difference... according to this site's own retarded logic, if you show that sort of footage, you are with the terrorists.
So what's the deal. Why is it okay for Jawa Report to show this while being critical of CNN?
Maybe "The Jihad Report" would be a better name for this site?

John ... a couple of words on why this site and CNN aren't engaged in the same practice. "CONTEXT". We are examining this material trying to understand the what tactics the enemy are employing, on a 'anti-terror' blog. Think CSI online. Some of the commenters here are really good at what they do.
If you're here, you already know this isn't the evening news. You are either here to find ways to analyze, and defeat terrorists. Or give aid and comfort to the enemy, like some Muslims, and Lefties do, or you are looking for "BALANCED" details about the war. By 'balanced' we would mean not just hours and hours of bad news that tore up whoever watched it, but good news as well, whichever is available.
CNN doesn't report good news, and exaggerates the bad news, so that an unbalanced presentation of events is what you get from them. In a word, they engage in "PROPAGANDA" by selection, and emphasis of the material they choose. In short, they only seem to use material that hurts our moral, and puts our victory at risk.
Here you get all the variety. Nobody likes the chopper being shot down unless it's some jihadist lurker, or far left psycho. On the other hand unlike CNN just showing the vid over, and over again, and shaking their heads, we try and use this information to arm ourselves, and even to debunk the MSM, like CNN, when they misrepresent something.
Here you get to see vids of C-130's tearing apart terrorist camps, and read about the arrests of hard core Islamist terrorists. It isn't all just Saddam hanging from a rope (which I didn't bother to watch, because I have that choice here, not at CNN) but also the vids with schools being built, and other good things that CNN wouldn't report on if they were paid (because news IS what they get paid for, and they don't report it, so case closed)
I hope this small effort answers your questions. They were fair to a point, and I can see where someone who hadn't measured the difference wouldn't catch it without an explanation.
It's still ugly to see our boys go down in flames, and I think I understand your distress.
USA, all the way!

But then the MS will turn around and show other propaganda like Juba that is inteneded to break your will and it is sanitized. Lacking the F*cking evil parts. It portrays Juba as a hero. I have 1/2 of juba II posted uncensored for reference.
We also scan the messages for emails. And unlike the MSM when we deterimine who a terrorist is guess what we do.... it sure as hell ain't "protect our source".
CNN is passive. You can be sitting in the beuty shop and see your boys shot passively. It's not good for the war effort and CNN never reported all the dragging the people out of the car and shooting them that IAIproduces.
We would like to win the war. If all te ihdai propaganda and tapes and websites were gone tomorrow we'd say yippie and just post boobs.
Just like the other day. I cut the chopper swap vid down a bit. Not because t ws too big I can upload 90 megs to google vid. But beacuse I wasn't too thrilled to show the rest of it (EID's bodys flying such and such). But mike the marine asked and I gave both the original and the copy. He wanted to try and debunk it. I won't keep it from you. I would be happy to have it dubunked. I would be happy if our intelligence boys were able to use the vid tofind these guys and take em out. The Army of Mujahadbeens that is.

Whateves guys. Just another reason for me to believe that Jawa Report is the stupidest place on the internet. Really... I mean it. I've never seen so many delusional people in one place. The fact that you are allowed to have guns is really fucking scary.
Posted by: John at February 10, 2007 11:02 AM (S3Rzh)
Bob caught you spewing bullshit and called you on it. Whining about it just makes you look like an even worse prick.
The notion that a left-wing hatemonger objects to foul language is hilarious, by the way. Next you'll claim to possess morals, and care about U.S. troops.
Fuck off back to whatever hole you crawled out of, shit-stain.

Give it up. Your hate America propaganda has already been exposed. Jawa uses film footage to highlight islamopithecine atrocities and educate its readers. CNN uses doctored footage to promote opposition to the Coalition's mission to aid Iraqis combat the terrorists.
Just because you take it up the ass, doesn't mean the rest of us are going to bend over. Your islamopithecine taqiyah is tiresome. You fool nobody.
Posted by: Jeff Bargholz at February 10, 2007 12:15 PM (Dt3sl)
You are one interesting guy. You have all the earmarkings of either a serial killer, or a nazi, or both. I can't really tell which, but one thing is for sure... you and Osama Bin Laden would get along swimmingly. Your delusional world view is one of the tightest I've ever seen on the internet. I just hope the cops get to you before you hurt anybody.
But by all means keep telling yourself that showing this video "helps" in some way. It's fun to play pretend.
And for the record... I've changed my mind about you and these other freaks going to Iraq. Thank fuck you aren't there, cuz all you'd do is make things worse. Christ... you could probably justify rape in the crazy head of your's.

I just don't have very many

Also CNN was running the thing for sale on their cable network so they'll show it for money. I don't get any of that so, lick me. If you don't want to see the vid that's fine. But there is a debate on arms and what kinds of arms are being used in Iraq that is relevant so screw you. If you don't want to see the vid don't effing click over here and watch it then.

Nice try at pretending to be an infidel. You're an islamopithecine piece of british shit, and none of your lies work on adults.
I really wish we could meet and discuss matters further, mighty islamopithecine warrior.
You don't know how lucky you are, pussywhip.

Howie, sometimes you just have to accept the scorn of people like 'John' for what it is ... In other words take the compliment
When you get ripped on, consider the source. If you are attacked by a "Giant Socialist Weasel" then it is the highest form of praise, and a badge of honor, no matter the weasels intentions.

Well first off, all those "death squads" roaming Iraq... they weren't there before the invasion. You helped create them, so a big fuck you for that.
Yeah... this mess is huge, and one that America can't make better. I see one way out. Bush and Cheney resign, state that they fucked up big time, BEG for peace in Iraq, and BEG the UN for help.
T'aint gonna happen, so I won't hold my breath, but those asswipes accepting responsibility is the only way out I see. Acting with that kind of honour might actually shame all of the parties to the peace talks table, and the UN won't be such a target as Americans. Of course... this means internationals putting their lives on the line for your fuck ups, but whatever. We all have to clean up after retards every now and again don't we?
Now as for good judgement... clearly this is something you do not have, since everything you say is wrong. You were wrong about the war, you're wrong about global warming, and you are wrong about guns. You seem to think everything can be solved with guns... hence the reason your civilizaton is going to shit.
You want to prevent carjackings... help those guys when they're kids. Don't wait till they're adults and then shoot em in the face.
Anyhoo... I don't care. I don't live down there. You retards do what you want. America is like Rome in 40 AD. Good luck with that.
Posted by: John at February 12, 2007 11:48 AM (S3Rzh)
Nobody in America is forcing death squads to roam Iraq, although leftist scum like you definitely support them.
Of course a maggot like you thinks it would be better if Bush surrenderd to the terrorists, called in the Umma Nations, and resigned. Scumbag.
Retards like you know the terrorists don't negotiate--not that making concessions to them is the answer--but you don't care what happens in Iraq and the world so long as Bush is seen as a failure.
Our civilization doesn't allow dirty old men to butt-ram 16 year old boys, or for islamopithecines to gang rape women. House music and ecstasy are not the main cultural pursuits, we do not have national speech codes, we are not prohibited from stepping on Hizb' allah flags, we do not have an astronomical crime rate, and we do not allow minors to terrorize the adult population with impunity.
Your civilization is going to shit precisely because of your suicidal, mindless, political correctness. Idiots like you think that no problem can be solved with guns--hence, your rampant crime.
Car jackers shoot car owners in the face--they are not shot in the face by police. I wish they were. More welfare produces more criminals--like your chavs, shit for brains.
You're just another loser envious of America's success. We outperform you, and it pisses you off. Instead of whining about it like a little bitch, try to accomplish something worthwhile, you contemptible bigot.
