Think We Have Nothing to Learn from a Water Buffalo?

Think again. If you've ever wondered what might happen if a herd of prey refused to go along with the script...

5 Too bad they didn't have enough sense or balls to save the calf.

7 Those are Cape Buffalo, not a water buffalo; i.e., more of a land based creature not prone to algae munching like you would think of a water buffalo.  Absolutely ferocious creatures that know how to throw mass around.  Bad tempered bastards.  Those lions are very lucky not to have stomped into cat-jam.  While intertubes-types like Glenn Reynolds like to talk about "A pack, not a herd", sometimes the herd does just fine.

8 I was just waiting until someone yelled those are Cape Buffalo not water buffalo. Must correct those errors.  Just have to.

10 Pretty awesome video.  I've seen stuff like that in real life, but nothing quite so dramatic.  I got stuck smack dab in the middle of a herd of African water buffalo a few years back in Kenya.  I was in a little japanese pickup which they could have demolished if they'd charged me.  There were small calfs, and the females were becoming mighty nervous, but there was no way forward nor backwards.  I was stuck!  Pretty darn scary.
