Jedi's Demand Recognition: 4th Largest 'Religion' in the UK

Geeks, nerds, dweebs, and other social outcasts of the world are demanding that their 'religion' be taken seriously. That religion? Jedi Knight.

I. Kid. You. Freaking. Not.

That, according to an article in the UK's Daily Mail today. It also claims that:

390,000 people in the UK belong to the religion of 'Jedi Knights'. There are also an estimated 70,000 Jedi knights in Australia, 53,000 in New Zealand and 20,000 in Canada.

Numbers for how many Jedi living in the U.S. were not available, but rumor has it that more Americans think of themselves as Sith than Jedi. Hey, we're just trying to bring order to a chaotic universe!

Actual. Freaking. Quote.

We therefore are calling upon the United Nations Association to change November 16 to the UN Interstellar Day of Tolerance, to reflect the religious make-up of our twenty-first century civilisation.

‘Tolerance is about respecting difference where ever it lies, including other galaxies. Please don't exclude us from your important work. May the Force be with you.’

May the Force be with you too. And may it lead you out of your parent's basement and may you finally get laid!

Hat tip Hauke, who also finds this in the comments:

"I would bet there are more TREKKIES out there - what about OUR relgion? What about OUR basic human rights? We've suffered more, and longer, than those Star Wars nerds! We've been Geeky since the 60's! When is OUR day coming?
Star Trek geeks vs. Star Wars geeks? I feel a civil war brewing.......

UPDATE Bonus: Video! Including retard speaking Wookie, and loser 'translating'!!!!!!!

1 Jedi =
"Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
Jedi use their powers to defend and protect, never to attack others.
Jedi respect all life, in any form.
Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training. "

So maybe they could take care of the Islamofascists and bring peace to the galaxy?

Because we can't get the UN to realize that the prime directive (Star FleetGeneral order #1) doesn't apply to IslamoBorgs.

When the Jedi are murdered from within, when their best hope gets assimilated by IslamoBorgs, There is always Star Fleet General Order 24.

"General Order #24 - If a commanding officer deems that an individual or group of individuals pose a threat to Starfleet personnel or Federation civilians, he may order the total destruction of a planet's surface"

In other words, if they want a fight, then we destroy what constitutes their world. That should restore peace ... and we don't even need a whole death star, we could just do it with a regular warship. Sweet huh?

Later on, the one or two Jedi survivors who come out of hiding, can help the new republic guard peace again. JarJar can pretend to be Kofi Anan, and we can go back to playing video games and watching SciFi reruns. Till next episode ...

USA all the way!

2 Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.

3 Jedi Crusade against the Picard Jihad?

What's funny is that the Jedi religion started off as just a joke and it spiraled from there.

4 It wouldn't be civil.  Not at all.

On the other hand, my 10 year old recently found a mod for Elite Force that has him as a battlebot, fighting Borg in Helm's Deep.  I kid you not.

5 The number in America is easy, since Americans tend to be followers of the Sith, there are only 2.

The Jedi Knight's should know this as it was there wise master Yodi who said, "always two there must be, no more, no less."

6 "Jedi", a derivative of "Jedidiah" - Hebrew meaning "Hand of God" according to some name dictionaries.

I read a few years back, during the last census taking, people throughout the US and UK were claiming Jedi as their religion.. but no one took them seriously.

But we are out there, nonetheless.

I am "officially" Christian, so I cannot claim Jedi, as much as I would like to.

12 There's wishful thinking and then there's ... something else.  Lunacy, we might say, but who's to say that in 200 years Jedi won't be the number one religion in the world.  Good God, what am I saying?

13 Take that pussy-ass Jedi crap outside.  Y'all in the Sith house, now, G:

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

14 So when are these UK Jedis going to take care of the Jawas in England?

Posted by: Greyrooster at November 17, 2006 02:15 AM (R6qo5)

15 Jeep Thang's right.  It started (I believe) with the UK's 2001
census in protest for having so few options to check when religious
affiliation was asked.  I guess some took it more seriously than
others ;-).  Nationality was calculated myopically too.  The
UK isn't just England.  It's also comprised of Scotland, Wales and
N. Ireland.  A friend of mine there was ticked off because those
from Wales had to write it in under "other".

And Ragnar, I believe it goes like this:

"Fear leads to anger ... anger leads to stress ... stress leads to doobies ...and doobies lead to twinkies."

17 In Britain, those movie critics who slammed the recent Star Wars trilogy could be brought up on charges for insulting religion.  This is getting awesome!

18 "What's funny is that the Jedi religion started off as just a joke and it spiraled from there"

I'm pretty sure the same could be said for Chrisitianity, Islam...etc

19 The Jedi couldn't even see a coup de tat from within their ranks, and they had psionic and telepathic powers as WELL as precognition.

Go ahead, join the incompetent squad if you must. So long as you change Lucas' script.

Fear leads to anger, anger leads to power, and power unchains you from your limitations.

Right on Ragnar, Sith all the way.
