Planned Outrages

Hi everyone.

This server will be going offline for up to two hours on Tuesday 21 November, between 5am and 7am CST, while our hosting company works on their power distribution.

Also, I have now transferred all DNS functions away from our old hosting company to the new servers. I think some people are still having problems with our old DNS setup, and hopefully this will fix that. There was a brief glitch while I was setting this up, and if you caught that glitch you might not be able to reach the comments system (which has its own IP address) for a couple of hours, but after that it should automatically resolve itself.

Breaking the Blog Sabbath

I'm working today anyway, so the Sabbath is out the door. Besides, I'm stuck in front of a computer that doesn't have the stats program I've been using. So, in addition to working, I'm not getting anything done!

Some 'vacation' this is turning out to be.

So, I beg forgiveness to the Lord of Blogs for breaking the 4th commandment....

New Comments Thingy

Hi everyone!

I know the comments have been painfully slow since we moved to the new server to escape the DDOS attacks, but a cure is now at hand!

Simply click on the New Comment Thingy*. It will process your comments, zip zip, no waiting. If you have any problems with it, leave a note in the old comment thingy.

The two comment systems work together, so comments written using one system can be read in the other. Once we're happy with the new system, we'll take the old, creaky, spam-ridden system away, but until then you can use either one.

Enjoy!

P.S. It kind of insists on an email address, but doesn't actually say so. That will get fixed.
