Press Bias Poll: 'Well, Duh'

A new Zogby poll on press bias yields the expected results:

83 percent of likely voters think bias is "alive and well." Of that number, 64 percent said the press leans left, while slightly more than a quarter -- 28 percent -- said there was a conservative bias.

Naturally, there's a partisan divide, and a pronounced one. Among Republican respondents, 97 percent said the press was liberal. Two-thirds of political independents agreed with them, with less than a quarter of the independents -- 23 percent -- saying there was a conservative bias.

The only real surprise here is that a full 28% of Americans suffer from mental retardation and/or pathological dishonesty.

1 you what i think is magical about that? despite all this furor over the press being biased towards the left, there will STILL be fox news reporting whatever the hell it feels like. and there will STILL be more and more conservative guests on cnn and msnbc and the like, just to counter this claim.

the numbers have already shown that the press leans right

but that doesn't matter. again its what you ACTUALLY report that makes it's way into the public consciousness, and the right has done an Excellent job of it. i commend you all. you have soundly beaten the democrats. Hillary's support is at an all time low barack would be gone after more viciously if he weren't so black and the republican candidates are looking better and better. you guys have totally owned the media.

i know when you have won. now all i can do is resort to petty attacks on right wing blogs on the internet, especially since my vote doesn't matter.

and the sad part is, im totally serious, except maybe that last part. i'm just doing it because its fun. especially to see you all in a tizzy. you realize there are plenty of right wing guys who do the same, yes?

2 the numbers have already shown that the press leans right

The numbers show nothing of the kind. If the press leans so right, then why is it that you Leftards only whine about FOX? How come nothing about CNN, NYTimes, NPR, etc etc etc etc etc etc. etc. etc. Hmmm??? The answer is because you have no problem with all those other outlets because they don't offend your ears the way FOX does. And they don't offend your Leftard ears precisely because they are biased left.

Gee Jake, maybe Republican candidates look better and better because they're, well, better candidates?!

4 i don't watch any of those because they are too busy pandering to the right wing medias label of them being left wing.

NPR is just that. national public radio. but to balance it you all have rush Limbaugh's, and hannity's radio show. and billo's radio show and Micheal savage. NY times is just that. but to counter you have the new york post, the washington times. the WSJ op-ed page and others. cnn is not biased towards the left by any means. how many liberal "commentators" do they have? how many conservative "commentators do they have?

i know you loathe media matters, but they Actually do cover other networks than fox. for example, CNN

really, i do think that you overplay the issue to apoint that it becomes self fulfilling.

also, go look up the numbers before you refute them.

and, when i admit that you've won, don't continue arguing. t's bad form

remember, the media decides who's president.

NPR is just that. national public radio.

Simply brilliant.

You convinced me.

7 "remember, the media decides who's president." - That's what's aggravated the lefty bias; the media were thwarted in 2000 and 2004.

So what is it "Jake"? Retard or pathological liar?

8 barak is black? no... he's white.... no he's both.... so how does that stand? Maybe it's because he panders and that's what people really don't care for. NPR is just that, a national public system. The market is what supports conservative radio, not the tax dollars. If liberal radio could support itself, it would but that hasn't really come to fruition has it? And rather than see that reality, there's an excuse mentality that says " we need to be left in npr because of how well Rush does" Are we to believe that if Rush were to go the way of al frankin that npr would switch formats? This is typical, deny reality and then run with it. shehan is a perfect example. That's all I've got to say about trying to teach a pig to sing.

9 "The only real surprise here is that a full 28% of Americans suffer from mental retardation and/or pathological dishonesty."

Says you. Remember, according to South Park 25% of all people are retarded. This fits in nicely with that, as does Jake-ass up there at #1, #4, and #5 (Look everybody! It's a rrrrreeeetard!).

Leftards live in a world without time, where sound collides with color and shadows explode.

10 (25% retarded) + (3% high during the survey) = 28%

12 oh course, can i assume your logic in saying that the media is left wing and assume since you didn't address my other points you concede them?

"remember, the media decides who's president." - That's what's
aggravated the lefty bias; the media were thwarted in 2000 and 2004.

oooooor the media got the president it wanted. you sure have some circular logic there.

13 Definitely retarded. His mother was probably a crack whore.

Jake, I'd like to address your statement about people argueing with you, when you have already 'conceded'. You make a lot of rermarks in a few short sentences, and detailed refutation takes loger than just slinging accusations, then conceding. I for one, would like to see you show us your cards, so they can recieve proper consideration.

Once, I had decided it was to late to talk, and you lefties had such a stranglehold on the media, it would require physical action to remedy. I gave it all a second chance when Gore was shown (by multiple studies, and the Courts) to have lost. Gore was my line in the sand. He was going to screw with the Constitution, at the expense of the people, and I was sure the media would sugar coat it. I was not going to accept that.

Bush won, and set back the lefts agenda for long enough, I decided to re-enter the discussion. Despite what I see as undisputed liberal dominance of the MSM. You and I are possibly living examples of the theory I have regarding the next few years. When large groups within a society are so oppossed to each other, that no communication occurs between them, then there is only one possible result.

So Jake, maybe you could join us in keeping some kind of discussion going, and we can take a pass on the ugly alternative? Personally, I think there is more to you than you show us, and that puzzles me. Maybe I'm just confusing you with a friend I have with the same name. Maybe not. Either way, I think you can do better than to snipe, and dodge, when the discussion is so important.

Think about it ...

USA, all the way!

15 What I find really weird is that this is a Zogby poll. Usually they are the Democrat's go-to pollsters. But then they also seem to be a "buy your answer" kind of organization, they have provided a pro-creation (not procreation) survey for the Discovery Institute - an anti-evolution organization. So it raises the question: who bought this study? If it was left-wing media organizations they did not get their money's worth and it might show that Zogby is growing some integrity. Otherwise it is not that interesting.

16 Fox News is not Right. Fox News is 'fair and balanced'. It only looks Right, because all of the others are unfair and unbalanced. It's a shock to see what balance looks like. There is no 'Right' major national news outlet. If we had that, we'd have heads exploding on both coasts.
