Oops! AP Did It Again?

LGF is hot on the trail of an AP stringer Maamoun Youseff story about a Blackwater helicopter being shot down and its passengers being shot "execution style."

They appear to be weasling out of that original report of an "execution style" shooting, claiming that those reports "could not be verified."

Interesting. Jamil XX (GGG) Hussein's stories, though, don't have to be verified. Its Jamil XX (GGG) Hussein, after all.

Stay tuned for further developments.

1 The five victims were found with bullets to the head Good lt. How stupid can you be?

2 I have a fairly good real media copy of two of the bodies.  One has a hole in the back of  his head near that top that does appear to be a gunshot wound.  It does appear matted at first but for a few frames it is clear enough to see.

Sammy, what is your source for five head shots? Could it be, oh, I don't know, the very article which Good Lt is now challenging?

Let me guess, when the right wing challenged the "4 destroyed mosques and six burning sunnis" story, you said "the six sunnis were burned alive, Good Lt. How stupid can you be?"

The story may very well be true in this case.  The God Lt is simply pointing out that the original claim has not been substantiated, and subsequent articles are omitting the rather inflammatory detail.  However, given prior history, this may indicate that the "six executions" report is false.

I'm amazed Sammy is capable of breathing and  typing at the same time!

5 bah, "Good Lt" not "God Lt", and "five" not "six executions. My brain is melting....

6 In addition, I have seen video to suggest (as has Howie) some of the bodies have holes in their heads - how those holes got there is unclear, since there is no footage of them being killed.

I personally think the AP put that "hasn't been verified" clause in there for CYA purposes if it turns out to be an exaggeration or incorrect.

Of course, they could've just called Jamil Hussein and verifed it - he works all over the region and his stories are instantly verifiable...

7 Laguna's brother released a detailed account.  He was flying one of the other choppers.  I did not post on that one but if anyine has the link I think it would be useful.  It's buried under google pollution.

9 I tend to think that if any were alive they were killed.  Shot abused.  Maybe not execution style but what style is that?.  I've seen a bunch and they run the gambit from the traditional one shot ot the head to just spraying the victims with AKs.  Seems like a matter of he said she said to me and not very relevant.  If they were dead they would shoot and abuse the corpses anyway.  One of my cube nieghbors suggested the hole might have been an exit wound.  Hard to tell. One of the passengers was shot while the chopper was in the air and if the shot entered under the chin it could make an exit wound  on top of the head like that.

10 Okay, I give. What does the XX (GGG) with Jamil's name mean? No snark, I just don't get it.

11 Well, the AP and other sources have given numerous pseudonymns to Jamil Hussein. there is also an issue of Arab naming, in which many people in any given area can have the same name spelled different ways, or the same names spelled the same way.

This acronym is meant to cover the reported variations in Jamil's name.

12 Gotcha. So it's like using wildcards in a search.
Thanx.
