Lawrence O'Donnell Blatantly Lies on National Television

Either that, or he's just completely ignorant of firearms and the law. He repeats the well-worn lies that :

1. The VT shooter was wielding "automatic" weapons and

2. The Scary-Looking Rifles Ban prohibited the sale of "high-capacity" magazines.

Allah has the video.

Why does an idiot like that get a spot on McLaughlin?

1 My guess is he's completely ignorant of firearms and the law.

Most libs are.  They repeatedly insist that semi-auto handguns are AUTOMATIC and that AR-15s are FULL AUTO M16s.

They're clueless.

Cigarrettes and pizza and other cholestoral pumping foods kill far more people than guns and they're not rushing to outlaw them.  People smoke too much, people eat too much cholestoral loaded foods.

Cars don't kill people...people kill people.

2   One possible source of confussion. Pistols are often called automatics because they automatically feed the next round. That is why the Colt is called the Colt .45 Automatic Pistol. In pistols automatic can refer to the feeding mechanism, not how it fires. Both the .45 and .380 are ACP rounds. ACP stands for Automatic Colt Pistol. Generally refered to as Auto for short.

In rifles the term automatic only refers to how it fires.

Granted I believe that O'Donnell meant automatic as in how they fire, not how they are fed. As I don't think he knows enough about firearms to know the difference and meant it in the worst possible light.

4 Waste  makes some good points. Lots of gun haters don't even care about the details, as long as they can push thier agenda, so I suspect they have no problem with intentionally confusing the issue.
             USA, all the way!

5 I would love to see a poll on gun control which actually asks whether the person has actually fired a gun before.  Simply holding and looking at it doesn't get rid of the irrational fear of guns.  Anyone who actually loads and empties a magazine will recognize that guns are not inherently evil.

But I guess the "reality" of guns doesn't matter to the "reality based" community.
