Apparently not content to let the U.S. do a self-immolation act in the Middle East by itself, Israel decided to set itself on fire by invading Lebanon. Burn baby burn? Like George Bush, Israel's Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, never served in a combat unit and launched military operations without thinking the matter through. In fact, Olmert reportedly never even served in the military. . .As LGF points out, Johnson is either ignorant of or lying about Olmert's military service. Olmert served in a combat unit and incurred substantial injuries in the process. (Apparently more severe than John Kerry's.)Killing "terrorists" has a place in policy but it is not a strategic military obective. It is a tactical objective and may serve political purposes, but achieves little in terms of securing Israel. Israel is attacking targets in Lebanon like a drunken sailor in a bar fight. Flailing about, causing significant damage, hitting innocent bystanders, and generally making a mess of things. . . .
What about Hamas and Hezbollah?
They are not terrorists. They carry out terrorist attacks, but they are not terrorists. . . .
As to the second point, only time will tell whether the IDF went into Lebanon with a plan for success against Hib'Allah or merely went in to "flail about" like a "drunken sailor". My guess is that the Israelis went in with a detailed, thoroughly thought out plan, and that the plan will be carried out with all the efficiency and effectiveness we've come to expect from the IDF. Whether this operation achieves Israel's long-term strategic objectives, only time will tell.
As for how one can "engage in terrorist attacks" and yet not be a "terrorist", that logic completely escapes me. Perhaps someone could explain that to me.

He said {paraphrased} "Oh no, Israel's had this response operation planned for five years"
At which point the news babe did a visible double-take and said "five years?"
He then laid out how Hizzbolah had been moving into the area once Israel left, how Lebannon failed to move troops in, and that Hizzbolah had 10-13,000 rockets in place with 100 or so longer range ones, so Israel's known for a long time that this fight was coming.
He concluded with {paraphrased}'every target being hit is for a precise reason according to the operational plan developed over five years - this isn't tit-for-tat retaliation based on what the rockets fired into Israel hit.'
Which, you know, makes more sense than what Larry's saying.

Also according to Howie, the bible says pick on the Jews. Ha, ha.
They will lose. But fighting Israel is the meaning of their existence. Why is that terrorism? They are fighting with the same weapons that everyone else uses.
The Jews made a bad mistake letting them grow to what they are. Should have nipped them in the bud years ago. Unless that is what Israel wanted all along.
Is this an excuse to hand Syria its hat? To me it is. Syria shouldn't even have a infastucture after this. Give them the big message now. In fact, perhaps, we should send the Marines into Syria. Thats what we are good at. No police work. I don't think the mad moolas in Iran will do anything. Common sense will tell them they fought Iraq for years and couldn't win. We whipped them in 3 days.
Just my opinion. I'm sure all-seeing-eyeidot has another.

From a Lebanese blogger:
"Did you ever see on TV all these Hezbollah units that parade in Beirut’s Southern suburb on Ashura and make the fascist salute to Nasrallah? You know, those who wear great dyanamite belts and have cardboard RPGs? Well it seems that God occulted all these mighty fighters overnight. They just vanished. Nobody knows where they are."

They could give them back the West Bank tomorrow, there will not be peace, the Arabs have made their goal clear: Palestine from the river to the sea, total destruction of Israel. It's time to reconsider if the "roadmap" is worth it.

On that basis, they are FUCKED.
What they at one time despise, so they soon become.
That's what I love about liberals.

The settlers resisted abandoning their homes and farms on previous occasions. No such squawk this time. I thought they were oddly silent.
Internationally? The Palestinians had a homeland, and only had to organize themselves. They did not. (So, what would they do if they actually destroyed Israel? Make their own country? Not by what we have seen so far, they have proven themselves a pack of pathetic losers.) The US is closing in on the money flow so the Saudis cannot slip them some extra dollars without risk of exposure. Syria knows they could end up with an involuntary regime change if they get too obvious, and that the days of plausible deniability of a bunch of "volunteers on leave" turning the tide of battle are long gone as they would now have to bring expensive and high tech weapons with them. Traceable weapons.
Syria is despicable, but not insane. Iran is run by nut cases, but they do not border on the scene of action, so their support is limited.
This was a beautiful trap that could only work on the nutcases in Palestine. Suckered good and proper.

Besides capturing the soldiers & shooting the warship, pretty much everything notable Hezbollah has done in the past 25 years qualifies as "terrorism" in my book. Most recently, raining 1,000 missiles down on cities & towns just to scare civilians is textbook "terrorism".
Hizb'Allah is definitely a "terrorist" group. ALways has been, likely always will be.
