1 I liked his works "Starship Troopers" and "Puppet Masters".
But I don't agree with his philosophy of ethics.
Myself, I cann't imagine "correct" ethics without belief in the Supremacy of the Almighty.

[Incidentally, the God that I believe in doesn't have to bribe me with promises of 72 virgins and such. His grace alone suffices me in both this world and the next.]

2 I grew up reading and loving the Heinlein books.

3 His short story "Requiem" should be required reading for anyone who does not understand the ideals that move our military personnel.  Written in flashback, it demonstrates the dedication, ideals, honor, love and selflessness that make a difference.

4 From the same movie ...  Johnny Rico: Someone asked me once if I knew the difference between a civilian and a citizen. I know now. A citizen has the courage to make the safety of the human race their personal responsibility!

6 Jean Rasczak: When you vote, you are exercising political authority, you're using force. And force my friends is violence. The supreme authority from which all other authorities are derived.                                           USA, all the way!

7 While I agree with the premise of Citizenship and Duty; I believe that God is the Supreme Authority from which all just authorities flow.
Indeed, and please correct me if I'm wrong, the oath of allegiance in your country does invoke the Name of the Almighty; does it not?
And would it not be fair to say that the spirit of Citizenship and Duty flow from the spirit of that oath?

Sorry, I don't mind to sound preachy. I'm just a moralist.

8 Garduneh Mehr, you are also wise.
"God shed his grace on thee"   I'm there.  Honestly, God is the most powerful force in any case. Having given us free will, he has left us to make responsable choices, and he has also left us responsability to protect ourselves, and the gifts he gave us.  Whether you believe in God or not, a wolf will likely eat you if you are not strong enough to kill it. Likewise a tyrant will enslave you if you are not strong enough to disuade him. Likewise, self destructive, delusional hedonists will drag you down with them, if you do not break thier grip upon you. God helps those who honor him, by helping themselves in the first place. it builds our character

9 As for my desire to uphold free expression, I don't get mad at people for leaving out the "under God" part of the pledge. God can sort that out with them later if he chooses. I do get mad when they won't even make the Atheists version of the Pledge, yet try to call themselves US citizens.                        USA, all the way!
