It's the Cow Farts, Stupid

A new United Nations report blames cattle and other livestock for greenhouse gas emissions

Meet the world's top destroyer of the environment. It is not the car, or the plane,or even George Bush: it is the cow.

A United Nations report has identified the world's rapidly growing herds of cattle as the greatest threat to the climate, forests and wildlife. And they are blamed for a host of other environmental crimes, from acid rain to the introduction of alien species, from producing deserts to creating dead zones in the oceans, from poisoning rivers and drinking water to destroying coral reefs.

Imagine, wild herbivores were running amok for milennia, destroying the environment and plotting in their evil little planteater brains to bring the world closer and closer to the brink of cataclysmic climate change.

Thank God Al Gore was born, in the nick of time, to warn us all.

Its not suprising you are going to try it out, i mean it was 20 years ago, people do forget these things, but come on....this was one of regean's classic stupid comments.

6 I always wondered why the warming alarmists didn't focus on anything besides Carbon Dioxide.  They say Methane is a lot worse than C02 as a greenhouse gas, but all I can ever remember hearing about all my life is CO2 emissions.

Probably because it is less likely to be able to blame everyone for methane than it is for CO2.

7 But it must be true, the UN published it.  Al Gore lied.

9 Hey...ya can't blame me...I am eating as much steak as possible.

They say Methane is a lot worse than C02 as a greenhouse gas, but all I
can ever remember hearing about all my life is CO2 emissions.

You may have just come up with the perfect job for liberals. They can stand by the ass of a cow with a Bic lighter.Do it for mother earth you leftist assholes.

10 The far right goes deeper and deeper into it's own dellusional 4th-dimensional reality, something the early astro-physicists would be happy to see.
While string theories and Einsteinian gravity pulls the far right into it's own black hole, the rest of the world goes on.
As enertaining as they are, with the anti-fact rants of cows, Hillary and terror...most people see this for what it is.
A desparate and feeble attempt to validate an ideology that died a horrible death, in a galaxy far far away.

11 Hey Joe,
Hint : when writing something that we're supposed to view in awe, try the following:

Do not write transparent pseudo intellectual gibberish.

Spell the words 'delusional' 'entertaining' and 'desperate' correctly while addressing subjects such as 'string theory' and 'black holes'

Thanks.

16 Doesnt mother earth produce more methane than all of the livestock combined on earth (not including wild animals too)? This is junk science, really just based on a warm fuzzy feeling that they think they are doing something right.

17 This is actually pretty old news (this phenomenon not the UN report), and it used to be called "Cow Burps".  Here's an article on CNN.com (yeah, I know, they do provide some references at the  bottom though...) from 2000 talking about cow burps, however the theory has been around much longer than that:

http://archives.cnn.com/2000/NATURE/07/21/cow.methane.enn/index.html

From the article:

"A typical cow burps about 280 liters of methane each day. Researchers
have discovered that the amount of methane produced by a cow varies
dramatically according to the quality of its diet."

"Cows, which have doubled in population in the last 40 years to an
estimated 1.3 billion worldwide, produce one pound of methane for every
two pounds of meat that they yield. Methane is 25 times more potent
than carbon dioxide in contributing to global warming."

If this is the case, then even reverting to a pre-industrial society as some of the "environmentalists" would essentially have us do would likely not prevent a warming/cooling/climate trend-du-jour from occurring, though it would happen at a much slower rate than they are forecasting.  Perhaps they would then advocate killing all the cows, but then we'd be eating their meat and producing our own methane, and then what comes next I ask you?...

18 Wow. It's a good thing the endless waves of buffalo herds in the Great Plains and the Asain steppes have been wiped out. We came close to the end of Winter.

Is canuck still a fag "wholive" with his mom? If anyone wants to save Winter, it's a Canadian.

21 Responding to Joe ...

In the real world everything exists in four dimensions anyway. Length, breadth, depth, and duration. If you remove any one of these, you radically alter the space we live in. Some people dismiss the existence of the 'fourth' demension, but see how long you will last without it (chortle)!

Those on the right can percieve time relationships better than those on the left. The left never thinks about consequences, but only their self satisfaction for the current moment.

Thank goodness you have the 'right' to plan ahead for you.

USA, all the way!
