Israel Bombs Beirut Airport, Imposes Blockade

(Beirut, Lebanon) Israeli Air Force jets bombed holes into the runways of Beirut International Airport, forcing officials to close the facility.

From ITV.com:

Lebanese security sources said at least six rockets were fired at runways and a nearby road, forcing flights to divert to Cyprus.

The terminal building and planes were not hit and it was not immediately clear how badly the raid had damaged the runways but the airport is now closed.

According to a report from the Bahrain News Agency, Israel Radio announced today that the IDF has imposed a sea, land, and aviation blockade on Lebanon until further notice. Israel intends to choke off weapons supplies to Hezbollah, which are believed to be supplied by Iran via Syria. Consequently, I'd assume that the current conflict will quickly expand beyond Lebanon to Syria.

3 Bet the terrorists didn't see this coming, striking at the heart of the problem. Only way to do it, spray the nests until they are uninhabitable, then pick off the roaches as they run for cover.

4 Violence is the only language that these people understand. Terrorist states need to realise that certain actions have real and dangerous consequences. Go get 'em Israel.

5 Why is Israel punishing the MODERATE Lebanese government? And greyrooster, that was un-called for. Just because France allows immigration and cultural diversity just like our country doesn't mean you can make fun of them. Have you looked at the USA Basketball team?

6 You people are knuckle-dragging Neanderthals! I looked up the bombing of the Beirut airport and this is what I find!? I doubt any of you are in the military--you choose to let others do Bush's dirty work. And I agree with the first Dude--why is Israel going after a more moderate middle eastern country? Yes, yes, Hezbollah. Okay, but Hezbollah is holding some Israeli soldiers hostage--so Israel's "rational" response is to start bombing Lebanon? Has the Israeli government completely lost it? This is their idea of diplomacy? My God people!! Do you even know what I'm talking about or are you such arm chair war mongers that you can't see straight? Watch much Fox news lately? That stuff will rot your little brains. Oh yeah--and "greyrooster," how's that white supremacy thing working for you?

7 The Israeli Government is doing the right thing. Has diplomacy ever worked with muslim terrorists? Should Israel allow the bombing of its civilians and kidnapping of its soldiers almost everyday?
So far, Diplomacy has failed in West Asia Vis-a Vis Israel. They want to wipe out Israel.

Will you negotiate with people who are out to kill you. Negotiation in that case will become another term called "Pleading for mercy".

Any self respecting nation will never allow such cowardice for the sake of peace.

Peace attained through submission is worse than a gangrape.

Israel should set up a buffer zone by weakening the Hezbollah infested Lebanon militarily and economically.
Their next target should be Syria and Iran. Israel should be ready to nuke all of West Asia if the violence threatens its existence. The scale of violence and suffering that ensues should make Syria, Iran and the Muslim world yearn for some peace.

Keep it up Israel, destroy their dens and destroy their peace. Let peace become a costly commodity to these fanatics so that they appreciate the value of long lasting peace.

8 You call yourself a citizen of the world yet you want Israel to nuke Iran, Syria and "West Asia?"
It sounds to me like you are the extremist, you are the one who wants so much bloodshed, and I think you are one very sick individual (unless you're just being sarcastic...any chance of that? A dude can only hope). Where will you be, oh "citizen of the world," when thousands, perhaps millions, die? Comfortable, safe, hiding in your first world country? You need professional help. I think a lot of you need professional help. And what will happen to Israel while it's "nuking" all of its neighbors? You assume that the US will come to its aid. I sure as hell am not willing to pay for any of that crap.
