ISI Video: Missing Hostage ID's

alfurqanussoldiersid.jpg
The a-Furqan media, a propaganda outlet for the al-Qaeda front a group The Islamic State of Iraq, has released a video that claims to contain the ID cards and personal effects of of Spc. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence, Mass., and Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Mich.

Via Laura Mansfield: The Islamic State of Iraq Monday has released a video of the military identification cards of two missing American soldiers. There was no indication in the video whether the two soldiers are dead or alive, and there were no demands set for their release.

The video included a still image of the photo identifications of Spc. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence, Mass., and Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Mich.

Above the photos, written in Arabic, was the message, "Bush is the reason for the loss of your prisoners."

The amount of time that has passed of the presentation reflects the pressure the search for the missing men has put on al-Qaeda. Jihadi supporters have been screaming for a snuff film of these men, I'm glad to report they are sorely disappointed.

ABC’s The Blotter has a short segment of the video here. Laura has a complete copy available for download here.

Vicki no Veil has more here.

Update, Laura has completed intial analysis of the video. No proof is given that these men are alive or dead. She says,

"In short, there is no credible indication from this video of the fate of these two soldiers other than the claims of a jihadist group.

History has shown us that these groups can and do lie.

Update II: Save Laura's bandwidth, Video added below the fold.

You all need to control all the emotional and quit reacting the way terrorists want and expect you to react.  Do NOT give them the satisfaction.  The entire Iraq fiasco is being played according to Bin Laden's script - AND WE ALLOW IT TO CONTINUE!!!

Read Raimondo and get some perspective on what is really going on and how we need to focus on America first for once.

2 Bo:

A site called "antiwar" is not exactly a conservative site, now is it?  It's a wack-job fringe website, with moral idiots like you who promote it.

You and Ron Paul can go **** yourselves and leave the hard work up to our troops.

3 Richard,

Asside from the profanities, the difference between people like you and me is rather straight forward:  you still blindly believe this thing is "winnable" whereas I see the war as essencially lost and everything now is playing into jihadist hands.

Maybe for some people like you there are no lost causes, but for people like me who live in the real world, if you do not make adjustments you end up with a situation not unlike what General Paulus and the German 6th army faced in Stalingrad :-(

ps: since when do you have to be "pro-war" to be conservative?  Did you establish this criteria?  It is patently false.

According to a militant video released on Monday, three soldiers who went missing last month have been killed.

The
video offered no proof, only a close up of identification cards of two
of the soldiers who were allegedly ambushed by insurgents. A voice on
the tape blamed the soldiers' deaths on the American Army and its
leaders.

if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document.write('');if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']){ document.write(plpm['Mid-Story Ad']);} else { if(self['plurp'] && plurp['97']){} else {document.write(''); } }if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document.write('');

The
body of one of the missing soldiers was later found in Iraq's Euphrates
River, but the other two remain missing. Family and friends of the
missing men were made aware of the video and its claims over the
weekend.

9 That part in the middle is a photo- sorry about that.

10 Another article states that ISI promised a full video today sometime.  I pray it is not what I think.

11 Bo:

Blah, blah, blah...yap, yap, yap.  Have you paid close attention to those idiots who support the risible Ron Paul?

You moron, open your eyes!

12 They are dead despite what the fat retard Mansfield said. Their deaths were inevitable.

13 And quit deleting my posts.

14 Richard,

Ron Paul does not have a monopoly on idiot supporters by any stretch.

15 Vietnam is the classic example of how you can win every battle, but lose a War. I am often told about America's defeat in Vietnam -- but no one can even tell me the name of three major battles that American forces lost militarily. The Tet offensive which was crowed as a major defeat for the U.S, completely destroyed the ability for the Viet Cong to engage the U.S in any number for the rest of the War.
It is often the noise machine coming from the Left that rewrites history, for example in regards to Japan: "We didn't need to drop a Nuclear bomb on Japan to end the War" You're right. We needed to drop TWO Nuclear bombs on Japan and threaten to drop a third to end the War.
It gets a little old to hear the same meme in regards to Iraq now.

16 Three major battles?  Hell, we didn't lose even one.

Posted by: CRT at June 04, 2007 05:47 PM (ZLtkq)

17 It's easy to lose a war if you have enough lefturds in your country.

I do believe that our military needs to be taught to fight it out. Being taken prisoner only makes their suffering worse.

18 Just to record my thoughts.  I imagine these men have been killed.  The lack of a snuff video or the discovery or return of the bodies just reflects the fact that the ISI is not operating in a friendly environment any more.  ID cards are easy to smuggle around.  Open killings and dragging bodies in the street are less so.  If they could have they would have.

Posted by: Howie at June 05, 2007 02:37 PM (YHZAl)

19 Howie:
I don't believe it means anything of the sort: The ISI were able to shoot an American Soldier and drag his body to the Euphrates with no problem just last week. I think the ISI have released this video hoping that it will make the U.S Military call off the search with them claiming that the soldiers were killed. If they photographed the cards they could also photograph or film the bodies. I don't think the final chapter to this incident has unfolded at all.

20 They are DEAD. Joseph Anzack was captured along with his two friends. He was not some soldier shot in battle and dragged into a river. He was held for a few days, tortured and then shot in the head twice and dumped in a river. If the other two soldiers were alive, they would have shown up alive in the video. The two soldiers are clearly dead. Captured insurgents confessed that the three soldiers were captured alive. The 13 insurgents split into two, and one group took the three soldiers with them.

21 George Ramos just had a Dick Cheney moment, prematurely declaring a soldier dead.

Posted by: davec at June 05, 2007 07:05 PM (kcDpP)

22 Well the other recovered body is not in the video either so who knows?  My point is ID's and effects can be easily passed and/or faked to make this kind of propaganda.  I'm not saying there is no hope or that we should stop trying to find out what happened to them.  I do hope it ends in thier recovery one way or the other. But generally as a rule when they say they killed someone they did.  There have been exceptions. We'll see.

I hope Davec is right.

Posted by: Howie at June 05, 2007 10:05 PM (YHZAl)

23 We'll  probably never know the real story.  I just wonder why Anzack's body was left to be discovered if they are now claiming the bodies of the other two won't be turned over, in retaliation.  It is no fun for them if we don't get to see their handiwork.  It seems to me that the pressure must have been so great on these terrorists from the first few minutes of the capture that their plans had to be scrapped.  I just have this feeling that the men were so close to being discovered on more than one occasion that having three captives to deal with was too much.  Anzack was the first victim.    The kidnapping has resulted in so many arrests  and deaths of  insurgents  and the pressure is still on, although not as great.   I don't think they were expecting that.  Then there is the promise of a video showing the capture that so far has not transpired.  To torture the families?  To give hope for awhile only to release the video in a couple of weeks?   I remember that it took about a month last year for the release of the second Menchaca/Tucker video.  What gave us hope last year that the guys were already dead was the fact that there was not a snuff video.  And that proved to be the case.  I still think one of the most tragic parts of that event is that the families probably don't know that the men were already dead from the initial attack and did not die under torture.  No news organization bothered to investigate.  It is really the second video obtained by the Jawa Report that conclusively proved they were already dead before being mutilated.

Posted by: Sharm at June 05, 2007 10:19 PM (q51o4)

24 When I said hope, I meant already dead before torture.  I still hope our two men are still alive but tend to agree with Howie that if they say they were killed, then they were.

25 Shut up Davec. Michael Scott Speicher is dead. Forget about him. The ISI has no reason to lie about the two soldiers being dead. They are DEAD. Even if they did not capture them, they clearly are dead. They were either captured alive or killed in battle.

Dumbass.

Posted by: George Ramos at June 07, 2007 11:02 AM (TmLg9)

26 George:
That is the problem with people like you: "Forget about him"
The NSA satellite data of the crash site says he survived. The CIA have interviewed at least two Iraqi nationals that were imprisoned with Speicher. Saddam Hussein gave a pile of Iranian flesh, and a pre-Gulf War issue flight suit when asked to prove that he was deceased. The DoD adjusted his status from K.I.A to M.I.A in 2001 and paid his Widow retroactively his wages, even though she was remarried? seeing a pattern here?
People like you is what doomed Speicher to dying in an Iraqi prison.
"The ISI has no reason to lie about the two soldiers being dead."
Well other than the pressure of having whole Brigades of soldiers searching their AO for them, and raiding their safe houses as they're found I guess not, terrorists are always trustworthy on their word.
