The crAP

I was enjoying the article until this came along:

The militia has more fighters, weapons and sophistication today than it did in 2004, when it battled U.S. forces to a standstill in two strongholds, the Shiite holy city of Najaf and Sadr City, Baghdad's sprawling Shiite slum.

Uh...they hid in mosques, which we refused to attack. Hardly "battling to a standstill."

It's semantics, I know. But it's implied that we couldn't have kicked their asses if we wanted to, when the exact opposite it is true.

It got worse after that, and I won't quote anymore. But I am making crAP the official designation for the Associated Press at the Jawa Report, taking its place in history next to MargaReuterVille and Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey Press.

4 Those stringers (insurgent sympathizers) get these little digs through the 'crack team' of AP editors all the time. The editors eventually figure it out and will rewrite the article without a retraction or correction. Give it about 6 to 12 hours and then the re-write will occur.

5 QASSIM ABDUL-ZAHRA, Associated Press Writer

Just look at the name and that tells you all you need to know.

6 No worse than Geraldo on O'reilly saying that Saddam's bastard sons "proudly held the 101st off for four hours"  BS,  rules of engagement and fire restrictions kept them alive for four additional hours.  I hope these rules and restrictions are the ones Bush said in his speech last night will change.

7 How about AntiAmerican Press, or Associated Propaganda? crAP does hve a nice ring to it, though.

I haven't read an AP story in over ten years. Ever since I noticed the left-wing bias, paucity of facts, and unnamed sources in its stories were accepted by every major news outlet on the planet without question, I've refused to trust anything it prints. If I can spot outright lies in half its stories, I can only assume I'm missing the lies in the other half.

But hey, if you like generic news that panders to your hatred of America and neocons, you'll be glad to know that AP stories are ubiquitous in the Establishment Media. Orwell is rolling over in his grave.

8 With the Kurds doing most of the fighting for the Iraqi Army in Baghdad now, expect to see many stories from the AP about the atrocities carried out by the Kurds while fighting Shiite militias. I would expect nothing less from either of them. The Kurds should have been put in charge of security in Iraq a long time ago.
