Mukhtar: The people of Fallujah, now they know the truth of the terrorists, the mujahadeen. Now they know that these people are not working for Fallujah; no, they are working against the people here. So they've changed their minds, all of their thinking about the terrorists. Fallujah was a city of peace for a long time. It's the “city of mosques†and all the people are peaceful, hard workers. So, Iraqis slowly losing faith in the "blood for oil" theory, yet the American Left continues to cling to it.INDC: Why was there so much conflict with the Americans initially?
Mukhtar: We thought America wanted to steal Iraq. And from our perspective as Muslims, you should fight against thieves. And all the people around the world ... it's the same in America ... if Iraq went to America to take America, all the people would fight against Iraq. I think we can agree about that.
INDC: What do you think of Americans now?
Mukhtar: The Americans now are peaceful -- more than us (laughs). They are helpful and give humanitarian support for the people here. [READ THE REST]

Other folks aren't so keen:
Some conservatives objected to the choice and "gave the White House an earful," according to one Republican familiar with the process.Echoing that:Some of these critics raised the case of Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter, who was an enigma when nominated by President George H.W. Bush. He frequently is a liberal vote.
In "some conservative circles," meanwhile, "there is wariness of Mr. Mukasey," and "some compared" his "potential ascendancy with the nomination of Bush confidante Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court."I'll be honest. I was hoping to see Ted Olson as AG. Ted's a smart, tough-minded lawyer, and his nomination would've sent the lefties into conniptions.
For now, I'm reserving judgment on Mukasey. It's possible, I suppose, that the endorsement of Chuck Schumer and Nan Aron isn't as bad as it looks. Not likely, I think, but possible.
UPDATE : Allah likes him, and Harry Reid is happy that Bush listened to the Democrats on this one.

Often web-based companies do not know who they are doing business with and do not monitor the content they serve because financial transactions and webpage building takes place online through standardized forms and templates.
Since The Jawa Report ran a story on September 5th about the PIJ websites enabled by American corporations, all three companies have been notified that they are violating US law. None of the companies have responded and all continue to help these violent terrorists spread their message, recruit new blood, and inspire the murder of civilians.
PIJ has been designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and the leaders of PIJ Specially Designate Nationals by the U.S. State Department. Under U.S. law it is illegal to provide business services, even free ones, to terrorists such as the PIJ.
The three PIJ websites are:
http://www.shikaki.net/
http://www.sarayaalquds.org/
http://www.falestiny.net/
Below: each of the three websites carries the logo of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Above right: an image from one of the websites glorifying a rocket attack which killed an Israeli civilian.

Domain registration services are provided to PIJ for all three websites from the Sunnyvale California internet giant Yahoo!.
Webhosting is provided to all three PIJ websites from Dallas, Texas:

DNS service for http://www.falestiny.net/ provided by mydnsnet.com of St. Cloud, MN. Abuse: admin@mydnsnet.com
DNS service for http://www.shikaki.net/ provided by Cold Fusion's efree2net.com, also out of St. Cloud, MN. Contact: support@efree2net.com

Don't let the disclaimer fool you, the website explicitly endorses al Qaeda. They even go so far as praising the former leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Musam al Zarqawi. The man who personally beheaded Nick Berg and who's brutality even prompted Ayman al-Zawahiri to urge caution lest he create a negative attitude towards al Qaeda.
After a long posting on how tender and nice Zarqawi was, the website goes on to pray:
May Allah swt accept his martyrdom. Ameen.I've mentioned the website many times before, but don't you think it's about time that Wordpress took our complaints seriously?
And just in case you don't understand where the author & website are coming from:
The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies–civilians and military–is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it...That is from the "About" page and those are the words of Osama bin Laden. We — with God’s help — call on every Muslim who believes in God and wishes to be rewarded to comply with God’s order to kill the Americans and plunder their money wherever and whenever they find it.
We've complained to Wordpress about the website in the past to no avail. Either the company doesn't care or they are understaffed and not equipped to deal with such complaints. Either way, their inability or unwillingness to respond to these complaints is sickening.

Looks like the new "Reform and Jihad Front". The Islamic Army in Iraq wasn't exactly enamored by al Qaeda's "Islamic State of Iraq" so they have set up their own competing shadow government. This would be their website.

To be honest, one of the lamest attempts at jihadi propaganda yet seen. Even so, here it is.
Al Boraq Media is the propaganda arm of the Islamic Army in Iraq. The same geniuses that brought us "we shoot down giant American warplane". The IAI is also the same group of "resistance fighters" who murdered American civilian hostage Ronald Shulz and Italian Red Cross worker Enzo Baldoni.
The website isn't too complicated. It simply states the need for organizations like al Boraq to get the "truth" out to counter the Western media and reiterates why propaganda is so important for the jihad. But still, it's sickening enough having this stuff on the internet--but even more sickening seeing an American company helping the terrorist murderers out.

You may remember that there was already at least one American convicted of helping the African Taliban in their jihad. Daniel Joseph Maldonado, aka Daniel Aljughaifi, was convicted of training to commit acts of terrorism overseas. He now denies that he was in Somalia helping the African Courts Union set up an Islamic state and that he only copped a plea to reduce a potential terrorism conviction. But witnesses in Somalia not only place him as an active ICU fighter, but also receiving training from al Qaeda operatives.
It is also known that Madonado has a number of supporters and sympathizers in the U.S., some of whom have vowed to continue the jihad in Somalia.
In addition to Maldonado, one of the heads of the African Taliban is an American. Ibrahim Hassan Addou is an American citizen and the ICU's "Foreign Minister".

Times Online:
An expert on the Middle East, who has spoken to Israeli participants in the raid, told yesterday’s Washington Post that the timing of the raid on September 6 appeared to be linked to the arrival three days earlier of a ship carrying North Korean material labelled as cement but suspected of concealing nuclear equipment.HFS!!!The target was identified as a northern Syrian facility that purported to be an agricultural research centre on the Euphrates river. Israel had been monitoring it for some time, concerned that it was being used to extract uranium from phosphates.....
But intelligence sources suggested it was a highly successful Israeli raid on nuclear material supplied by North Korea.

Several days ago I was told by a reader, Cindy, that Ali Sina's faithfreedom.com website was hacked, probably by Muslim online jihadis. The website was down, but since I had no way to confirm the reason for the site outage, I didn't say anything.
But I can now confirm that the website was hacked. We can't confirm who hacked it, but it's not exactly hard to guess. It's a website which supports Muslims leaving Islam. Under Islamic law, apostates may receive the death penalty.
Luckily the website was backed up and is slowly coming back online.
Here is the letter Cindy received:
"Hi Cindy,While I don't agree with everything the Faith Freedom website espouses---which seems to be a Christian response to Islam--I certainly agree with their main point: faith ought to be based on choice and as long as Muslims are not allowed to choose to leave Islam they are not free....Yes, the server was hacked. We are in the process of performing a full restore now. It will take about a week to complete. Thanks for the offer of assistance.
Kind Regards,
FFI Server Administrator

Specifically that they were trying to come up with easy ways for would-be jihadis around the world to make bombs. In other words, they were experimenting.
Oh, and did I mention that at least one of the two may have been on his way to Iraq? And not to fight for the good guys......
This SP Times report seems to back that assertion up:
When federal agents searched the men's car, a Toyota Camry registered to Megahed's brother, Yahia Megahed, they found the stuffed pipes wrapped in plastic bags in the trunk alongside a 5-gallon container of gasoline. Also, it looks like CAIR knows something. They defend Megahed, but...and this may be a first for CAIR....have harsh words for Mohammed.Explosives experts categorized the items in the trunk as incomplete pipe bombs, each large enough to blow out windows in a room but not strong enough to destroy a house. Potassium nitrate is a low-grade explosive otherwise used as fertilizer. Kitty litter bound the ingredients while syrup could add fuel....
Agents also found a box of bullets underneath the front passenger seat, where Megahed sat. On a laptop hastily unplugged, agents discovered sites that concerned them, including searches of Qassam rockets, weapons developed by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, often made with steel pipe, liquid sugar and potassium nitrate....
In July, Mohamed posted a video on YouTube that explained how to transform a toy remote controlled car into a detonator, Hoffer said. The 12-minute video is narrated by a man speaking Arabic with an Egyptian accent. It shows no face, only hands.
"Mohamed admitted he made and uploaded it," Hoffer said.
The video's narrator says it's meant "to save one who wants to be a martyr for another day in battle," Hoffer said. The narrator also mentions a previous example that used a remote controlled toy boat. Federal agents searched the New Tampa home of Megahed's family and found a remote controlled toy boat, Hoffer said.
Ahmed Bedier, director of the Central Florida office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, was quick to distinguish between Megahed and Mohamed. It seems that CAIR ought to head those same words. Wake up CAIR!"It's obvious there are two separate individuals with different charges and different allegations," he said. "I wouldn't be surprised if the two individuals end up having separate cases altogether."
He defended Megahed, saying it appeared he "just happened to be in the car." But he had harsher words for Mohamed.
If he could talk to Mohamed, Bedier said, "I'd say, 'Wake up!' "

They support the Troops. Seriously, dood.A vital nerve must have been struck to set the right wing howling so about their holy man Petraeus, and I think that we should get Hillary's and MoveOn's backs on this particular issue.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, BRUNEI: Brunei is trying to tap coal resources that have gone neglected for decades to help reduce its dependence on oil and gas, the government said.Heh.Brunei has widespread coal deposits of reasonable quality, but their potential has not been systematically explored using modern technology, said Zolkiflee Abdul Karim, acting director of the government's Petroleum Unit, in a government statement Wednesday (12 Sept).
The Energy Ministry is formally pursuing efforts to map out potential areas for commercial prospecting, the statement added.

The Clinton Administration hasn't gotten its hands on it, and won't. And now you can really see what happened when we missed Bin Laden in the 1990's, why the decisions made by the Clinton team weren't effective in getting or killing Bin Laden, how the Bush Administration (to it's discredit) made AQ a low priority upon the transition of the Oval Office between administrations, how the hijackers were trained, the chaos of 9-11, and everything else.
There are so many nuances and details in the story, from NSA wiretaps to arguments about collateral damage to CIA covert operations tracking these terrorists, that make it difficult to completely describe how adequate this documentary is.
Set aside 90 minutes and get yourselves up to speed about how and why 9-11 happened.
PS - The last 25 minutes or so are spent literally making the Bush Administration look like a bunch of incompetent morons, with segments noting that they still have been less than forthcoming about what kinds of things they were ordering on 9-11; like who gave the shootdown order, their desire to attack Iraq instead of Afghanistan, etc). In other words, this documentary spreads the blame around to all parties, and doesn't pull punches. That's why (I felt) it needs to be seen.
So watch with some hope, anti-BOOSHies. He gets what's coming to him, if you will merely sit through the 8 year run-up to 9-11 where BOOSH wasn't even a blip on the radar screen.

In an effort to enlighten our readership on the true nature of the growing civil unrest in Southern Yemen, Armies of Liberation obtained an exclusive statement from Brigadier General Ali Moqbel, organizer and member of the Yemeni Retired Military Consultive Association (MCRA). In the statement, General Moqbel clarified the goal of the protests, "We demand equality in citizenship and the return of all our officers to their positions."
General Moqbel explained the purpose of the protests, "The goal of the MCRA is to return all southerners to their previous employment in the same positions, both civilians and soldiers, who were referred to retirement after the war in 1994, many of whom were termed as in excess positions."
The statement continues, "All of our achievements in the South were lost upon unity which was announced May 22, 1990. We demand compensation for all persons without exception who sustained material losses at the hands of the state during these years.
Our demands are not arising from the air as indicated when President Saleh himself frankly admitted mistakes. We have the right to these demands and to equal citizenship. If the ruling party does not correct these mistakes, then the world will know who refused the unity of May 22, 1990."

Via LGF we learn that his name is Said Namouh, age 35.
According to this Globe and Mail article Namouh is a Canadian resident of Moroccan decent. He uses the alias "Nashraf" in his online activities. He's also been arrested for breaking and entering recently, but has yet to be tried.
It appears that Namouh flew to Austria to meet with the would be jihadis who were building a car bomb.
What I also didn't realize was that GIMF probably wasn't started in Germany--which has been it's main base of operation for several years--but in Canada.
The group appears to have its roots in a now defunct Yahoo group called "Global Islamic Media". That group is alleged to have ties with Islamic militant Ramzi Ahmed Yousef through its founder, Abu Banan.
Abu Banan once ran a website which listed the address of the organization in Quebec, Canada.
And where was Said Namouh detained? Quebec.
Oh, there are many more dots to connect here. Including the fact that the "Global Islamic Media" group is where Irhabi (terrorist) 007 seems to have got his start.
And that the "Global Islamic Media" group was shut down by Yahoo after they predicted an event which would force the Spaniards to elect a government which would withdraw troops from Iraq.
Much more here.
I've opened up a new archive since I believe there will be a lot more news about GIMF very soon. GIMF archive here.

Washington, Sept 14: The Bush Administration’s former chief counter-terrorism adviser, Richard Clark, has claimed that Osama bin Laden is either in Yemen or Somalia, and not in Pakistan.Clark, who was also the chief counter-terrorism adviser to the National Security Council during the Clinton Administration, said that bin Laden was propagating a kind of propaganda to lure Washington into a sense of neutrality to enable it to strengthen itself.
"Osama bin Laden had been saying for years, ‘America wants to invade an Arab country and occupy it, an oil-rich Arab country.’ He had been saying this. This is part of his propaganda," the Daily Times quoted Clark, as saying.
"In other words, we stepped right into bin Laden’s propaganda. And, the result of that is that al Qaeda and organisations like it, offshoots of it, second-generation al Qaeda have been greatly strengthened," he added.
UPDATE by Rusty: Horn of Africa? Er, haven't I been saying that since, oh, 2003? Yeah, I think Clark is a nutjob, but there is something to the notion that if bin Laden is alive, he's not in the same caves occupied by the rest of the al Qaeda jerkoffs.
None of the bin Laden videos over the past three years have the same quality as those prior to that time. None of them are comparable to the other as Sahab produced videos of recent years. If you look at similar videos featuring Zawahiri, al Libi, or Gadahn, there is a similar production quality. And that quality is rather high.
Not so with bin Laden's videos which tend to be of a much lower quality, never show him interacting with other al Qaeda members, and which appear to have been taken at a different location---one without a blue screen backdrop.
As far as Clark's idiotic notion that we are doing exactly what al Qaeda wants us to do--I'm speechless. It's falsified by the fact that bin Laden has explicitly asked that we withdraw from Iraq. So, bin Laden asks us to do something--withdraw--and by not doing it we are doing exactly what he wants us to do?
This is bin Laden as diabolical genius. Every move we make is part of his grand scheme.
Well played Mr. bin Laden. Well played.
If we are in a bind in Iraq and elsewhere, so too is al Qaeda. Because on one level people like Clark are right--the Iraq war is a great recruitment tool for al Qaeda.
The problem is that people like Clark don't understand al Qaeda's goals. It's sheer ignorance. Al Qaeda's goal is not to kill or to commit acts of terror. Terrorism isn't an end, it's a means.
The short-term goal of al Qaeda is the establishment of regional Islamic states based on sharia law. Since the U.S. stands in the way of that goal, they attack us.
Yes, Iraq is a recruiting ground for Salafi radicals, but having an army is not enough. That isn't his goal. His goal is for us to withdraw so that he can then use that army to establish Taliban-like regime. As long as we stand in the way of that goal, we are winning.
Random factoids from Jane:
1) Over 25,000 migrants made the sea voyage from Somalia to Yemen in 2006. Hundreds of jihaddists made the trip in reverse, leaving from Yemen to join the ICU in Somalia last year. Weapons and funds also transited via this route. Its a two day journey in a small boat.
2) The Sudan was recently found liable in a federal court for the attack on the USS Cole. The victims' families were able to sue because the Sudan is classified as a state sponsor of terrorism by the State Department, a designation not shared by Yemen, which precluded the families from bringing a similiar suit against the Yemeni regime.

Jay from Stop the ACLU wrote me in regards to a possible third al Qaeda vid being released sometime soon. As I read the description of the new "al Qaeda" video, something seemed, er, familiar.
The video is said to feature al Qaeda's number one man in Afghanistan Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid and:
The tape also features a montage of images showing the burning World Trade Center towers in New York and individuals such as Saudi King AbdullahWhich is odd, since just yesterday Laura Mansfield intercepted a video featuring al-Yazid and sent it to me.
I'm guessing it's the same video. You can watch it here. In which case a) we already have it b) you can watch the whole thing below c) it's not an al Qaeda produced video, but a GIMF production.
If it turns out to be a different video, we'll try to let you know that too. But I'm pretty sure it's the same one. And, as I said yesterday:
Frankly the video isn't all that interesting. A lot of footage of Osama bin Laden, but none of it new. They actually sample the sound the Tardus makes from Doctor Who, which is kind of funny. GIMF also sports a shiny new logo. The difference between al Qaeda's "as Sahab" production company and "GIMF" may not seem that important--they both produce jihad propaganda.
But three members of GIMF have recently been arrested in Austria and one in Canada. I'm sorry to say that we can't say the same thing about as Sahab's chief, American traitor Adam Gadahn.
I can see why SITE and Intel Center thought this was an "as Sahab" video--or the reporter misconstrued their words. For some odd reason, as Sahab is announcing this GIMF video. It's almost as if Adam Gadahn has some kind of relationship with GIMF........
It also makes me wonder how come the Middle East Online isn't a subscriber to Laura's Strategic Translations.

It's interesting to see CAIR claiming, on the one hand, that Audrey Hudson's WaTimes report showing that their contributions have dried up is completely false. Yet, on the other hand, they use that same report in their motion asking the judge to remove them from the unindicted co-conspirator list.
Audrey Hudson has more in today's Washington Times.
