Al-Jazeera Publishes the Obvious While MSM Ignores It

The American mainstream media have been queerly incurious about the al-Askiriya shrine bombing in February that touched off sectarian violence in Iraq. Meanwhile, American writer Sandy Shanks had this to say in al-Jazeera:

About the last thing Americans wanted, and their leadership, was for sectarian violence to blow the lid off Iraq. The same could be said for Shias and Sunni, most of whom wish only to rid themselves of the Western occupiers.

The same cannot be said for al-Qaida. It wants only turmoil and a civil war in Iraq would fit in with the group's grand scheme, embarrassing the US to the utmost. Moreover, this attack looks like an al-Qaida operation - well planned and executed brilliantly against an iconic target.

No kidding. I'd add that mortar attacks on Sunnis, followed soon after by mortar attacks on Shi'ites, should have gotten some of the reporters sitting in the Green Zone thinking, if not actually seeking the story. Ralph Peters of the New York Post seems to be the only reporter willing to leave the hotel.

1 OT: check out this fabulous CNN explanation of why China/Russia does not want the U.N security council to sanction Iran:

Both Russia and China are wary of action by the Security Council, which can impose sanctions, fearing threats might escalate and prompt Iran to cut all contact with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.

Iran and the security council

I bet it also doesn't have to do with China wanting to be the biggest oil buyer from Iran, Russia building pipelines into Iran so they can compete on the oil market, or both nations selling potentially billions of dollars of arms to Iran.

-- you can't even make this stuff up!

2 Our enemies of old are still our enemies today; they have just found ways to make war on us without getting their hands dirty. If we have to nuke Iran, we should wipe our Russia and China too. We have the arsenal to do it, so we should before it's too late.

P.S Can u wipe out saudia too the nation that prmotoes the sunni whabi terroism too ?

5 The security situation is so bad that reporters are now unable to leave the Green Zone, except in armored vehicles with heavy escort. Even this does not ensure their safety. On Jan 29th ABC co-anchor Bob Woodruff was seriously wounded while riding in an armored personnel carrier. Ithink that the MSM did report at the time that the attack on the mosque was probably done by al Queda in Iraq in the hopes of promoting civil war/ sectarian strife.

6 john ryan, how is it that Ralph Peters could travel all over Baghdad looking for the "civil war" when it was supposedly raging out of control?

The reporters stay in their hotels in the Green Zone because they're lazy and incompetent. Bob Woodruff was wounded because he acted stupidly. He had no reason to pop his head out of the APC in a terrorist-infested area.

7 I.M., I do not agree with attacking Russia, and China. If we were going to do that, it should have been when Patton was alive, and we didn't have so many homos in positions of leadership.

The price of gas is climbing with just the talk of attacking Iran. Iran has chemical weapons, yet does not give them to Hizbolla, or Hamas. At least not yet. The Mullas in Iran have big bank accounts. They do not want to die. I think. So, what are we to do?

Can we not contain them somehow? Must we bomb them back to the stone age?

I want my tax money back from Iraq, and I want the national dept to be almost zero. Let us support those who can bring change inside Iran, and let us get out of Iraq. We are never going to have moon base alpha spending money we do not have on war.
