Intel Experts : Musharraf May Not Make it Through the Summer

Via the New York Sun:

WASHINGTON — As a political crisis boils in Pakistan, American analysts both inside and outside the government are expressing new doubts that President Musharraf will be able to hold onto power through the summer.

Over the past month, the military regime in Islamabad has faced a rising threat of violent jihadis in its capital, as well as the struggle between the president and the suspended chief justice of the country, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. The twin challenges have led some analysts in the American intelligence community to begin questioning whether Pakistan's military, traditionally General Musharraf's most reliable ally, will support the current regime for much longer.

Stay tuned...

2 hmm it seems Iran doesn't have to develop nuclear weapons after all,all they do is sit back nd support the radicals in Pakistan and help some fuckin paki islamic movement gain power and blamo,an ally with nuclear weapons ready to help further the Islamic revolution and further the cause of blowing up Israel.why get thier own country nuked for lowing up Israel, let the pakis do it and then play the peace maker and cooler head after the deed is done.the US will be happy because we get to nuke someone and Iran gets happy because Israel is nuked and they get to play the innocent ones.seems inevitable that Pakistan turn away from the US as an ally,India stand for and escalation in conflict with Pakistan over Kashmir if Musharif flees power under an Islamic revolt.this could be bad,but on the brightside, pakistand military will be off the Afghanistan border to help Musharif, which means we can hit,the break away piece that the Taliban are sitting in right now.
God what a cancer, needs some radiation treatment to cure it,just who's gonna be the doctor?

3 Actually he has lasted longer than I thought he would. The majority of Pakistan is of the same tribal heritage as the Afghans. Just imagine. The Taliban with nukes. As long as we do all the fighting India and China will let us, but they had better wake up.

If the intelligence community says Musharraf wont make through the summer, doesn't that pretty much guarantee he'll still be Pres come fall?  Seriously, when have they ever gotten a prediction correct or identified a coming event?

Sputnik, USSR nuke, Chinese invasion of N Korea, Bay of Pigs, anything related to Vietnam, USSR invasion of Afghanistan, collapse of USSR, Iraq invasion of Iran, Iraq invasion of Kuwait, anything related to Al Qaeda

I think if I'm Musharraf, I'm happy to hear the intelligence community is predicting my impending demise.

5 A rogue nuclear Pakistan would drag India into the fight pretty quickly. Its bad enough with a moderating government currently in Pakistan, but if Talibanish forces come to control Pakistan...

I think though, the likely case is a general swap still not a good thing (because the next general would most likely be more sympathetic to the jihadist elements in Pakistan).

6 I'm thinking the longer a direct confrontation with Islam is delayed the greater the number of innocents whom Islam will victimize; so let a Talibanesque goat-molester come to power in Pakistan and then join forces with India to extirpate the filthy vermin.

In my experience Pakistani Islamists are the most vicious and barbarous of all mo-slimes.

7 Actually Tarzan, the Mullahcracy regime of Iran already has at least a couple of nuclear war heads; and I'm talking about the two that went missing from Kazakistan after the fall of the Soviet Union.
They've also smuggled and purchased six Ukrainian cruise missiles (minus warhead) which they may be able to use to deliver these weapons. What they want to do now is to have enough of a stock pile to keep up with an strike-and-counterstrike scenario and to give to their pet parasites in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories to be delivered into Israel not by a missile but in a truck.

8 I doubt Iran has nuclear warheads, they may have some fancy looking boxes that say nuclear warhead on the outside but on the inside is a leg lamp from Fragile' ,Italy. If indeed Iran did have nuclear warheads I suspect they would have used them via thier hezbollah shock troops against Israel.Iran wants to be the power in the Middle East, and using nuclear weapons would sink them faster than the Bismark,I stand by my theory which would explain why that short lil persian napoleon keeps saying time is near,he knows that thier rats have infiltrated enough in Iraq,Afghanistan and Pakistan to wreak major havoc and create an islamic horde not seen since Xerxes.

9 Tarzan:
Garduneh Mehr is correct, the NSA also believe that Iran purchased Nuclear Warheads after the fall of the Soviet Union. It is unlikely they are capable of using them today however, Iran cannot even repair planes they have purchased from other countries -- let alone keep a weapon in a stable and usable state.

10 I think the NSA is confused about what Iran purchased, disel subs yes but nukes...provide me some proof otherwise its all Iraq has WMDs to me
