House Majority Leader Meets With Muslim Brotherhood

The media is so focused on Nancy Pelosi's shameful misconduct, one can easily forget that there is plenty of disgrace to go around.

While Pelosi was busily usurping the authority of the President and the State Department, apparently Maryland Congressman, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, was getting chummy with the grandpappy of all terrorist groups, The Muslim Brotherhood.

From The Associated Press:

A top U.S. Democratic congressman met a leader of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's most powerful rival, the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, U.S. officials and the Islamist group said Saturday.

Visiting House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer met with the head of the Muslim Brotherhood's parliamentary bloc, Mohammed Saad el-Katatni, twice on Thursday — once at parliament and then at the home of the U.S. ambassador to Egypt, Brotherhood spokesman Hamdi Hassan said.

U.S. Embassy spokesman John Berry would only confirm that Hoyer, who represents Maryland, met with el-Katatni at U.S. Ambassador Francis Ricciardone's home at a reception with other politicians and parliament members.

The article went on to point out that, while Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has refused to meet with the Muslim Brotherhood, U.S. government policy does not bar meetings with the Brotherhood's members of parliament.
So while no laws were broken, certainly bad judgment was shown by the Dhimmicrats, once again.

John Ryan raises a fair point for once.  Wtf was that bastard doing at our embassador's residence in the first place?  We can't fire the Dhimmicrat, but we can fire that incompetent boob ambassador.

4 Yeah. Talking is for stupids. The Bush administration has achieved so much with it's swaggering, clearly they've set a good example.

Incidently, you do know that a GOP mission paid Syria a visit before Pelosi right? Do you care? I'm guessing no, cuz it doesn't support your narrative.

And really... Pelosi wouldn't have to pull this sort of thing if Bush just did his fucking job.

5 You just don't get it.
Right or wrong, it is the PRESIDENT who determines the nation's foreign policy during his tenure, not the Speaker of the House, not the house Majority Leader.

While our official policy is not to do business with Syria, and we are working to isolate that nation, we do maintain an embassy there and we keep back-channel communications with the Syrian regime open. This is done via the State Department, and on the President's orders... not the Democrat's.

If Republicans are dispatched to Syria by the administration, or they go with the administration's consent, they carry the policy of the administration.
Pelosi was publicly asked not to go and she  refused. She then proceeded to embarrass herself and our nation by claiming to bring a message from Israel that was promptly disavowed by PM Olmert.

The three Republicans who accompanied her are every bit as guilty as she, with the added distinction of being disloyal to their own party.
This nation cannot function with multiple foreign policies.

6 Interesting though that nobody talks about those Republicans. I wonder if that has something to do with politics.

And so far as the prez determining forign policy... I'd say that Bush had his chance and blew it. He was at the helm during the biggest forign policy disaster in US history. It's time to give the wheel over to somebody who knows how to drive.

I'm sure there is plenty of brush at his ranch he could be cleaning up. He's probably better suited to that anyway.

7 Rats are in our country.  They intend to change our country or will try to bring it down.  This cancer will continue no matter who occupies the White House.  What we need is the leadership necessary to terminate these evils.  I don't think we have such leadership in our government.  Nor do I see anyone stepping up to re-organize our system.  Maybe Colin Powell could do the trick, but he still feels stained from Bush not listening to him about Iraq, etc.  Notice how low he keeps his profile?  Frankly, I am tired of muslims.  Phony religion it is.  And hijacked by a mass movement of men who really hate being the losers they are with women!

I just did. Maybe you should work on your reading comprehension skills.

'I'd say that Bush had his chance and blew it.'

You can say it all you want, but that doesn't make it true.
George W. Bush's 'chance' will continue until the next Presidential election, as determined by the American people in the last Presidential election.

But for all of your posturing and sermonizing, you do not believe in Democracy, and it is you and your smarmy brethren who seek to undermine it at every opportunity.

9 It's time to give the wheel over to somebody who knows how to drive.

We have this thing called the Constitution.
The time to "give the wheel" does not arise until 2009.
Sorry that America does not comport with your fascist wishes.

10 9.  Amen!  However, the Constitution only applies to the Lefturds when it's convenient.  Otherwise, it's an evil document to them.

12 Hey, take a look at this post on Crooks and Liars re a segment on Fox of all places.

On "FOX News Sunday" today, Chris Wallace confronted Newt Gingrich with
the statements he made in 1997 on a trip to China in which he directly
contradicted President Clinton's policy regarding Taiwan. Newt Gingrich
— along with the right-wing echo chamber and short-memoried MSM
— spent the week condemning Speaker Pelosi for doing what Speaker
Gingrich did just a decade before. Only then, Gingrich carried a
message that was in stark contrast to US foreign policy; something that
Nancy Pelosi didn't do, despite baseless right-wing accusations to the contrary.

So what do you guys have to say for yourselves? I guess it's only okay with "righturds" from Congress pay visits to other countries no?
