Gunbattle Inside Iran

Conflicting reports on fighting inside of Iran.

Gateway Pundit:

Aryamehr, a terrific Iranian blogger who frequently reports news and video from inside the regime is reporting news of an armed struggle by the Lor, Bakhtiari and Qashqai tribes in Iran against the regime.

The Iranian government paints a far different picture:

Six police officers and four volunteers were martyred and 13 wounded in a violent clash with drug traffickers in the city of Semirom, Isfahan province.

Police Commander of Semirom, identified by his surname Mokhtari, told ISNA that four drug smugglers were also killed in the 18-hour gun-battle.

The sad fact is, each side would have good reasons to concoct falsehoods. Of course, the Iranian government would cover up a battle with anti-government forces. However, if it was a battle with drug smugglers, the resistance group could be using the incident for propaganda purposes.

Maybe Garduneh Mehr will have some inside info for us.

In the meantime, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's the mullahs who are lying. 28 years of distrust can't be wiped out with one news story.

1 We can dream. That's probably all it is. Can't see any group having the power and arms to upset Iran without popular support. The mad mullahs will do anything to maintain control. Even slaughtering their own countrymen. If revolution is a popular thing who are the thousands screaming death to America at every demonstration? But we can hope.

2 Vinnie,
I'm looking into this myself.
But I did hear of another incident near the city of Za'hedan in the south east part of Iran close to Pakistan and Afghanistan borders in which 4 agents of the regime were killed. Given the location of Za'hedan, it may have in fact been a clash between drug-traffickers and border patrol.

However, the Isfahan incident is not likely to be drug related since it's said to have involved the Basiji (auxiliaries to the IRGC). Regular crimes like drug-trafficking are handled by the regular police possibly with the backing of the regular army.  Also the fighting was spread over a fairly large area, whereas drug busts are usually localized.
I'll try and get some first hand info tomorrow.

4 I am the ghost of Freddy Murcury the Zoroastrian queer and let me tell you that I have seen what happened in Iran and it IS pretty. Those "gunbattles" were Muslim queers ejaculating at each other and the ones who died, well they died of broken hearts. My Zoroastrian mouth sucked more than one Muslim cock in my time but let me tell you, as far as I am concerned, that gangbang in Iran was as good as it can get, pure heaven in my opinion, and will go down as a superhuman miracle in the Avesta.

5 Local opposition forces would be spurred on against the mullahs prior to any American military action against them.

Don't know the intricasies of Iranian culture, but that's regime change 101. America needs to be seen as a liberator, not a conqueror. The rails need to be greased before the heavy hitters roll in.

7 If the Iranian people stand up then I say stand up with them. Watching them the past 30 years I don't believe they have what it takes. They are responsible for their government. They put them in power. If they go down with them its their fault for not standing up.
