German Gets House Arrest for Nuclear Smuggling

Outrageous? Yes, but not quite as egregious as the mastermind of the nuclear proliferation ring, Abdul Qadeer Khan, who was pardoned after he confessed to helping Libya & North Korea develop nuclear weapons. While no official charges have been pressed against Khan, he's been put under an unofficial sort of house arrest. Not so much as punishment, but to make sure he doesn't talk to the press and confirm what we all know: that he was working under the blessings of the Pakistani government in helping rogue nations develop nuclear weapons.

A South African court handed a German engineer who was involved in a global nuclear technology smuggling ring an 18-year suspended jail sentence on Tuesday, the SAPA news agency reported.

Gerhard Wisser will have to spend three years under house arrest as part of a plea bargain...

Wisser, former managing director of Johannesburg engineering company Krisch Engineering, had been accused of involvement in an international smuggling ring headed by disgraced Pakistani scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan...
