Fwench Do What They Do Best: Wimp Out

Cross-posted from The Dread Pundit Bluto

I know, a real dog-bites-man story. Is there anyone who didn't see this coming?

From Fox News:

UNITED NATIONS — The French-American alliance at the United Nations over a Mideast cease-fire agreement is crumbling, sources tell FOX News.

The French U.N. delegation has joined with Arab nations and is now calling for a complete and immediate Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon as a condition of any cease-fire, the sources said.

In addition, the French have reportedly agreed with Arab demands that the Lebanese force be accompanied only by UNIFIL, with no international force to be deployed.

Yeah, that'll work. The Lebanese army, which hasn't been capable of dealing with Hizballah for 25 years, and the UN, which hasn't been capable of dealing with anything, ever, will now be issued magic wands.

After World War II, I guess collaboration just comes naturally to the Fwench.

Guess I was too "optimistic" when I posted this the other day.

2 now stand up, good. now raise your hands up, no higher up...no, higher! good.
now you are the french army!

Joe loosing is good news, really.
Arrrg! At least he will win in the election. Also this shows that the democratic base is too left to win in 08. If L-man had won tonight it would have shown a willingness of the base to moderate and thereby swing the middle electorate. so temp. bad news for joe, long term good for me!

Hey, come see my post on why we need chicks in massachusetts, ok?

4 LOL, I was surprised that the French offered, and even more surprised anyone took it seriously.

The French can act quickly and effectively when they see their own interests on the line and the politicians don't have a chance to put their oar in. Their offer regarding Palestine/Israel does not qualify.

7 The French are the most corrupt cowards in Europe. Who cares what they say? They will turn and run if you challenge them!Remember who were the big takers (besides Kofi and son) in the "Food fo Oil" scam!

8 In a perverse way, this is actually a good thing. Misha @ nicedoggie.net explains (better than I could) that this will mean that the UN resolution is now doomed to failure, or at least a few more weeks of yacking. If the resolution would have passed quickly, then Israel would have less time to take out the hizgarbage. Now they can do a more thorough job.

Not that France gives a rats ass about Israel.

10 The UN has done very well in Sierra Leone, the DRC, and Kosovo. France did technically win WWI, even though it was with British help (It's called an alliance). France just doesn't want to go to war. Are we calling Fiji a bunch of cowards for not going into Iraq? No. They've never won a war and lost to the big European powers when they came to colonize. France is mad cool. Look at their soccer team and the league. They've given the NBA some nice players like Tony Parker and Boris Diaw. They have pretty good music. They helped the US out before a bunch of times. Hell, we wouldn't be 50 states if they didn't sell us all of that land in the Louisiana Purchase. They left Lebanon after us. Kicked a lot of Kraut @$$ in WWII. And they were one of the first democratic nations in Europe. But the Dutch are cooler.
