Freshman Senator Raises Bar For DemSpeak, Creates New Military Tactic

Democratic senator Jim Webb has set a brilliant new standard for doubletalk in his reply to President Bush's State of the Union speech:

"Not one step back from the war against international terrorism. Not a precipitous withdrawal that ignores the possibility of further chaos," said Webb. "But an immediate shift toward strong regionally based diplomacy, a policy that takes our soldiers off the streets of Iraq's cities and a formula that will in short order allow our combat forces to leave Iraq."
So, Senator Webb would have a "withdrawal" that is not "one step back." We are to withdraw forward by retreating but not taking one backwards step while shifting away from the front. It's called the "moonwalk."

As our military performs this unique evolution, our politicians are to speak loudly while flagellating themselves with small sticks.

1 Interesting that the Dems chose a guy best known for writing about a father putting his 4-year-old's penis in his mouth to give their Democratic Retort.

2 What do you expect?!!  Webb's a liberal anti-war draftee veteran of Vietnam. None of them understand what the war on terrorism is all about.

3 Well Billy he was also known for other things. but if that is something that you find "interesting" than I guess that is how you will remember him.
A classmate at the Naval Academy of Oliver North Webb also chose to join the Marines. He won the Navy Cross, a Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Hearts. In 1987 He was appointed Secretary of the Navy, and resigned in 1988 rather than go along with a reduction in the size of the fleet.
Bluto your analysis of his speech ranks right up there with your analysis of the "pummeling" that Hezbollah received after their battles with Israel (Hezbollah is now poised to take over Lebanon), the "what if they gave a civil war and nobody came" Iraq posting (currently running at abot 3000 dead per month), and your pre- election accolade of Karl Rove "brilliant"
Even Webb's classmate Olliver North is against the surge. During an interview with O'Reilly he said that on his last trip to Iraq everyone he spoke with seving there was against sending more troops. Here is a link to that interview.

4 Benedict Arnold was a war hero and a general. John Ryan, on the other hand, is simply a traitor.

5 Reminds me a great deal of President Bush, who has said that combating terrorism, of which we are to believe Iraq is a part, constitutes "a
decisive ideological struggle" and that "nothing is more
important at this moment in our history than for America to succeed. At the same time he says America's commitment to the current Iraq action is "not
open-ended."

How can both claims possibly be true?

If nothing is more important, shouldn't it be open-ended? And if it's not open-ended, does he really believe it's all that
important?

Maybe some day he'll figure out what he actually means and communicate it without the double-speak. But I doubt it.

6 What he's saying, Glorp, is that nothing is more important than America's success to patriotic Americans, not to folks like yourself and John Ryan, who salivate over dead Americans as a means to power for your party.

Posted by: The Dread Pundit Bluto at January 24, 2007 02:12 PM (p52Ne)

7 Ah, back to annointing yourself a patriotic American as well as a George Bush apologist. The second point has been successfully proven, I'll say that. Keep working on the first ... you need improvement.

8 It took Jim Webb a VETERAN of real war not bar wars like Georgie fought less than nine minutes to say calvacades more about the mindset that 70% of the nation has about Iraq than Georgie boy tried to do in over 50 minutes.

No matter what you right wing idiots claim about this escalation of sending kids into a meat grinder this is the worst president ever and we must start now apologizing to the rest of the world for the gargantuan mistake Georgie boy ade in invading a sovereign nation.

Maybe now we can get down to the business of rectifying what is wrong with America (getting the 30% dead enders out of political office would be a grand start) and show the rest of the world that we respect them, that we want to live alongside them, not control them.

As to Iraq,  Webb pegged it.  If Georgie boy  doesn't understand what the American public wants (remember those are THEIR kids dying for oil) then WE will "be showing him the way".

Georgie should just resign and go back to cutting brush.  He is SOOO in over his head.

9 No, Glorp, my patriotism has never been questioned, at least not by anyone with an IQ above room temperature. The real point is your eagerness for bad things to happen to fellow Americans. That's what the Democratic Party is all about, these days. But why are you and John Ryan such cowards about it? Why not come out from hiding in other people's comments and start your own blogs? Don't worry, even mildly retarded quislings such as yourself can handle it. It's easy. Of course, then you have an obligation to actually support your anti-American views, but you can do that, can't you?

Posted by: The Dread Pundit Bluto at January 24, 2007 02:27 PM (p52Ne)

10 civilbehavior: explain exactly what Webb said, taking into account the contradictory statements he made. Let me make it easy for you, you dishonest POS; Webb said we must retreat, but we must not retreat. If you're too stupid to recognize double-speak when it's served up to you with a spoon, you shouldn't embarrass yourself by commenting here.

Alternatively, pull your head out of your ass and start supporting your country, instead of just your party.

11 No, Glorp, my patriotism has never been questioned, at least not by anyone with an IQ above room temperature.
Nor have I, except here. Must be that IQ thing you mentioned.

The real point is your eagerness for bad things to happen to fellow Americans.
I'm not complicit in the  wasted lives of 3,000+ US soldiers; you are. Therefore let accusation of eagerness land where they best belong.

Why not come out from hiding in other people's comments and start your own blogs?

You're probably right, retardation and all. But perhaps if rightwing bloggers were less insistant on using a public medium to create very private, well-insulated rightwing worlds and more interested in intelligently debating actual positions, the annoyance might not be so great. Note that only rightwing blogs refer to those with alternate views as "trolls."

And to steal a line from another post:
Alternatively, pull your head out of your ass and start supporting your country, instead of just your party.

Well said .... I suggest you start taking your own advice.

"Note that only rightwing blogs refer to those with alternate views as 'trolls.'" - Why then, whatever do the KosKidz mean when they refer to "troll diaries," and why do they delete every comment with which they disagree. And why does Firedoglake post "troll IP"s and delete every comment with which they disagree?

Are you saying that they mean something different by "troll," or are you saying that DailyKos and Firedoglake are really rightwing blogs in drag? Or are you saying that you've just shown everyone the reason you're afraid to start your own blog, mainly, because you're an idiot?

Posted by: The Dread Pundit Bluto at January 24, 2007 03:11 PM (p52Ne)

13 And before you blithely excuse yourself on your other idiotic point about our war dead, how many of them died because of the aid and comfort you and your party have given them? How many have died because the Democratic party made it crystal clear that they celebrated each death as a new stick with which to beat their political foes? Nothing heartens a terrorist insurgent like knowing he enjoys the support of folks like Gleep, John Ryan, civilbehavior...and Jim Webb.

Posted by: The Dread Pundit Bluto at January 24, 2007 03:15 PM (p52Ne)

14 Why then, whatever do the KosKidz mean when they refer to "troll
diaries," and why do they delete every comment with which they
disagree. And why does Firedoglake post "troll IP"s and delete every
comment with which they disagree?

I don't know that they do; if so, you'd have to ask them. For myself, I've never heard of Firedoglake. Daily  Kos I know and have visited less than a half-dozen times in the 18 months since I've discovered blogging.

I know my positions; why would I go to a blogsite just to have some guy in Idaho or someplace agree with me? That's a rightwing need I don't share.

And before you blithely excuse yourself on your other idiotic point
about our war dead, how many of them died because of the aid and
comfort you and your party have given them?

Oh, thats' easy. Exactly none. Zero. Zip. I don't know of a single soldier, private contractor or civilian who has died because of opposition to the war (and some on this blog would point out to you it is not a war; we haven't been at war with Iraq since 2003). I've found it's much easier to find those who have died as a direct result of the support of the war, however.

Posted by: Gleep! at January 24, 2007 03:57 PM (Zlbra)

So Glorp, is it still your position that only rightwing sites use the word "troll," or have you decided to leave your head stuffed up your ass, as you have regarding the aid and comfort you have given our enemies in the propaganda war? Being a traitor is bad enough, stupid traitor is even worse.

Posted by: The Dread Pundit Bluto at January 24, 2007 05:30 PM (p52Ne)

16 And Gleep is a stupid, ignorant traitor.

17 And Gleep is a stupid, ignorant traitor.

Coming from the single-toothed assistant Grand Wizard, that means exactly what one would think it means. Shit.

18 Creep and Snivel Behaviour:

Please explain a few things about your comments.

Why does a single part of a "decisive ideological struggle" have to be open ended? How is "success" open ended?

Is either Hillary Clinton or Barack Osama Obama a "veteran of a real war?"

Why are you proven apologists for terrorists?

Is Dhimmiecrat political power more important than killing terrorists and protecting the innocent?

What poll can you cite that claims 70% of Americans want our soldiers to flee from Iraq immediately?

Why should America apologize to the whole world for overthrowing a genocidal Tyrant? Should U.S. soldiers apologize for paying with their own blood to protect Iraqis from invading terrorists?

Are there any minors ("kids") fighting in Iraq who are incapable of making their own decisions? Do they need Mother Sheehan to hold their weinies while they pee-pee?

Where is the oil Bush seized for his Texas cronies?

What makes you think misdirection makes for a proper debate?

If you don't need to go to a blog to have some guy in Idaho (beautiful state,) agree with you, how many conservative friends do you have?

The terrorists use leftoid opposition to America's presence in Iraq as a recruiting tool. How many people do you suppose have died as a result?

How many American soldiers have died because real americans support them? Are conservitives travelling to Iraq to set off  IEDS, or is it islamopithecine terrorists?

Do you think you can fool anyone with your feigned concern for American soldiers? Do those soldiers need traitorous pussies like you to speak for them?

Terrorists attacked us on our own soil. Why do you oppose counter attacks on theirs?

Since all leftoids share the same brain, either one of you can dodge these questions.

19 Do I smell cock and breath? Oh, hello Jeff. As a rule, I don't address those who've mistaken filibuster and diatribe for debate. But I will make one exception for you:

"Fuck Off."

20 Creep:

You really told me. Your ad hominem excuse for an argument was too much for me.

How do you know what cocks smell like? Since I'm not in the room with you, whose breath are you sniffing? Enjoy the chin nuts, fruitloop.
