French Muslim Women Hymenizing

(Paris, France) Apparently, it's the latest trend. Muslim women are having their hymens stitched to become, technically, virgins again. Prompting the trend is a rise in religion among the five million Muslims in France.

This 30-minute outpatient procedure, called "hymenoplasty" and costing between 1,500 and 3,000 euros ($2,000-$4,000), is increasingly popular among young women of North African descent in France.
No exact figures exist to say how many such operations are done, but the woman's surgeon says he gets three to five queries and performs one to three hymenoplasties each week. Demand has been rising for the past three or four years.

It's reported that the women are subjected to enormous cultural and family pressure to be virgins when they marry. I'd like to know how many are virginating (virginizing?) themselves in preparation for the afterlife and joining their 71 sisters.

Frankly, $2,000 - $4,000 seems like an awful lot of money to put a wrapper back on a package.

    Reminds me of that old postcard from Baltimore that read "She ain't got that cherry, but she still gots the box it came in!"

    I do NOT believe that adultery should be punished by stoning, but I DO believe that adultery, where one or both persons are married to someone else, SHOULD still be a crime, with some serious jail time or fines. In most states, it's been decriminalized. In Maine, you cannot even use it as primary grounds for a divorce.

   Persons who cannot keep one simple promise can never be trusted with anything again. At least the military still realises this, and acts accordingly.

6 Hymens are big business in the US, too. Especially where there are large Muslim populations. Just google "hymen reconstruction repair" and you'll come up with about 18,500 hits.

A woman can do it on her lunch hour, but she'd better make it about six weeks before the wedding in order to things to appear "normal" -- i.e, the swelling to go down, and the stitches to dissolve.

Cash only, please.

The procedure is called hymenoplasty. I guess it beats being stoned to death if yours comes up missing in action.

I've had this subject in my pending folder for a long time. Was always going to call one of those places and get them to tell me about the procedure. Very lucrative...for the doc, I mean.

My ex-wife was a non-practicing Catholic from Egypt (talk about being in a minority). She moved out before the wacko-do Muslims became so prevalent; but she still had nothing but bad to say about the Muslim Brotherhood, and how dangerous and scary they were.

I donâ€™t recall all the details, but one reason a Muslim bride needed a hymen was to allow the conquering husband to display a blood soaked bed sheet from the bridal bed room. Public display is very important in this â€œcultureâ€.

I am an old school defender of women's rights.

In that sense, I don't think any individual should be prevented from seeking thier own personal excellence, as long as they are not trying to oppress, or suppress, or unfairly favor anyone else. Attached to this is a respect for each individual to find thier own identity, and self awareness. To choose what to do with thier own person, as human beings, in full possession of themselves.

This whole 'female-sex-virginity-honor-killing-thing' flies in the face of self ownership, and personal freedom of identity. I still see this as an attempt to have it both ways, to be a person, and to survive as a possession of someone else.

I think it reveals social illness.

I will never forget the special on the mutilated woman from Afghanistan. Her husband said she would'nt listen to him so he cut her ears off. Said she stuck her nose in his business so he cut her nose off. She didn't see things his way so he cut her eyes out. A charitable organization brought her over here for facial reconstruction. Her husband was sentenced to two years in jail by an Islamic court. Islam can't be having those uppity women.

Afghanistan and Iqaq are countries both rich in resources who were milked by western powers. If they were not stolen from by yes the U.S. they would be rich educaed and have a proper goverment. 19 Outraged, You really need to do better research. Iran was doing fine until the Islamic Revolution seized power, and forced the women into stifling black tents and called it clothing. Google the R.A.W.A. and see what you learn about orthodox Islamic repression of women, from some of those oppressed! In the meantime, you may want to note that the women we are talking about in this specific article are living in a 'rich' western nation, and spending tons of cash to get this surgery done in the first place, I guess the 'west hates Islam so much that it gives muslims all this money to fritter away on cosmetic surgery, or did I miss your point? As I see it, your probably not seking truth, so peddle your mythology to someone who doesn't know any better.

Islamic oppression of women, and Muslim men causing Muslim women to fear violent consequences for exercising basic freedoms, is what most of us here are talking about. Women in America are thier own property, morally, ethically, and legally. Debate as to whether they have a right to authorize the killing of an unborn human being is about the only serious issue. Islam has institutionalized the state of women as little more than property. Valuable, in a manner of speaking, but disposable none the less!
